Description
The wind blows all those ice-crystals and ice behaves a little bit different than sand. Remarkable little layers of ice appear to be formed by the continuing gusting winds.

The crunch and then the fall through to gouge your shin on the hardened crust. Nimbly you try to step ever so softly on the crust and it seems to hold creaking a bit, until...with a whoosh of dry crystals up your pant leg; it too falls through. Sand is a better surface to walk on.
