Description

The first time I found a lady's slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus) I was overwhelmed by the enthusiastic emotions of my uncle who eventually found this orchid for the first time just like me! So I went shooting like a crazy guy and afterwards I found out the composition was far too simple. Shooting images off center adds usually to the composition, to give it depth, make it more interesting. So I decided to crop this one rigorously and here you see the result. Composing square pictures is somewhat harder but in this case I thought it added to the composition. Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments Minolta X-700 (Agfa CT 100, 70 mm and cropped)

Cropping is a wonderful tool - this looks better when you emphasize the vertical rather than the horizontal! These are beautiful flowers - I've never seen this kind of orchid before, either :)

If only we can find the lady who wore it last night. Somewhere in the deep purple of the vitreous humor she is laughing.

Beautiful colours and the water droplets really add something too ...and I like the out of focus background that really makes the flowers stand out.

As I love the plants of the Alpines and such I really appreciate these pictures. Wish I had them in my rock garden.. not the one from nature of course but from a nursery.
