Subject: I'm confused!!!! daz PC renewal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DreamstoGo ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 11:36 AM · edited Thu, 21 November 2024 at 8:35 PM

I've just read 30 older messages and i still don't know what's going on! :o( my Platinum membership expires on Oct 20th. a year ago I pai d once and that's it. Some people say there's amonthly fee and I see a larger fee?????? What's this going to cost me???? Do i pay an amount of money and a monthly fee too? or Or should i just buy a bunch of stuuf, get 30% off premire stuff and forget about the rest.. sighs........................

melanie ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 11:44 AM

The membership is only good for a year. You have to renew it for another year and yes, it does cost for the new year's membership. Here's my problem: My membership expires today. It's supposed to auto-renew if I do nothing. Well, it didn't. My membership no longer exists. I've e-mailed DAZ about it, but of course, I won't hear until tomorrow, as they aren't open on weekends. DAZ, if you happen to be reading this, please clarify on the "auto-renew" process. I must be confused about how that works. Melanie

shazz501 ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 11:46 AM

you can either pay monthly with payments of $7.95 per month,i'm not sure if people renewing have to pay the $29.95 startup fee if they are renewing from a year subscritpion,or you can pay $69.95 to renew for a year,i hope this helps :)

droyd ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 11:55 AM

Here's a little advice I hope helps. Apparently you can't use your credit card anymore for annual renewals at daz for reasons that have been explained here before (check other forum threads dealing with this subject). If you don't want to deal with a go between like paypal you can do something as simple as mail a money order to daz directly. I contacted them and they have no problems doing it that way. Email sales at Daz and find out who to mail it to and you should be all set.

I just checked my account page at Daz. It clearly says it will auto renew.

melanie ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 12:12 PM

My Platinum Club section on my Account Page is completely gone now. Mine didn't auto renew. sob I've never clicked on the cancel link, so I know it should have renewed today. Melanie

Hey Roy, did you look right below there (the part you cut out)? Does it actually look like my image above? You might want to double-check that. Even if you have a CC associated with it, it may still tell you that it won't be renewed (you can't use a cedit card for annual membership renewal).

Basically, that page has conflicting information on it. Ignore whatever it tells you in the line-item you posted in your image... refer to the "Platinum Club Payment Information" for details/status.

Hmmm. Your right Spanki! It wont let me select a credit card! It says invlid selection if I try to change it. That kind of sucks.

Puntomaus ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 12:54 PM

What if you don't have a CreditCard - there is nowhere a field where you can select PayPal, only different CCs are offered.

It's Visa and MasterCard that no longer allow DAZ to charge yearly renewals - I used Visa before and had to switch it to Amex. HTH; Dan

Evanara ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 12:58 PM

As far as I'm aware (i.e. it would need to be confirmed by DAZ), the auto-renew feature is related to the monthly billing, not the PC membership itself.
You must of course enter the relevant information in the PC Payment part of your account (unfortunate that DAZ didn't really warn about the upgrades to the account page. Personnaly I found out when I bought some stuff and went to my account).

So, if you have been a member for a year (as displayed in the screenshots), what is displayed is the current billing method applied. Annual subscription, as originally offered, were 'converted' to monthly membership automatically (new version of the subscription), with no additional payement made (despite the 'renew' option, the system knows that the whole subscription was payed).

Now that the end of the subscription is reached, you must explicitly renew the subscription (either paying for the whole year in one step or choosing the monthly payments, and this option then activates the 'auto-renew' feature which bills you monthly).

I 'bought' a monthly renewal and the system seems to work (my membership as been extended for one month and I got a load of stuff as bonus).

The way the subscription works isn't clearly explained, though. I deduced most of the above explanation by watching how my own subscription behaved. I might be wrong, so the official explanation should be asked to DAZ.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 1:38 PM

The $29.95 startup is for new members only - existimg members who take the monthly option pay only the $7.95 each month. However, if you can pay with something other than Visa/Mastercard, $69.95 is much less than $95.40, and you get a $30 voucher good for 30-days on non-PC DAZ originals.

I found it very confusing as well. I wanted to renew onthe yearly basis with PayPal and tried and tried to get that as an option and couldn't-- no button to continue on the page and when I pressed change, it went back to the original screen of the credit card. So I Had to do the monthly option and I didn't want to! I really was frustrated. I don't want a mystery charge coming out of my account every month-- especially at the end. And I'm very frustrated. Oh, I renewed, but not as I preferred and now I have to sweat every end of the month for enough to cover Daz plus some other recurring big bills. Emily

Firebirdz ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 2:12 PM

Why can't they accept VISA or Mastercard!??? I can't seem to renew Annual Subscription.

pizazz ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 2:20 PM

THey have posted a bunch that Visa and MC don't like their full money back guarantee. That's why no VISA or MC. I used paypal, but selected my MC instead of out of paypal or a bank account. You can do it that way.

thanks folks. I don't have enough in PayPal :-( I may have no choice but to renew using Monthly. It really sucks for me.

Spanki ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 3:15 PM

Firebirdz, if you have a Visa card attached to your PayPal account, just choose PayPal, and they will use whatever funds you have in there, then apply the rest to your Visa.

Thanks Keith. Unfortunately the VISA isn't attached. I guess I will do that at some stage :-) I just renewed via Monthly and finished downloading all the goodies. Fortunately also, I only bought one of the goodies and the rest were new to me.

XET_Stormy ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 5:43 PM

Mine Visa isn't attached to my paypal account either, and I'd rather not use my 'cash in hand', so... I guess DAZ loses me unless something can be worked out. Shame, though. Stormy

Stormrage ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 5:44 PM

If you are having problems or have questions about the auto renewal process the best idea is to first check the daz forums then email Sales department or call them. They can help you quickly :)

Firebirdz ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 7:35 PM

I posted my query to Daz in their forums yesterday with no response. This mode of asking & finding info still is faster.

XET_Stormy ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 7:39 PM

I did the email (and telephone) thingie, but seeing as it's the weekend, I've gotten no response either. Can't blame them for wanting their weekends, but I still have to wait and, maybe, I'll get a resolution. Maybe. Stormy

melanie ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 8:00 PM

I e-mailed them this morning, but I don't expect a response until at least tomorrow. I suspect they'll be deluged by this topic in their e-mail. I think this week was probably the biggest influx of memberships last year, so a huge bunch of us will be having the same problem. Knowing DAZ and their incredible customer service, they'll get it all straightened out. I think there was probably a miscommunication of information, and a lot of us didn't understand how it works. wrpspeed ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 9:24 PM

the auto renewal feature does not work. i had to renew through pay pal. also used the 800 number to daz and they were very helpful. she set up the order and # for me. i went to my account and got the order number and then went to paypal to send the money to daz .

bknoh ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 9:30 PM

An autorenewal didn't work for me. I tried to renew last weekend and couldn't get the right selection into my cart. Now I am passed my renewal date by 5 days. Looks like it will have to be 99.95 for my renewal. Dang it! Diane

wrpspeed ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 9:35 PM

bknoh, call daz 1st. i was 2 days past due and got the 69.00 renewal.

I had the same problem wih auto renewing!! It did not work so I gave a somewhat nasty email! I'd paid the $29 entry fee agian to take advantage of a sael they were having 2 months back! I got a reply and they extended the membership by 4 months so all worked out well in the end!

Pokeydots, when you renew your PC membership and go for the monthly plan you do not have to pay the $29.95, that was only for new members. From their product page: "Renew your membership under the monthly payment plan for only $7.95 now and then pay $7.95 a month for 11 months starting two months after your current membership expiration date." Maybe you email them and ask what went wrong.

FishNose ( ) posted Mon, 20 October 2003 at 6:10 AM

There's no reason to wait till the last minute before renewing! Renew a week before or something so you can iron out the complications that might arise BEFORE you expire! I renewed a week ago, the new membership extension of 1 yr was added to my old date, so from Oct 20 2003 the expiry date became Oct 20 2004. I did the full $69 thingy via PayPal/Visa, worked perfectly - 58 freebies. $30 voucher, all of it. And I get the $5 vouchers every month. So I'm okay :o) :] Fish

Caly ( ) posted Mon, 20 October 2003 at 8:13 AM

I had this problem. My membership expired on the 15th of October and I had it all set for automatic renewal. It even said automatic renewal next to Platinum club membership.I called Daz to find out what had happened. Well it doesn't automatically renew, it turns out automatic renewal doesn't work with the yearly membership only the monthly. The took my basic information over the phone but had looked my up on their computer and got my cc info that way. Very quick and very painless. Of course the wording should be clearer but the do go out of their way to satisfy. Marge

kristinf ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 8:51 AM

Mine never auto-renewed either and now when I try to buy the annual renewal it says I need a current platinum club membership to have renewal... arghhh!

My PC club was set to expire tonight. I even have a print out of the page that says that it expires at 00:00:00 October 22. Last time I checked, it is 8:14pm CST, and I cannot make any purchases, including the ones that I have in my basket, even though I tried over an hour ago. I sent off an email to Daz asking what's the deal, but have pretty much decided that it is not worth the effort even if they respond. I am pretty sure this is the final straw for me with the PC club. Good idea, bad implementation (e.g., the renewal issues and the overall lack of items for puchasing). The non-brokered discounts are FANTASTIC, especially if you make a lot of purchases, but I have been only averaging one purchase a month (granted there are multiple items in each purchase). Maybe I'll give them some time to stock the bar. - Ray

wrpspeed ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 8:24 PM

the problem is NOT with daz. they could not get the approval through the charge card companys to renew the platinum accounts this way. it is their fault not daz.

pokeydots ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 8:26 PM

I must say you are wrong, try calling the toll free number in the morning, and telling them what happened! I called first thing this morning, and they straightened mine up in about 5 minutes! They are not out to screw anyone, call and find out how quick they will fix a mistake!

I received an email this morning, although I think my client received it last night, letting me know that they reset my PC renewal as a purchase in my account so that I was able to use one of the accepted credit cards. I guess they didn't expect Visa or MC to be like that either. I'm just really glad that something was able to be worked out, and that they were so quick about it. Maybe my faith in the 'System' is restored. ;)

SteveK posted in the Daz forums that there is a problem with the Daz server and time date problem, it effected sales going off sale and not being able to be purchased on the last day. your best bet is to post in the Daz Forum since there are several Daz people there watching etc, email, or better yet if your in the USA use the 800 number can call them person to person. Couple of the posts over there have said that there is a few days after the end of a membership to renew because of all the problems, missed information, and the auto renewal issue with monthly vs yearly confusion. contact them and I'm sure they will happily work it out and take your money.

Chailynne ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 1:19 PM

Thanks to Kristen for creating an order for the renewal. And paypal did work even though it appeared to have some problems with some of the screens. But it did work and even automatically updated to plat club on the Daz site without any intervention from Daz. :)

melanie ( ) posted Fri, 24 October 2003 at 1:49 AM

Kristen set up an order for me, too. I'll bet they were deluged with emails about this problem. I think everyone expected their membership just to auto renew, like I did. Melanie

melanie ( ) posted Fri, 24 October 2003 at 1:52 AM

....however, I was really confused about it. She gave me the instructions for how to do it, with the final step being "proceed to checkout." Well, I couldn't find any way to get to checkout from where I was at. It turned out that it was a button hidden halfway down labeled "charge my card," or something, rather than "checkout." I misread it and thought it said, "change my card," so I didn't know that that was the checkout button. That was frustrated, but it finally worked. Melanie
