I will email webmaster at DAZ, but the change over has deleted my Platinum Club Account. When I tried to buy an item in the PC, it says I was not signed up for it. I was logged in OK, and my account history is there, so it knows it me. ALSO---look at your account. the preferences have all been changed...I am now NOT signed up for the newsletter, special offers, or anything else.... SO...you all should get over there and check this thing out

Just went to DAZ store and got the following - Down for maintenance. Back shortly.

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Dave-So ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 9:28 PM

ah...hopefully all will be corrected...I'll check back later...it was like that earlier...then came back up...now down again..maybe they found a problem... There was a message earlier that they were changing over.

Was mentioned that some of the database info was being converted but some of it left behind. you may have to reselect your options after the wizbang version is up and running, dunno, seems resonable to assume, given such a major upgrade. I can't even get into the site now cause it's down. patience is not one of my virtues (neither is spelling).

Orio ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 9:57 PM

Maybe I'm just wondering about a stupid thing (I'm not that experienced about the matter) but couldn't all this stuff (software and web code) have been better tested on a "duplicate" site... I mean a "dummy" site, not the real one... and then move the files (or the URL) when everything was boudle-tested and proofed?

Orio ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 9:57 PM

boudle-tested = double-tested

WaxTextures ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 10:26 PM

Orio - I much prefer 'boudle-tested' it is so strange that I bet I can use it in a meeting and everybody will nod their heads sagely. I know nothing about their conversion but I know alot about conversions and switch-overs in general and sometimes you can't afford the resources to run concurrent systems and sometimes you do EVERYTHING right and it still gets screwed up. I definitely feel their pain... -Nancy.

EricofSD ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 10:32 PM

I saw it for a bit before it was taken down again for maintenance. Quite wonderful. Congrats to the designer for aesthetics. Its definitely got a new look, and yet, still familiar enough for continuity. They fixed one of my pet peeves. Now when I open a picture on a sub page and hit the back button it goes back instead of that "start over" error. I like the "roomy" feel to it. Well, lets wait for Picasso to finish before we go ape on them. They're doing a great job so far and its neat to see it in progress!

Charlie_Tuna ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 10:44 PM

'boudle-tested' sounds like what CL must done with P5 before it got shoved out the door :-)

Unfortunately, today was one of those days when too many things hit the fan at once. Between the code swap and a needed server overhaul and few other issues from the old store, things got messed up quite bad for a while. In fact, they still aren't completely perfect yet, hence the downtime. Believe me, we hate it as much as you all do, and we feel it, too. Our code monkey is working feverishly to get things back to the nirvana they were at before the problems occured. We did test and double and triple check the store, (we've been developing it for months now), but unfortunatley we've had a couple of unforeseen issues arise that couldn't have been anticipated simply through testing. Long story short: We're working on it, and once it's up, yes, we will be very happy ;) . The loss of the Platinum Club membership appears to be isolated to just a handful of individuals, and have no fear, we still have all your purchase information, so if you have indeed lost your membership, it will be restored immediately. Any problems like this that you notice, please report to our webmaster at webmaster@daz3d.com. We actually have some very big things in the works for the Platinum Club, as its one year anniversary rolls closer, be ready to see some cool things happening with that part of our site. Thanks for your patience, keep checking the site, but it might still be a little while before it's all worked out. Steve Kondris DAZ Productions, Inc.

oh coolio thanks for the anniversary news looking forward to it (wow almost a year amazing). throws bannana to code monkey gotta keep them happy too. thanks for the up to date info on the update.

Maybe the Whatsit, got cross connected to the rotating Cunningham wich in turn caused the Henweigh to quit working?

How much does a Henweigh and is it in the Platinum club as a poseable object?

xoconostle ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2003 at 11:45 PM

Take a deep breath, Steve, and thank you for keeping us informed. Communication like this is very reassuring to your customer base.

"The loss of the Platinum Club membership appears to be isolated to just a handful of individuals ... " Woo! Hoo! I'm a member of an elite minority! (Yes, I've already whined to DAZ directly. Is sales@daz3d.com the right person to whine at? I don't want to spam everyone there. Not yet, anyway.) Sigh

judith ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 12:28 AM

I sent my whine to webmaster@daz3d.com, Crescent.... uhmmmm, and also used that nifty little contact dialogue box on the site.

Wow! and it's speedy too!

EricofSD ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 12:35 AM

Charlie, in aviation, we know that aircraft winshields must sustain a 5 lb bird impact at cruise speed. So the real question that we all ask when we want to be funny is "What's the cruise speed of a 5 lb bird?"

EricofSD ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 1:49 AM

When the first Lear Jet was in its certification stage, it had a problem with the high (400 knott plus) cruise speed. Lear rigged up a machine that shot chickens at the windshield at that speed for cert/testing purposes and every time it broke the windshield. So, they put an angled strip along the windshield to split the chicken in half and that way, it distributed the impact load and withstood the strike. So, today, if you hear a mechanic or pilot refer to that angled metal on the windshield as a "chicken splitter", well, now you know why. And if your parents ever wondered why the stores had a shortage of 5 pound chickens back in the 50's, well, they now know too.

nikitacreed ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 2:39 AM

I'm part of that minority whose Platinum Club membership is gone. LOL! Emailing now! Site is looking cool though! ;o)

fauve ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 3:03 AM

Looks like I'm also in that number. I want my Platinum Club back! sniffles

Kelderek ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 3:45 AM

Me too... Maybe we should start a support group for former Platinum Club members ;-)

Larry F ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 4:30 AM

Count me in. An ever increasing 'minority' 'twould seem...

Dagon ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 5:14 AM

Add me to the growing list... :-(

Orio ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 5:35 AM

I too have the Platinum Club membership disregarded. :-( Maybe it's not a small list after all.

Yep, me too. Platinum membership has vanished. Is it really a minority? But they have a wishlist now!!! That's great. And I appreciate too the fixing of the back to the very start problem, when an article list had more than one page.

JDexter ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 7:28 AM

My membership is gone too. How many finger ARE on that hand? JDexter

Fashionably_Late ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 7:41 AM

::raises a hand:: My name's Molly, and I'm a Platinum Clubaholic. Maybe its a new program to help fight the addiction? In other words, my membership's not showin' up either... looks like we have an epidemic. Molly

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 7:43 AM

My membership isn't showing either. Neither is any of the details of what I have bought the past year (I can see a list, but all the detail is gone). They are going to have a busy day. Hope they get it fixed before the weekend officially starts.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 8:13 AM

Add me to the minority

tonymouse ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 8:16 AM

Mee too, But I am sure they will fix it.

Dave-So ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 8:16 AM

I think that minority is turning into a majority, at least here :) I've written the appropriate emails..last night when I first posted this topic, but not working yet...How dare those guys go to bed when all that work needs to be done :)LOL... The new store is great however...the wish list is something I have been wishing for... The whole thing is faster...plus login is now easier...you don't lose it when you leave or whatever. Great job DAZ....now restore my PC so I can buy something :)

SKondris ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 8:39 AM

Ok, well, I shall shake the monkey's cage some more this morning. He told me he saw thousands of platinum club members in his db tables, etc. So, I hope this group (though expanding apparently) IS still a minority. I'll get to the bottom of this and hopefully have a more thorough explanation for you later today. Thanks again, and yes, in the meantime, just keep emailing webmaster@daz3d.com so that we can set up your account manually again. Steve

Richard T ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 8:44 AM

Add another one to the list (dicktay)

FishNose ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 9:13 AM

Daio ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 9:31 AM
