Subject: Skintight clothes (2) easy with displacement map

Second test; from left to right in one render: bare figure, with texture, with displacement map, complete. Biggest advantage : you never have a conforming problem with skintight clothing. Try it, it works.

I second the coolness factor! If you can produce that much exaggeration at the ankles and wrists for the edge of the clothes, why not the same amount for wrinkles? Do you think that is possible? I'd also be interested in seeing your displacement map to get an idea of the shading you used to get the different levels.

The map wat is the first post about this. But here once again, reduced. Tony The deepness depends on the grayscale value. White is most and black is no displacement.

This way U can use the P4-Lo figures as clothed background figures. And they don't eat resources. The previous post explains the procedure. happy testing, Tony

You can use stronger bump maps to create helmets or shoulderpads, and it looks great when used with matching color maps.

That is corect stewer but .. A displacement map displaces the geometry and a bump map only gives the visual idea without actually displacing something. A displacement map even makes shadows that enhance the image. Look at the collars or the belt. You get real displacement, not only the illusion of.. even on this P4-Lo figure. It still needs further testing, but gloves, boots, bra's, panties, seem to be good canidates. And no conforming problems, even in extreme poses. See you all, it's bedtime overhere now.(Belgium) Next on the try list is a bra. Get the displacement with a displacement map, and the texture with a bump map. Could be interesting.

Well, ik could work, but Poser misplaces the shadows!!! The shadow and highlight sides are reversed in the rendering.

I've been doing this same thing with bump maps for a while, but displacment maps are better, for sure.

Great! If - like vilters said - this nasty shadow bug wouldn't be, displacement maps could do great things in poser. But for slight displacements it's maybe ignorable. The clothes look very cool!
