I picked up Vue 3...nice program for the price. Been using it and it seems to be very buggy. I have installed it on a PIII machine with 3 different video cards,256M ram, and with Win98, nt4 and Win2000. It still keeps resetting when I use it for more than 10 minutes. I installed it on an Amd 550 with the three different video cards(with latest drivers),128m ram, and the three different operating systems and it still resets. Downloaded the upgrade went thru the entire process with the two machines,os's and video cards and it still is resetting. I am at a loss....it renders so nice when it works but I can not trust it for large projects because it is always resetting. Any input and/or advice would be appreciated. [Got to go lay down now...everytime I close my eyes I see win install screens or computer innards :-) ] -very frustrated- (p.s.-the two systems mentioned are stable with other programs like Poser,Max, and Photoshop)

do you have the 3.1 patch installed it needs that for win2k....Steve

Vue 3.1 works perfect for me on Win2K. So far there was no crash. Check if there are any programs running in background, which are installed on both machines. Make shure, your systems are set up properly. Your descriptions sounds like a too much overclocked and/or poor cooled system. wolfdd

Yep, I installed the 3.1 patch..it made no difference on any of the machines. None of the machines are overclocked and everything else works fine...Photoshop,Dreamweaver,Painter6,Swish,Flash,Max,Poser4,Rhino,Painter3D,Bryce4..all are ok?????????? -Still Confused-

I am not sure if this is a solution but when things like that happened to me, I would fully uninstall the program, clean the registry, remove all files from the Windows/temp and "My Document" and last but not least, do a defrag before my naxt reinstallation (good habit to shut off all TSR eg, screensaver, Antivirus utility etc...) Since you are using such a wide variety of hardware in your tests, it makes me wonder if there is a common piece of software installed on all that is in conflict with Vue 3.1. I don't want to bad-mouth any product so you should take this as anecdotal advice only- not necessarily completely factual. I've frequently found that the McAffee line of virus software, etc conflicts with other software. I'm often asked for help with system problems concerning a single app. If the system is running McAfee my 1st stab at the problem is to disable M. My seat-of-the-pants impression is that it solves the problem about 60% of the time. Again, this is based completely upon unscientific personal experience. At any rate, if you've added additional software that monitors or manages aspects of the operating system, I'd try disabling them one at a time and re-testing Vue. There is a reasonable chance one of them is the culprit.

If you need e-onsoft's support, you have to wait a little. They closed the office for a few days for vacation. Believe me that's the first time since longtime they take a little rest. Guitta

Sorry 'bout taking a while to get back and update on this. I was installing Vue on clean machines after the first round of os and video card substitutions...no av software or anything...just Vue ,the computer,a newly formatted hd, and the os. After Vue would choke I then installed the other programs to test them. The 3 video cards I was using were an ATI Rage Pro Pci, Ati Rage 128 AGP with 32meg, and an old Graphics Blaster Extreme 8 Meg, all with the newest drivers.The motherboards were an Asus P3-Bf, Gigabyte Ga-6VXE7+, and an Abit BX-6, .all with updated bio's. No combo of m/b, video card, and os would work stable for me with Vue. This where it gets weird...I went out and got a Voodoo 3000 video card 24 hours ago, installed it in a clean Gigabyte m/b system and it has not reset once with Vue. I installed photoshop and other programs and Vue is still happy...I can not believe it!!!! I did the same thing with the Asus m/b and Vue is stable there too with the voodoo card. Went back to the Gigabyte m/b and installed Mcaffe a/v...Vue choked...went to the Asus m/b and installed the a/v...Vue choked here too Uninstalled the a/v on both systems and Vue continues to hum along with no problems. Conclusions...Vue did not like the 3 original video cards in any of the motherboards but loves the voodoo 3000. Vue also seems to hate mcaffe a/v. My apologies for turning this into a technical forum...I love the way this program renders and I wanted to get it running stable on my system :-) Thanx to everybody for their support and suggestions on this forum during my "Vue crisis". -Ready to Render with Vue-

Vue seem to have know problem with certain video card especially from ATI....not documented though. Not sure about the rest but I know Matrox and 3D Lab do okay. My Norton A/V is doing well for Vue. Bill

My hardware: PIII 500, Asus P3B-F, 256 MB, ATI All in Wonder 128 AGP 32 MB On Win 98 and Win2K I use ATI's beta drivers 6.33-CD18. On both OS Vue is running without any problems. wolfdd

heyas... so i have a 3d blaster banshee (voodoo chipset) that i hate, and i wanted to get a riva tnt2. will vue like that one? i'd hate to get a good video card and have vue go bonkers on me :/

Hmmmmmmm...then why is Vairesh having all that problem? His explaination and doing is so clear. Has Vue tested on all the various video cards and their drivers on the market? What makes you think you. I do have personal experience with the ATI Rage 128 myself and when I repplace it with an older Matrox Mystique and Millenium G2, and it works just fine without reinstalling the software. This kind of problem is common but rear. I do have encountered such kind of problem with Corel Draw and Paint too, thru their changes of version, both software program itself and Video card drivers. My setup: Asus K7M with built in sound card. 500Mhz AMD CPU, 256mb PC133 Ram, Wintel GeForce DDR 32mb Ram AGP *2/*4 Video Board. I have MacAfee anti Virus and Vue 3.1 Windows 98 running in a LiteStep shell (sortof makes windows looks like x-windows Unix). Vue is stable. It was also stable when I ran the explorer.exe shell.

Vue crashes repeatedly for me. I have a Gateway PC with two ATI Rage Pro chipset cards driving 2 different monitors. Windows 98. Vue 3.02. All my other software (eg. Poser 4, Moray, POV-Ray, Paintshop Pro) is stable. I manage to get some work done in Vue by saving at frequent intervals. The crashes seem to be related to the Terrain objects: moving or resizing mountains = more frequent crashes.

Hi Rhialto, Do upgrade your version 3.0.2 upgraded to Vue 3.1. I am not sure if it has resolve this problem but it should as this 'problem' was identified quite sometime ago. How well it rectify the issue is another :) Bill Tesign

Just a note (since it seems that ATI cards have caused some problems), ATI is known for making really really bad drivers. Even if your system is stable with all your other software, it can still have problems with one particular software (such as Vue). Still, not really Vue's fault. But, also note that updating to the latest ATI drivers can be a step backward rather than forward (I'm speaking from experience here). Hey, their head office and lab is about a 20 minute drive from my house....maybe I should drive up and give them a piece of my mind (usually good cards, but bad bad drivers). -karl
