BIO
My name is Todd Shearer and I live in the US, on the east coast, near Washington D.C., but don't hold that against me, it's not my fault...really. I live with my significant other and two beagles, Hephaestus (aka Heph) and Nyarlethotep (aka Nya). and the ghost of Yogsothoth (aka Yogdog) And yes, feel free to make the Indianna Jones joke about my being named after the dog. I am presently one of the great unemployed masses, trying to make my way into being able to almost support myself with my art and writing. I try not to be a one trick pony, doing a landscape here, a portrait there, a pin-up over next to the wall...yeah, there in the corner...or whatever else comes to mind. I read and write mostly horror, though I make a point of forcing myself to read at least one classic "should be read" book every four or five cheesey horror or fantasy novels I read. Presently I am working on Dante's Divine Comedy and coming to regret the choice. My favorite artists are Vermeer, Brughel, Barry Windsor-Smith, Bernie Wrightson and Thom Canty... talk about ecclectic. My favorite writers are Stephen King (there's a surprise), H.P. Lovecraft, James Michener and Douglas Adams. Anything else you wish to know? Feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer. Yerz, Yogdog

Only a word: SUBERB!

Okay, I love this image. One thing to think about is how far down is the action is taking place? This is just an observation from spending way too hours under water as a scuba diver for the past 26 years. This image with the green color water would only be about 10 feet below on a very sunny day. The primary colors start to fade the deeper you go with red being first, then yellow then blue. At about 40 feet down you see a lot of blue, dark green and grey. To get the color back you have to use a light source, more light the deeper you go. Now this image looks great as it is, I am not complaining. You said you wanted critical comments and I think that underwater scenes should have some thought to what the water does to light as one goes deeper. What I think helps this image work is the sand on the bottom. You could say that it is reflecting a bit of light back so that the yellow color has not faded too much at a greater depth. I hope you do not think I am being negative here, since I just joined and have not even posted an image of my own yet, but I wonder what would the image look like with less yellow. Maybe a bit more ominous?

Very convincing underwater FX, I think Conan has plenty of weapons to keep the giant Octopus at bay ! Top shelf work ! ~Cheers~ :o)

45thdiv, Thanx for the diving info. I have only been snorkeling a couple of times, meaning that for the most part I stayed in the tidal areas or have gone swimming in the Chesapeake Bay, which is almost all green and sludgy. ;-) And rest assured, I do not think you were being negative. I did try the pic out in shades of blue and it looked more like it was occuring at night than in the water. But still, I appreciate the comments...from everyone. Thanx, Yogdog
