Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
One easy way to solve it is to bring it into UVMapper and choose Split vertices. Then save and voila! Crisp edges :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Many modelers for Poser use the free UVmapper by Steve Cox, or the pay UvmapperPro .. not sure if there is a mac version ..but you can go look. It has a lot of nifty useful features, not all of which have to do with mapping :)o.k. I was successful on one but it was just a box, and then I keep crashing when I export the .obj and the bar says "facets" uvmapper just freezes. My objects are not just boxes they have othe edges to them like molding on the outside of a building. Any ideas....and thanks by the way Sharon and everyone else.
you'll be able to do it in LW, what you need to do is select a polygon and split it off so it has the same polys but more points..like a cube has 6 polys and 8 points but if you split it it will have 8 polys and 24 points coz each poly is seperate....uvmapper will do this to the whole model or parts you select but it can get tricky in your type of situation where you have smooth curves so you need to do it on individual polys where you want a sharp edge.....sorry i don't know the command but its called disconnect in cinema 4d...Steve
Heh well one hand has been in bandage for almost a week now, forgot the name of it but it comes when you type too much (at work even) and it hurts. Ant today I injured my other hand on a shard of glass while trying to do garden work. Seems someone threw a bottle or something inder the hedge where I stuck my hand :o/ So right now I have only a few of my usual "type-fingers" left :o) Nothing serious, but awkward and annoying. And painfull.... I had to get a tetanus shot too...

Here is the easiest way, go to Detail>Points>Unweld, and voila all the polygons are now separate entities, that is all there is to it. With all due respect to Steve Cox's wonderful UvMapper, all your UV mapping should be done in Lightwave which has really great uv mapping functions.

O.k. here is the deal. I am makeing simple buildings in Lightwave. I mean simple. A small ledge, 4 side, and roof. Now when I save it as an .obj and bring it into Poser it becomes beveled. Any ideas. I need it crisp.
