HENRY, TERESA COMPERE who graduate from Webb School, and attended U.T. and Merrimac College, had boundless enthusiasm for a wide range of eclectic topics. Teresa was very devoted to her husband: John James Henry Jr, and to her children: Maria Alyxandra, Laura Amanda, and Rebecca Elizabeth. She was an Air Force ROTC cadet at UT. While attending Merrimac she was on the Student Board of Governors for the Massachusetts public Interest Research Group. She was one of the first females in the 70s to join the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. A member of the clamshell alliance, She is most proud of a photograph published in the New Hampshire Union Leader with her picture under the heading Sodomites Invade Seabrook She is also fond of scheduling American Indian Movement members to speak at Webb Civics class and the chairman of the Communist Workers Party to the Young Republicans. Personal computers were a major interest in her life, starting around 1974, when she joined an explorer Scout Troop focused on early computers. This grew into a lifelong passion which Teresa enjoyed sharing with a wide range of friends and Computer King customers. Her enthusiasm led her to become Vice President of Vender Relations for the East Tennessee Computer Society and to write an educational Column for its newsletter. The critically acclaimed column won first place in educational writing from the National Association of Computer Users. She particularly enjoyed assisting both schools and The Florence Crittenton Agency with software. For 18 years she was the very successful Public Relations Chairperson for the Pellissippi Beautification Committee. At the time of her death she was reading Patricia Cornwalls Blowfly Gryzmeks Ethology of Lower Vertebrates, and Georgette Heyers the Corinthian. She is survived by her husband; children; mother: Maria Compere; sisters: Alicia & Suzy; parents-in-law: Jim & Audrey Henry. Family and friends will meet at Edgewood Cemetery 11:15 A.M. Oh my! I am so sorry to hear this. I didn't even know she was ill. Lovely obit ... is that the one you are going to publish?? I love the part about the Sodomites, I think I would have really liked your wife a lot.

Could be worse, could be raining.

My deepest and sincere sympathies for your loss, my prayers to you and your family. Please, you know we are all here for you if you need someone to talk to, I can't imagine how awful this is for you, sending a little magic your way...in this darkest of times remember to celebrate her life. This poem has always helped me in a time of loss: Don't stand by my grave and weep For I'm not there, I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glint on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn's rain. I'M NOT HERE When you awaken in morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circle flight I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die

electroglyph, One of my best friends in college was named John Henry. I also think it is one of the names John Wayne was called in one or more of his movies. All that aside, this is a sad day for you - I can not hope to express the huge sadness that you must be feeling now. I can not express nor even hope to know what you must be feeling at this point but I grieve with you. I don't know that that will make you feel any better, but my condolences are genuine for what that is worth. I can only hope that your pain abides over time. sincerely, - TJ

Be well and I send you hugs to keep you strong. Catlin

I dont know what I expected when I posted this message. Certainly nothing like the generous outpouring I received. To those of you who responded in this forum and in private, my heartfelt thanks. I considered an answer for several days. The details I thought to post on this forum would have been very hurtful, and I am glad now they never reached this page. I was half-mad for a couple of days (some of you would say Only that long? Youve been crazy since you started posting in this forum.). Suffice to say, I have lots of family around. Lots of family here as well as it turns out. I thank you all again. I may have to miss a week or two at a time. Death is more like a slow avalanche. There are a hundred details like doctor bills, property, and who made coffee in the mornings, which careen down after the fact, demanding immediate attention. I will check in and eventually be back.

Quest ( ) posted Thu, 18 March 2004 at 3:21 PM

Electroglyph, you take as long as you need to get your life in order, you need not concern yourself with us, you have enough to worry about. We know that you are going through a hard time, so if at anytime you need to talk, just give us a shout. You and your family are in our thoughts. Hold strong my friend and peace be with you.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Fri, 19 March 2004 at 12:19 PM

I agree with Quest, take as long as you need and you know we'll all still be here for you when you feel up to coming back. My very best wishes to you John through this difficult time. Catlin
