Still exploring ET016 - but this time our explorers are investigating some wreckages that were found on Southern Desert, in Megaurchins Canyon. On the left, we see five megaurchins - those big animals are as large as a cow but are less agile than a snail - for almost all their life they lie on rocks and only from time-to time agitate their 4m long, sticky tentacles which act as a "fly paper". Their daily haul is not very impressive - about 1,5 kg of small flying animals, but considering megaurchins very slow metabolism & ability to photosynthesize organic compounds - it is enough for survive. To devour its pray, megaurchin simply lick up his tentacles.
It's only just after the birth that small warm like megaurchins larvae travels several kilometers looking for adequate rock, on which it will usually stay for its whole life.

Next time perhaps a report about wreckages would be ready - actually it is only known, that those are remaining of small landing ship and its crew. What is the most interesting is that this ship was not build by ET016 civilization...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only minor postwork was done to this scene - gamma adjustement, low pas filter, sharpnes enhancement &few shadows adjustement.
Sky is original Vue sky (no bitmap), the same for all textures - they are procedural(except megaurchins head & spikes, explorers suites & leafs)
(originaly non-postworked wersion was post here, but i decided to replace it by this "boosted" version. Original version in reduced size is still available on my website)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything except Megaurchins and Explorers figures was build in Vue Pro.
Ships wrecks were assemble from primitives, alien plants were model using Vue Pro Plant Editor.
Megaurchins were set up in Poser - I used great & easy to pose Tentacle Hair (made by Ajax) & some horns from "Monster Parts set" - Body was made in Cinema 4D, Explorers are Poser 2 low res figures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TUTORIAL AVAILABLE NOW !!!
You can learn how I modelled Megaurchins Rock - it was assembled from several Vue terrins.
Please, if you have any comments, questions or proposals concerning this tutorial, don't hesitate to post them.

This is my first scene MADE IN EUROPEAN UNION

Hope you would like it :-)))

Cheers!

Robert

Wow ! More and more, you bring to Vue images the crisp quality that are usually seen with high quality renders from Bryce, Cinema4D or higher end software. Your work is a pleasure to explore and something mind bogling to consider from a technical perspective.

WOW Agiel ! Don't joke :-)) high-end Bryce ;-)) LOL! I know Bryce quite well, Bryce 5 is less advanced and much slower than old Vue 2. It is almost impossible to obtain from this program correct, natural looking renders. High quality works you see in Bryce gallery result of very intensive postwork - often there is more postwork than original Bryce render - some of those works are really stunning, but should rather be displayed in Photoshop gallery :-). Cinema 4D ? I know it too - cool multipurpose 3D software - but setting of a similar scene as you see above, would take in Cinema much more time (3-5 times longer) than in Vue, which is optimized for landscape modeling. In Vue you have many creators that helps you with quick scene set up. (Ex. tree, terrain, atmosphere editors, rocks generator), numerous libraries of predefined, high quality elements (materials, plants, atmospheres, terrains) - thats why using Vue you can build a landscape quicker. Artistic quality of pictures is another problem - Cinema is mainly used by 3D art professionals, while cheaper Bryce & Vue are used by larger public. For historic reasons and because of its lower price, Bryce has twice as much users as Vue has. Thats why in Cinema & Bryce galleries you can find more artistic artwork.

Your superb handling of vue is well represented here with this rocky world, Robert. However, your creativeness is always top stuff. You are the best example of what can be achieved with vue and imagination.

Robert, this is so completely mind-bogglingly FANTASTIC!! I've sat here looking at this image for a VERY long time - it's just incredible in every way - so much detail and so much going on. I WISH I could model terrains that look this incredibly realistic - right out of the box! I love everything about this - and on top of so much great talent - you model too!!! (that's next on my list lol*) STunning!!
