Cheers from Paris (france)
Hi MatrixMode. Nice to see you here :) This forum is a great place to ask questions and get honest opinions about your work. There is no reason why you should delay posting it because we were all beginners once. May we sugest buying Susans Kitchens book "Real World Bryce"? It is the Bryce Bible and worth every penny! Willem and Madeleine (Brycers for just over a year).
Thanks so much for the warm welcome! Yes, Flak, it really feels like family here. Tomorrow I will prowl the local bookstores in search of "Real Bryce World". Thanks for the tip, hyperborea :-). @ pidjy, I hope to someday soon visit France. Some of my relatives in Trieste, Italia have been there and they loved it. I grew up in Trieste. Have you heard of it? A beautiful city by the sea. @ danamo, it seems Loreena is perfect for any mood. Hauntingly beautiful, inspirational music. It pulled me thru some very rough times. Ironically, Metallica seems to also have a calming effect. Strange but true. Guess my neurons are a little twisted, lol. That's where my "art" steps in and helps keep me on an even keel. I look forward to sharing. Thanks again!

"Strange but true"? If you're talking about Metallica, shouldn't that be "Sad But True"? :^) I'll bet Doublecrash (Stefano)has heard of Trieste. :^) Welcome to the community!
This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Greetings matrixmode and welcome to the Bryce forum, (this is the best forum and don't let anyone tell you otherwise). We are all pretty harmless and any questions you may have will eventually be given an understandable answer, although with the madness in this place you may have to get through a lot of giggles to find them. lol 8) Post an image to your gallery ASAP and let us see what your up to. Catlin
Thanks Catlin! As long as there's plenty of madness and giggles I can rest assured that I'm among friends. I appreciate the encouragement. At this point I dont even know enough to formulate a reasonably intelligent question but I'm certain that before too long I'll be making a pest of myself here. :-)

"Relatives & friends won't see to much of you though." This is so true. I get so "lost" in creating that I totally lose track of time. Luckily my lady friend is very patient and supportive through all this. Truly an angel. Thanks for welcoming me in and reminding me to eat too, lol. Think I'll go and grab a snack.

Welcome, as for Metallica, was listening to 'em in the car on the way to work this morning :-), I also love listening to Rage and NIN when I'm working. Not forgetting the hippy moments when I dig out Chronicles of the Black Sword (Hawkwind) or some Ozzric Tentacles. :-)

hey welcome matrixmode! Yeah, like the others said already, dont worry bout posting your stuff, most of what I learned about bryce was thru reading this forum, very nice folks here......that nevvvver sleep lol. Here are a few tips to get you started....and keep the peace on the homefront....... 1. while rendering you can......put in a load of laundry, wash the dishes, dust your desk, make lunch, windex your pc screen, make the bed, walk the dog, 2. if your lady is starting to look impatient at you for spending too much time brycing you can.......run her a long hot bath (sure to keep her outta your hair for at least 30 minutes) 3. and finally....and this is important, save, save save, and save under different file names so you wont loose all your hard work some of us, including myself had to learn this one the hard way lol. Have fun, Teri R
Welcome to the Bryce clan :) As for the music. I currently listen a lot of music by Evanescense. And also a lot of jazz, but I also have periods in which I like to listen to Linkin Park, classical music or hiphop/rap.

Welcome to the world of Brycing matrixmode! So, did you render the obligatory shiny metal sphere hovering over water picture yet? ;) It can be quite a powerful program depending on how it's used and what you do with it. Also don't forget to have fun, no point in pulling your hair out if you don't get it right the first time. Besides, that's what this forum is here for - to find answers in the archives/FAQ or from fellow brycers.

Cool Pedrith. I hope Loreena is up to doing interviews again. I heard she lost her fiance in a tragic accident a while back. She was scheduled to be interviewed by Art Bell on the "Coast to Coast a.m." radio program when the tragedy occured. Art Bell retired shortly after that so I thought that I might never get to hear her discuss her music and inspirations.
Art often played her "Mummer's Dance" as bumper music and perhaps introduced a lot more people to her unique songs. Now that Art is back to hosting the weekend show perhaps he will interview her at last. Oh, and by the way, I love Canada. I live in WA state and have quite a few Canadian friends. I even wrote a public service announcement for Canadian Broadcasting concerning canoeing safety called "If you drink, don't paddle, eh"? ;-)
Okay, that's it! Now I know for sure that I've landed on a very unique planet filled with souls much like mine. The zany humor, the eclectic taste in music and above all else a passion for creating and sharing. I do believe I'll park my late model shiny metal sphere over there near that body of water and just leave it in hover mode...hmmmmmmmm...that would make a cool image! Wonder if it's been done yet? ;-) Wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more.

I went and bought Bryce 5 today! I've only been using a PC for about a year. About a month after I bought it I registered with Renderosity. It was here that I first learned about the large number of programs available. At the time I had dialup and it was slow going but I looked at a lot of beautiful artwork and read as much as I could about each program. I only wish I could afford to have them all! I tried my hand at Paint Shop Pro and Terragen and was instantly hooked and was eager to jump into 3d. I'm still learning to use the PC and I have no training in art other than high school (a very long time ago cough 17yrscough:-) so needless to say, I have a great deal to learn! I'll try to wait until I at least learn a few basics before I inflict my "art" on you all. HEHEHEH. Maybe with a little perseverance, alot of studying and lots of feedback from the good people here I can release my innervisions and see them reach fruition. In the meantime I have a pot of coffee, some good music to "study" by (Loreena McKennitt and Metallica) and the inspiration that I have found here. Thank you all!
