What directory is it saving it to? Also, make sure that when it is done rendering, you click on the save icon on the upper right corner of the picture. It will usually default to a BMP file. Just use the pulldown and choose JPG, name your file and..presto...saved. Hope this has helped you out. James (timefighter)
You may want to ensure you have updated to at least 4.12 release; you can find it at the E-on website. Some thoughts; have you defragged your hard disk? When the render is finished, are you clicking on the small disk icon at the top of the render to finish? In the rendering editor window, do you have render to screen or render to disk checked? I've never had this problem, and am not at my computer that has Vue on it, but this is what I can think of off the top of my head.
have you defragged your hard disk? I can't. When I go to defrag, it tells me there are errors that need to be fixed, then when I run scandisk, it says it fixed all errors but defrag still tells me there are errors and will not continue defragging. >When the render is finished, are you clicking on the small disk icon at the top of the render to finish? Yes. > In the rendering editor window, do you have render to screen or render to disk checked? Render to Screen.
Hmmm...your having the same issues I have...try saving it to a floopy disk...until you figure out what's going on... You could try clearing out your temporary folder click tools in your Microsoft Explorer and click internet options and then under the genral tab click delete tempery internet files. I hope that helps. If you figure out what's wrong let me know! Oh you might also have to update your Microsoft Windows. Johannah
It sort of sounds like your hard disk is about to crash. I would make sure to back-up any important data why there's still a chance. I lost a lot of data once when I ignored the early symptoms coming from my hard drive. I remember one of the first signals I noticed was the drive was making a repeated 'whoosh' sound as the drive head thrashed around trying to read the disk.

OK, UZ give us a bit more about your system & hardware informations. This seems to me an OS problem. I can TRY to figure out the reason, but I'll be needing those info. Defragment problem you having is pretty simple. There are some OR at least one program running in the background, while you do defrag. That's why every time Defrag encountars that program it gives you an error msg and stops. Just shut down your anti-virus, firewall etc etc before you defrag and it should do the job fine. Even though I hardly doubt defrag has anything to do with JPG option.
As FearaJinx says, try deleting your temporary internet files. I don't know what OS you're using but there is an issue with XP that stops anything but .BMP's being saved when the Temp files get too big. I've not experienced it with anything but IE, but that's not to say it's not related. Oh and also I'd do what sittingblue says 'cos it really does sound like your drives on it's last legs (half a year or not). Could be something mundane like a virus checker running in the background whilst you defrag though. It's always best to be on the safe side :)
Well guys, don't laugh at me, my computer has a 266MHz Pentium II cpu with 192MB RAM running Windows 98 SE. Slow or not, it gets the job done, and time isn't really an issue for me. But I still don't understand how temporary internet files could be related to this. I'll try it out, though. Thanks for the tips...hope this gets working soon.
Don't worry, no one is laughing at you. I have one of those in my house too. Anyway, Win 98 itself is an amusement park. It's very hard to pin point exactly why it's not saving jpg (in 98). As 98 has a serious registry issue, that even all the service pack couldn't fix. But, you can go through a series of check list and see if they help ... 1. I don't think Temp file has anything to do with it. 2. If it is your hard drive, I don't know ... I've never seen such case. But it never hurts to keep it clean and make back ups. Some times defrag solves lots of problems. 3. If the above don't help, then you need to run the "anti-virus" program, NOT the "scan disk". Perdon my saying, my 3 yr old niece does a better job cleaning my PC, then scan disk. 4. Your machine is quiet close to Vue's minimum requirement. So, it very much be that the software is lacking on enough resources. See if you can save a picture from online or from photoshop in "jpg" format. If you can, then you know Vue might need a reinstall or more resources. hope it helps.
The problem you're having defragging your disk is a W98 problem. Too much stuff running in the background. Easy fix. Go to System Information in the System Tools Menu. Look for the item under Tools that says System Configuration Utility. At the startup tab, to to the option with all the sub-boxes under it...I think it's something like Custom Startup. Uncheck all those boxes. Hit apply and then ok. YOur machine will reboot. This will allow your machine to start up in safe mode without loading a bunch of drivers and stuff. Your screen will look funky, but don't worry about that. Go ahead and defrag now. Once defragging is finished, go back into the same area (System Tools, System Info, Sys Config Utility) and check the Normal Setup. Then hit apply, ok. This will reboot your machine into normal mode. The only hassle is having to move your desktop icons back where you want them.
I would still back up the drive even if you don't think that it is going to crash. Just because a drive is not that old doesn't mean it's foolproof. I've had a drive die that was only two months old, but even if the hardware runs fine, a disk can sometimes get frazzled in a power outage or a bad restart, which I've had happen as well. All of Windows is a rather nasty critter and got to keep a sharp eye on it.
OT: The thing about jpg's not saving (or trying to save as BMP) in IE is something that was also in Win98 and up until recently was in Win2K as well, though I hadn't noticed it lately as doing it consistently after a certain point. I do still have the odd file that won't save as jpeg randomly or from a certain site. I think it has to do with the fact that an image was saved as a BMP at some point and then converted to jpeg by some program that leaves part of the header, as it seems to be more prevalent in sites that offer downloadable wallpaper for the desktop. This probably has nothing to do with Vue though, since the Temporary Internet Files are generally that, for IE.

Hey everyone, I'm new to this awesome program, and I created an image but every time I try to save it as a jpg it tells me that it couldn't save and I should check the free disk space on my hard drive! I have 10Gb free, can anyone tell me what the problem here is? Thanks ahead of time.
