Papa, I have been trying to recreate your Don haircut on M3 without much luck. Are you using one of the maps posted here, or something else?

What a great thread. So cool to see folks using the stuff that makes P5 worthwhile. M

You can use the maps from message # 28 plug the displacement maps into the material and set the value of the displacement to minimum, you have to play a little bit becasue not all models need the same settings.. I think 05.00000 or 04.00000 will ok, change the diffuse color and Alternate diffuse to the right color of wish... how bigger the redners so fine and better the fur-hair effect. mickmca : it is for sure.. Poser5 have so much nice things that Poser4 never will allow you to do no matter what you do, I discovered that in some case the firelfy rendering make my work much faster as regular poser4 and is much more fun to play with on weekend ;))..

Karen, I used the displacement map in #28 with a setting of 0.3. Also be sure to setting the displacement ambience to something other than white or it will look odd.

sure wolf359 , I made buble on the skin but the rendering was little to slow, you can put a movie with talking head on the square and put it front of the doors, what a fine effect for horrors.. but first you need t prepare the movie.. make it little blur without noise other will a chaos..

I did some tests with AVI files used as displacement maps. It can give some nice effects. Of course it can take a lot of time since you have to first create the animation for the disp map, and then render the final animation using it to see the results (though you can render a few frames to get the idea first). It would be a good way to make throbbing veins in somebody's forhead, or that sci-fi effect of a creature crawling under the skin.

sci-fi effect of a creature crawling under the skin. that what I told you, the bubles was something as this.. you can use this for example to make effect as in the where the ghost move slowlly behind the painting or wall.. it is very cool option, self make simulation of grow slowlly fur.. or hair :) self the water effect.. just everything you imagine

someone could make alot of money on atmostpheres and hair mat settings....

Mec4D ( ) posted Mon, 02 February 2004 at 6:45 AM

if you can use the same settings for all models then well but that is not the case and every model is sensitive and need own surface settings including the light etc.. so simple is this not at all.. but can well included with own products that will works for sure.
