DAZ recently sent us brokered artists another beta, I thought you guys might be interested to see just a little bit of what can be done using Mike 3... The attached image shows a MOR pose I've been working on for Mike 3, via creative use of the dials available in the current beta, as well as one or two additional morphs I've made myself. Mike 3 comes with a couple of morphs type that you haven't seen in any DAZ figure before as a result of the feedback given by the beta testers.... Enjoy P.S. I deleted my previous thread with "Musclebound" in the title out of fear people might think it was an ad...

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Wed, 27 August 2003 at 11:19 PM

Looks pretty cool

DgerzeeBoy ( ) posted Wed, 27 August 2003 at 11:58 PM

Looks great. I hope DAZ has corrected the unnatural, over-stretched, half-moon shape of the pectorals that occurs when Mike 2's arms are raised overhead.

wolf, this is a morph that I'm working on for it utilizing their morphs... and keep in mind that both my MOR pose and Michael 3 are STILL under development and in beta stage

This attached image shows a lighter-weight Michael 3, which I believe is much more along the lines of what you're looking for... the version I showed used additional morphs to increase the size of certain parts and alter the character to MY specific style... Please keep in mind that anytime someone says they're showing a pose/morph they made it's derived from that particular artist's specific tastes.

As well, I often use some pretty extreme lighting poses that sometimes cause oddities in certain areas... since this was just a quick shot since i thought you guys might want to see some of what's in store, I didn't bother to adjust that lighting for less oddities. In the render attached here I used a slightly softer lighting pose.

And yes, the hands and feet are designed to be made larger, however there is currently an unresolved issue with the hand scaling that was not foreseen previously, and they need to make some adjustments to them. As such I will not display the larger hands in combiantion with the morphs at this time.

I decided to, for my MOR file, take into account a little bit of what you said and tweaked the settings accordingly....

Please bear in mind that the attached image is not DAZ's, but mine, utilizing the morphs that were available to me, and having made a couple of extra ones myself to tweak the areas that didn't suit my taste.

Wolf, I took into account the critique you offered, and you should be informed that DAZ's modeler's spent a great deal of time sitting in front of various reference materials of Bodybuilders, etc. to come up with their morphs.... the image you critiqued is mostly my mistakes, not their's. (see image in post 5 for soemthing *closer to DAZ's Full Body morphs)

Thank for the critique, though, I think it helped a bit in my MOR pose :)*

Migal ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 1:43 AM

Highly accurate morph work. Note what the steroid use has done to his twig and berries.

Just kidding. His chest and abs look excellent. That squared ridge at the lower outside of his quads needs to be smoothed (looks like somebody cut the bottom of the muscle away a few inches above the knee), but I'm sure they're still messing around with it. Musculature morphs are extremely difficult.

Staby ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 2:35 AM

Is the face one of yor mor poses or it was developed by DAZ so He doesn't look like Vicky twin? Anyway it is shaping well, thank you for posting!

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 2:42 AM

Sorry it looks like Vicky trying to be Mike. I really tink it's neat though, But the morphs are just not right looking they look sort of creepy.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 2:45 AM

file_73603.jpg

I do like some of the stuff you did with the neck and arm creases, But the chest morph is looking more like armor...

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 2:52 AM

I just figured out what the abdomen and chest of Mike3 reminds me of, The Poser 1 male figure. Daz Should have just made Mike better, I can see your having all kinds of problems getting Vicky to look like a man. That explains why Mike 3 looks so freaky wierd and creepy in the chest and abdomen area. That is great if your doing androids and monsters, But hows that going to compeat with the Mike 2 figure if it looks freaky wierd and creepy?

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 3:01 AM

I hope that those wierd areas in the skin are toneing turned waaaay up. If so then I I like everything but the chest it's too square. and pushed together too much at the center.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 3:04 AM

The chest is also too flat on mike 3.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 3:06 AM

Good work, It looks like you and cat have been working hard on this figure, I guys did a wonderful job, But I still think it needs tweeking.

DraX ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 3:11 AM

Staby, that's my own face pose using DAZ's face morphs. and Mesh_Magick, there are morphs to push together the chest in the center... because different muscular builds will result in different types of chests there... I wanted the pecs to be close together for this character. P.S. Mesh_Magick, is it necessary for you to make 6 posts in order to get your point across? you do it in every thread and the ebots get annoying ;)

DraX ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 4:28 AM

file_73604.jpg

BTW, to clarify... the images with my logo on them are the ones based around my specific style... the one without is pretty close (though *slightly* tweaked) to the current state of one of the FBMs... The attached image is a close-up of the face pose.

Staby ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 4:35 AM

The face you made looks very good. Could you post a pic with a neutral expression (front and 3/4). Thanks in advance

dirk5027 ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 7:32 AM

Mesh you have to remember he is still a work in progress, when he is completed, I would bet he's killer. I'm also a fan of Mike2 and will continue to use him, but mike3 is a needed and welcomed addition. drax that face is great

Dave ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 7:53 AM

all else fails you could tranplants M2's head to M3's body. Hmmmm...sounds like an idea...lol dave

dirk5027 ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 8:00 AM

I read in a post somewhere that vicky3(don't have her) has a counterpart that has v3's head on the vicky 2 body, is that true?? I also read v3 is very system intense, so if we could have m3's head on m2's body it wouldn't tax your system so much, is that true is that possible?? (I could have misunderstood the post i read, am I making sense I just got up LOL)

Dave ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 8:13 AM

Yeah it can be done. There's also a V2 head on V3's body and a M2 head on V3's body. Courtesy of me. Any of the millenium figures are memory intensive PERIOD. dave

dirk5027 ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 8:15 AM

Great dave...don't forget that when M3 comes out, I'd sure buy it

wrpspeed ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 8:22 AM

dirk , i read somewhere that they will be putting a m3 head on m2 body so we will still be able the m2 clothing. cnat remeber the post though

dirk5027 ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 8:23 AM

excellent..that's what i was hoping for

Jackson ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 8:53 AM

Superheros and body builders are nice but how easy is it to make him look more like a normal guy? You know, not nearly so many bumps and ripples. Maybe some flab and a slight gut? Or a skinny guy? BTW: thanks for the previews.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 9:00 AM

Jackson. I think he is very versitile and can be used to create a normal guy with ease.

Caly ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 9:09 AM

Daz almost always gives you a, for example, V3 head on a V2 body, figure. Like someone else above, I'm pretty sure that M3 will eventually take center stage away from M2. New Tech usually does that. We're not all using Windows 3.0, or Mac OS 7... ;)

DraX: Hmmmm.. that's the best head I've seen for M3 thus far. So there is hope for the old boy yet!!!

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 10:02 AM

Michael 3 is one of the best models I've worked with so far, aside from Vickie 3. I feel lucky that Daz has put so much work into these models as I could never do such a great job and if you look at some of the models that other folks have been doing that are in the same price range, you will not see better. Most look more like cartoons than people. Mind you, I am not slamming them, they have their place, but I couldn't use them in most of the work I do. Mike has a ton of morphs, I have not posted any because although he is a wip I don't feel comfortable posting a ton of pics here. You will either like him or not. You have the choice to buy him or not. I remember how many folks complained about Vickie 3, yet still bought her, and now some folks rarely use Vickie 2 anymore. I know it's hard to wait, and not see what he's really like. He still has a few tweaks left but all for the better. As for the joints, you will never get them all to look totally human...but Das has come very close, and continues to work on them. Take a look at some of the models available and some of the prices and I think you will see that Daz has made every effort to please folks here by offering quality and decent prices. Marque

Mason ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 11:12 AM

Well one flaw I can point out right off the bat is he's missing his twig and berries. Shoot, be as muscular as you want but life's gonna suck without some sex organs. Talk about a self esteem issue. All the chics dig this guy but he's scared to death of sleeping with one of them cause they'll find out and mock him. Perhaps its too many steroids at work. All that muscles can't be natural. Even intersexed people need to pee now and then. Boy, talk about a major flaw. Makes those nit picks about elbow joints a bit petty hmm... (BTW, that's called humor of one didn't catch on).

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 11:31 AM

Say what you will Mason but it could be pretty handy if you could detach them to play sports! 8^P Just think of all the pain you could avoid. lol Marque

Anybody want the name of my plastic surgeon? lol dave

JoeyAristophanes ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 12:23 PM

DraX, the only thing that doesn't look quite right is the distribution of the body fat layer. In some areas, like the rib cage and the sides, it looks like he has 1 or 2%, while he's clearly fleshier in the shoulders, arms, and thighs -- all of which may be contributing to the "body armor" look. It's a nice start, but it still needs some overall balance in body tone.

DraX ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 12:25 PM

StrixOwl, Mike 3 comes with articulate genitals, I just chose not to show them for two reasons... 1. I don't enjoy playing with male genitalia (unless of course it's my own ;) 2. It's not an integral part, in my opinion, of the full body morph.

DraX ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 12:27 PM

Thanks, Joey... I've still got some tweaking to do for this MOR pose to get it to exactly how I want it... was using Stocky/Heavy morphs to increase the overall size of the arms to my preference, but still have to work on the tone a bit...

DigitalVixxen ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 12:57 PM

Drat! I want to see male genitalia!!

Dave ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 1:40 PM

twigs and berries, eh? talk nice and you might get to see M3's. lol dave

RawArt ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 2:08 PM

I could post a pic of the "twigs and berries" textures I put together for my M3 package.....but I am sure they would just make you cringe LOL Rawnrr

DigitalVixxen ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 2:09 PM

Well.. be careful... Catharina did something similar (so I heard, never actually got to see it) and they removed it from the boards.

Here is a sample render in my gallery of one of my upcoming textures in the package......(no twigs & berries)....but I am sure you can imaging why they would cause a cringe LOL Rawnrr

Can we see the back muscles? Thanks! Jay

ronstuff ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 4:21 PM

WOW! - great stuff, DraX! thanks for the previews. I'm especially happy to see that we finally have a face that can be morphed into a square-jawed-hero type and those brow morphs with the furrows and creases are awesome - not to mention a great chin dimple! The muscles look good and I'm sure will please a lot of people who prefer exaggerated beefy-types, but what about some slim athletic swimmer-types or marathon runner-types - even ordinary average-guy types - I hope those are not overlooked in the rush to satisfy the demand for super-heros (not that there's anything wrong with super-heros ;-)

Xena ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 5:09 PM

Heh heh heh, comparing M2 and M3's pec's - who is the one who has 'boobs' LMAO Drax, outstanding job. I had a play with the musculature last night and could see how someone (like you!) could make a huge guy that was realistic. Being a wrestling fan, anything other than big and muscular looks kinda weird to me nowadays ;)

DraX ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 5:20 PM

ronstuff, there's a wide variety of morphs available... you can very easily get an athletic character :) As soon as I finish making my current morph into a pose file (don't want to risk losing the guy ;))

Lyrra ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 5:24 PM

Thread moved to showcase

dirk5027 ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 5:36 PM

i have a question for Lyrra why has this thread been there all day and as soon as you get online it's moved. No wonder we don't see any mike3 previews, everything gets whisked somewhere else. Mike3 is a MAJOR release in the Poser world and anything about him should be able to be posted anywhere on this site. I don't usually say much but this is ridiculous.

JoeyAristophanes ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 5:55 PM

People, give it a rest. The thread got moved. Big freakin deal. Yeah, if this was about V3, it would have stayed, but let's just get over it and move on, okay?

dirk5027 ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 6:11 PM

I feel bad for all the folks working so hard to give us previews and products..that's all...if I was them I wouldn't post anything at all, I'd post it elsewhere. Thanks for all your work guys..

rasputina ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 6:27 PM

oh I dunno Xena, M2 has traps that'd make Goldberg run to the gym. :)

redon634 ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 6:31 PM

The moderators are getting me trained, though. I knew when the thread disappeared where to go to find it. Anyway, I think M3 looks great in this post and in the others I've seen. I also appreciate all the posts that were initially in the Poser forum - I would never have looked here otherwise.
