I sent an e-mail to my programmer about this myself! He's going to try to make a mock code to allow you in without it, but since it is a price of $0.00 I'm sure no harm willl come from it. Worst case scenario is if the CC company charged our mrchant account fees for processing... making us lose money for giving away free models. But no harm can come to the customer in any event! I don't even have access to the secure server information, so you're safe to download if you want to. Tx. Pam

Dizzie ( ) posted Thu, 24 July 2003 at 8:24 PM

I'm nervous enough about giving my CC info for a site purchase since I've had it compromised that way before, so I don't want to give it out for a $0 purchase ....I don't how secure your security system is....so I'll pass too. Thanks anyway!

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 24 July 2003 at 8:51 PM

I don't think you're going to get many takers Pam if you ask for credit card numbers:) Even those of us who have purchased and are enjoying your models are not likely to provide a credit card number for a free item. A while back I asked about the security and you were going to check as to why the lock does not appear when purchasing from your site. Did you ever find out? One other thing: When I order I like to receive a receipt. I always print the receipt at check out or save the web page, but it wouldn't take much to add the price paid to the acknowledgement and download link, as a confirmation of item price. This is a pretty standard practice when purchasing on line.

Arien ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 7:37 AM

Just to add to the rest of the comments here... I did try to follow through with the order, and used a credit card number that is used for testing, and that at least 2 online shopping carts that I've used for sites give out to the people installing them as non-existant numbers to test that the system's working. First time I got a "amount can't be 0.00, try again" message. Second time I got a "duplicate authorization". Considering that the site doesn't seem to be secure, I'll have to pass on this too. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but why can't you just set it as a download? It's more cumbersome to do things this way.

All the above is true. I would like to buy your Mammals Collection, but I won't type my cc # into a non-secure website. Is there some other way you can accommodate me? Your mammals look fantastic :o). Really love your horse - it looks so much better than the poor P4 horse ;o). Laurie

LaurieA ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 12:17 PM

Have you ever tried PayPal? Not that it's perfect either, but I have used that on occasion and I know others here have as well. And I'd be willing to wait a few days to download my purchase ;o). I don't mean to sound ungrateful either. Quite the contrary. I think your prices were a tad prohibitive before but now you've brought them within the range of possibility for me and I'm sure lots of other folks. That will only benefit you. Setting up a secure website will make it sooooo much easier for you to make sales :o). And I do wish good sales for you...your products look wonderful :o) Laurie

mamba-negra ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 12:30 PM

Laurie, I bought a couple things from them using paypal, and everything went fine. The correct email address to use is mentioned on one of the pages (maybe the collections page). I agree that their animals look great... eric

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY! IT IS A SECURE SERVER!

I just e-mailed my programmer and if he doesn't respond to the thread personally, I'll get back to you after I've spoken with him. Please know that we have not had ANY PROBLEMS in this AREA... EVER! (Incorrect pricing and some shopping cart item errors, Yes! But even that has all been corrected now.)

Of the MANY models we've sold on our site, and the MANY models sold on "SPECIAL" recently, all has been fine. The server requires the cc info. in order to unlock the model zile for download and this is why it need to be entered. But if ya'll are worried about our security it may be of some consolation in helping to relieve your doubts to know that WE would not be real hip to having EVERY STINKING MODEL WE OWN AND SELL ON AN UNSERCURE SERVER. It wouldn't make very much sense to offer a freebie then, would it? :O They'd all be free. lol ;)

I appreciate your concerns and thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will take the models down but will get back to this thread after I have spoken to the programmer. (One of us will... I'm betting on ME! :/ Until then... Ciao,

Pam

Easy Pam, remember your blood pressure. :-) Perfectly natural for folks to be concerned about their CC info, when they've become programmed (no offense to anyone) to expect the little padlock. As an outside source, I can tell you that Pam is correct, everything is quite secure, and you can feel safe ordering, even if you don't see the little padlock. It's prevented from showing due to the layout of the site, which I'm sure Pam is handling with her programmer (with a baseball bat, by this point). :-) In any event, no one needs to stress, it's all good. And Pam, thanks for the freebies! ChromeTiger

Pamola ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 8:29 PM

It's been a day from Hell! Noit because of ya'll, but why my stress facotr came out/. Chrom Tiger.. your note cracked me up! Thanks for the tension reliever. It's not rocket science, it's only 3D CG, right? But it's our livelihood nonetheless. As promised, I am cutting and pasting the direct response I received from my programmer: Basically when an order form is entered it is posted to a non secure url, BUT once they hit submit its goes secure, thats why they are not seeing the lock. PLUS using frames causes that to happens as well. Here is what I will do, I can add some server redirection to make all order forms travel through our secure server certificate, that way they get the "little lock". But "yes" the forms are being submitted to a secure payment gateway (this is the only way it can happen with PlugnPay). I will take care of he "lock" problem ....and all should be well in Poserland. So, if everyone feels safe enough to download our guitar, I am going to listen to the real one we modeled this fine musical instrument after (except for the color) have some cocktails, and dance as if no one were watching. pg Any more problems tonight will have to be addressed tomorrow when I am hungover and have no defense skills.. so please... be kind!

Dizzie ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 9:05 PM

but we still have to submit our CC number, right...I'll still pass....LOLOL

LaurieA ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 11:23 PM

Sorry! Didn't mean to send up your blood pressure...hehehehe. ChromeTiger is right - we HAVE been programmed to see that little lock when we enter our precious cc numbers. It's the only way we have of knowing that we are on a secure server. A lot of us are paranoid about that, and rightly so, since it's so easy to swipe info off of the information superhighway ;o). Laurie

onnetz ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 12:33 AM

I've been programming websites for about 4 yrs now. and you should be at the secure url before you enter any info... I dont want to raise the tension any more than it already is, but the best way I can explain is this... say your outside in an open area... you take your clothes off there and then run inside so nobody can see you.... now your safe but someone still could have seen you before you got inside...

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.

If you can't eat it or play with it,

just pee on it and walk away. :-)

Thank you Pamola, I don't have a problem with providing my information again........afterall, I think every poser store in the world already has it! LOL! genny

Pamola ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 12:59 PM

Genny lol! onnetz. Your point is indeed correct, the problem has been remedied and the data entry page is secured. But as you well know orders cannot be sent/processed without going through a secure server. It is framesets that throw this off but when the data is sent it IS secure. Regardless, it is now as you would all have it... SAfe with the lock on the data entry page. Check it out..... and you DO NOT need to enter your payment info... only your name, etc. info. Tx. pg

Yay. And I behaved myself pretty well last night. And there were such cute boys there. MAde me happy to be alive! ; ) Yehaaa. Anyone going to SIGGRAPH besides me and Tom? I'd love to meet some of you folks that I talk to all the time here. Well, thanks one and all for the tips. Chrome Tiger, how's the heat down there lately. I may be coming your way in September. Cheers All! Pam

HeavyRay ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 4:08 PM

It's true!! I just went over there to scarf them up, and no credit info was needed. You're offered an immediate download URL, and a URL valid for 48 hrs is emailed to you, in the event that one wants to download at a later time. I've become a recent convert to IW43d, after "dismissing" them months ago, when the prices were a bit beyond my hobbyist budget (i.e. what my wife lets me spend!) I've taken advantage of the recent specials and have been VERY pleased both with the models AND the service by Pam & Tom ... Ray

Pamola ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 5:21 PM

Gratzi, Ray.

A random name will be drawn from the the mailing list each month but YOU MUST be on our mailing list to be eligible. Please don't miss the opportunity to get free stuff from us... We've got some Cool new stuff coming out real soon! FANX - pg

The heat is tolerable, as long as ya have AC running nearby that you can duck into. I'm nocturnal, and not an outdoors type, so I don't deal directly with the heat much. And if you're coming down in September, and you'll be in the Orlando area, give me a ring and let me know, maybe we can set something up one evening. The night life around here I find to be more teen-geared, but there's some great places to eat around town... CT

Y'know...folks keep forgetting that this whole Internet thingie is a crap-shoot anyway. It's a miracle that the bloody thing works in the first place and when there are problems, when there are kinks in the giant garden hose of information, well, that's life! I teach my students that they shouldn't complain when the silly thing gets twitchy. Since most of them were'nt even born when there were no computers, and most of them can't write because they can "keyboard," they just don't comprehend that electronics and programming are, to use their own term, "vaporware" and can vanish just as easily as they appeared. I have not downloaded the free gifts yet. I'll get around to it eventually and I want them because the quality is extremly good and I can think of a couple of scenes where they would fit nicely. But we need to remember that the gift is just that: a gift. Thank you for the gift.
