I know there are a few of us in here that are considering the purchase of a new digital camera, I thought this would be a perfect place to collect some opinions. If you have more then one digital camera, copy and paste a second time! Thank you for taking the time. :) Are you using a Digital Camera? What brand did you buy? Make and model? Price range? How many mega pixels? What kind of photography do you shoot? Ease of use? Did you read the manual? What does the camera record on? (ie: CD, memory stick, file disk etc.) Is this method cost effective? What kind of battery/batteries does your camera take? Do you consider this Cost effective? Would you consider this camera a good value for your money? Would you recommend this camera to a friend? Is this camera a D-SLR? Pros and Cons? Anything else you would like to add?

When I had to use Exposure Compesition, yes. What does the camera record on? (ie: CD, memory stick, file disk etc.) SD Card, which is a little disk super easy to loose. Is this method cost effective? Yes, only 24 cents to get 4X6 prints at Wal-Mart. What kind of battery/batteries does your camera take? I use rechargeable ones... Do you consider this Cost effective? Yes. Would you consider this camera a good value for your money? Yes, I even bought extra lenses for it. Would you recommend this camera to a friend? If they were interested in a good camera, yes. Is this camera a D-SLR? No. Pros and Cons? (ie: CD, memory stick, file disk etc.) -Compact Flash (including Microdrives) Is this method cost effective? -Yes What kind of battery/batteries does your camera take? -Lithium-Ion rechargable battery packs Do you consider this Cost effective? -Yes; camera comes with one battery pack and recharger Would you consider this camera a good value for your money? -Yes; with what and how much I shoot it has already paid for itself in film and developing costs Would you recommend this camera to a friend? -Yes Is this camera a D-SLR? -Yes Pros and Cons? Anything else you would like to add? -Cons: Lenses are extra. Larger compact flash cards are expensive. Are you using a Digital Camera? Yes

What brand did you buy? FujiFilm

Make and model? 6900z

Price range? I bought it refurbished. I think it was like $400

How many mega pixels? 6.1, I think.

What kind of photography do you shoot? Still learning, so I tend to shoot anything. I lean toward portraits of statues, since the model can hold a pose long enough for me to think through things.

Ease of use? I force myself to use the manual mode, but it's not that difficult. It's almost too easy to use it in automatic mode.

Did you read the manual? Yes. It's got a lot of buttons.

What does the camera record on?
(ie: CD, memory stick, file disk etc.) SmartMedia

Is this method cost effective? Definately. Especially for someone like me who is learning. Doesn't cost me anything to totally mess up a shot, and when I manage to get a winner, I can print it on my Epson 2200 (also a cost effective bit of hardware).

What kind of battery/batteries does your camera take? Some proprietary rechargeable thing. The battery is the 2nd worst part of the camera, since I can't find a spare to buy.

Do you consider this Cost effective? Rechargable is cost effective, but annoying when I forget to charge the camera before I go out to shoot. See above about not being able to find a spare.

Would you consider this camera a good value for your money? Absolutley. It paid for itself within a couple of months.

Would you recommend this camera to a friend? Not this particular model, since it's a bit outdated now, but I've been happy enough with it that I wouldn't steer anyone away from Fuji.

Is this camera a D-SLR? I believe so.

Pros and Cons? Anything else you would like to add? The major con is that it has a digital view-finder. Digital is fine for the preview screen, but it's hard to focus using the digital view-finder. I'd much prefer if it was a traditional one. The pro is that with an optional adapter, you can attach lenses and filters to it. I've only played with the telephoto lens, and a couple of filters, but I've been happy with it. The only downside to the attachment is that because of the threads on the lens, I can't use the lens and the filter at the same time.

Are you using a Digital Camera? Yes What brand did you buy? Sony Make and model? FD100 Price range? Back then I paid $400, $200 now if you can find it. How many mega pixels? 1.2 What kind of photography do you shoot? Nature, Scenic Ease of use? Very easy to use Did you read the manual? Parts and pieces What does the camera record on? File Disk or Memory stick (ie: CD, memory stick, file disk etc.) Is this method cost effective? File disks are What kind of battery/batteries does your camera take? Rechargeable battery pack came with charger Do you consider this Cost effective? I would say so have shot literally thousands of pictures in the period of 2.5 years and the battery still has life! :) Would you consider this camera a good value for your money? A most excellent value for the money, even though this cam is only 1.2 mega pixel, the quality of the shots are excellent, have blown up to 8 x 10 with no pixelation, good for documenting things or general use! Love this camera, won't stop shooting with it until it dies! Would you recommend this camera to a friend? Most definately! You get a good image and a very small file size. Would not be a bad camera for someone who isn't serious about being a professional. Is this camera a D-SLR? No Pros and Cons? Anything else you would like to add? Cons: largest picture size on this cam is 1280 x 960, only 72 dpi. Pros: An excellent camera, even an idiot can operate this thing! Has really taken a beating over the years and she is still ticking, very durable. Can adjust some settings manually. Definately got more bang for my buch then I ever imagined I would with it!

Are you using a Digital Camera? Yes Mam, I am. What brand did you buy? I bought Kodak DX 6340 and I had a problem with it and had wrote to Kodak.......... in replacement I got Kodak Dx 6440...... sounds crazy?? I think so too, I think there sure was some confusion and I loved it.:O)) Make and model? KODAK DX 6440 Price range? I bought the camera and the Memory stick and the batteries, rechargeable (Sanyo) It cost me Rupees 25000 and if you convert it , its like 555$ How many mega pixels? 4 mega pix What kind of photography do you shoot? I love Macro very much but fantasise about doing landscapes and light study etc., Ease of use? Too Easy as of now as I have not tried most of the things that I see here at renderosity., namely, night shoots using apperture and shutter speed adjustment etc., Did you read the manual? What manual?? Where is it?? No, I din't read it nor do I plan to, I want to spend my time learning as I use my cam and ofcourse, chatting with wonderful friends like yourself.;) What does the camera record on? (ie: CD, memory stick, file disk etc.) Internal Memory..... 16mb and there is provision for memory stick......... currently I am using 128 mb stick. Is this method cost effective? Undoubtedly. What kind of battery/batteries does your camera take? Tricky question...... CRV3 lithium battery, non-rechargeable, is included with the camera. Once it's over, you are on your own. The batts are damn too costly so you would have to compromise for a NiMH Rechargeable Batteries and I have tried both, Sony and Sanyo batteries for this........no good. I plan on getting a Lithium batts for the cam , are supposed to last longer than the NiMH. Do you consider this Cost effective? I think I answered above, dig cams are cost effective, if you mean the battery mode. hmmmmmmm...... well rechargeable batts even though not lasting long enough are a cheap option, no doubt. Would you consider this camera a good value for your money? I definitely would but then I have not tried any other dig cam so honestly I wouldnt know but if you mean am I happy with it...... Yes, to a great extent I am. Would you recommend this camera to a friend? I definitely would. Considering the ease with which it can be used. Is this camera a D-SLR? I think not. Pros and Cons? Anything else you would like to add? God Nilla, did you have to put this question?? You knew very well, this ques is not for me. Who gona stop me when I go on and on and on........ Pros...... easy to use. no botheration about buying films and then waiting for the roll to finish and then get it washed and printed only to realise that the light was either toooooooooo much or tooooooooooooo less and the whole pic got scewed up. I love the fact that you can use this cam, get a fair idea about what the result is gona be and if need be take another shot with a better perspective or light. I love the macro view of this cam very much. I love the LCD view, helps me a lot. Cons.......... These cams are a drain on the batteries. The flash , the..... lcd everything consumes too much of batt , hence I dislike this time and again pulling out and putting in of batteries. I wish it had a inbuilt battery which could be pluged in and charged. This cam claims a 15 x zoom Powerful 4X optical zoom (33-132 mm equivalent) from the leader in lens optics technology 3.8X Advanced Digital Zoom Stunning clarity for small and large prints KODAK Color Science inside for consistently vivid color edge to edge Multi-zone auto focus delivers incredible sharpness, no matter where your ........ this is what the manual says............. but trust me, it's all crap.......... the zoom is nothing but a tool to pixalate the image. I shall post some of the zooms of this cam and you would know what I mean.

Are you using a Digital Camera? For almost a year now. What brand did you buy? Canon Make and model? Canon G2 (black body) Price range? $432 How many mega pixels? 4.1 What kind of photography do you shoot? Landscape, family snapshots, action Ease of use? quite easy, Manual mode is good too. Did you read the manual? Several times. I'm a slow learner What does the camera record on? Compact Flash Is this method cost effective? OH YES! What kind of battery/batteries does your camera take? propriatary Li Ion. Lasts about 250 full res. images or about 2 weeks. Do you consider this Cost effective? sure beats the AA Alkalines! Would you consider this camera a good value for your money? Yes, it has been replaced by the G5 now, but real good for half the cost. Would you recommend this camera to a friend? Yes Is this camera a D-SLR? no Pros and Cons? Anything else you would like to add? Autofocus is kinda slow. Focus presets compensate for that on action shots.

Are you using a Digital Camera? Yep m'am :-) What brand did you buy? Canon Make and model? 300D Price range? 1000 Euro (1100 with Kit-Lens) How many mega pixels? 6.3 What kind of photography do you shoot? Anything thats not on the trees by three ;-) Ease of use? Reading the manual twice is inevitable Did you read the manual? Yep, four times till now ... but keep in mind, that this one has been my first SLR .. so i do have a lot to learn. What does the camera record on? Compact Flash and Micro-Drive .. didn't try the last one ... Is this method cost effective? I think so .. (?) What kind of battery/batteries does your camera take? Li-Ion. 400 shots if it's not to cold. In bad weather (as we had these days ... ) a battery grip with two of em will easily last 200 shots (without flash) which i think is really good for -5C. Do you consider this Cost effective? Yep .. Because of using the LCD a lot less then non-SLR digi-cams, the 300D will last a lot longer with the same amount of battery-power. Using IS-lenses reduces that advantage somewhat. Would you consider this camera a good value for your money? You have to pay more to get more .. so (to me) this is right what i wanted to get. Would you recommend this camera to a friend? That depends on what that friend is trying to get. For some people a Sony F828 or Minolta A1 fits better, other can be happy with an Ixus so i don't think a "yes" can be the answer to that question. To a friend, trying to shoot what i shoot and being able and willing to spend "some" money, i'd recommend her .. of course. But you know that already Brenda :-) Is this camera a D-SLR? Yep Pros and Cons? Anything else you would like to add? I'd like to add one thing: keep in mind, that on a D-SLR (as on any SLR) the real money goes to the lenses. The cam itself is just the beginning ... And: if one wants to buy her, he or she should take a careful look on the 10D too. The 300D can't do some things the 10D can and one has to decide, if that's worth another 500 Euros.
