Still exploring ET016 - but this time our explorers are investigating some wreckages that were found on Southern Desert, in Megaurchins Canyon. On the left, we see five megaurchins - those big animals are as large as a cow but are less agile than a snail - for almost all their life they lie on rocks and only from time-to time agitate their 4m long, sticky tentacles which act as a "fly paper". Their daily haul is not very impressive - about 1,5 kg of small flying animals, but considering megaurchins very slow metabolism & ability to photosynthesize organic compounds - it is enough for survive. To devour its pray, megaurchin simply lick up his tentacles.
It's only just after the birth that small warm like megaurchins larvae travels several kilometers looking for adequate rock, on which it will usually stay for its whole life.

Next time perhaps a report about wreckages would be ready - actually it is only known, that those are remaining of small landing ship and its crew. What is the most interesting is that this ship was not build by ET016 civilization...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only minor postwork was done to this scene - gamma adjustement, low pas filter, sharpnes enhancement &few shadows adjustement.
Sky is original Vue sky (no bitmap), the same for all textures - they are procedural(except megaurchins head & spikes, explorers suites & leafs)
(originaly non-postworked wersion was post here, but i decided to replace it by this "boosted" version. Original version in reduced size is still available on my website)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything except Megaurchins and Explorers figures was build in Vue Pro.
Ships wrecks were assemble from primitives, alien plants were model using Vue Pro Plant Editor.
Megaurchins were set up in Poser - I used great & easy to pose Tentacle Hair (made by Ajax) & some horns from "Monster Parts set" - Body was made in Cinema 4D, Explorers are Poser 2 low res figures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TUTORIAL AVAILABLE NOW !!!
You can learn how I modelled Megaurchins Rock - it was assembled from several Vue terrins.
Please, if you have any comments, questions or proposals concerning this tutorial, don't hesitate to post them.

This is my first scene MADE IN EUROPEAN UNION

Hope you would like it :-)))

Cheers!

Robert

Czarnyrobert, thanks for your advices. And for tutorial, I`m just downloading it. Your rocks are really impressive. The rusty ship also looks very interesting. And what are the red dots on these creatures? Eyes? Do so slow ones need eyes? :)

Curious about your personality because of your article on commenting incl. the friend trap plus the interview for monthly artist feat., I looked around and liked this one. Aside from the stunt of compressing such an atmo into less than 500kb, what if it happens? Uggh. Everyone can make something else of the same art. I sort of imagine it were just the canyon. Spiritual. Me also playful in my imagination. Hope it does not get too real. Thanks for that great article about the commenting, I think it is directing some of us the right way these days, AND THIS! There should be a place to comment someones TOTAL activity which may or may not be a private message. Btw, dont always have time to visit many people new to me fast, you are, though, keep up
