Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 03 12:46 am)
I've had a quick look at Judy and Don, and they just don't seem to bend as naturally as the daz figures. To me they don't look as real. Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. ย Oh, and it's free!
My P5JudyMagic in the marketplace includes 183 custom head morphs, along with all the 189 original Judy and Bonus Judy morphs. There are 8 character faces, 12 morphs that automatically reposition and/or resize the eyes, dials for "eyesSideSide" and "eyesUpDown", epicanthal eyefolds, teeth morphs, etc. The morphs are organized both in groups and alphabetical list, and there's a big user guide. HTH - Elisa/gryffnn
Hmmmm. For all the abuse poor Judy gets, I like her. Sometimes her expression isn't the easiest to work with, but thinking that some of the girls I dated years ago were not especially pretty of face, but still beautiful of person. Agree with Yamato's characters, AnAn, CanCan, RanRan, just beautiful, although in this world, there are other people besides orientals, and sometimes coming up with or finding other characters for Posette that fit the mental pictures can be difficult. Such is life.
That's why having dozens and dozens of morphs from different makers will help. Do you remember Traveler's original Morph World... where there must have been 300 breast morphs for Posette? Lots of characters of all sorts came about becuase the original model was very basic and very adaptable... once the morphs were made. If you got the Costume Shop CD you got a male and female with a few more face morphs (11?), but it was still really simple. This family doesn't have nearly enough morphs. We will also need morphs to do major body sculpting. If getting clothes to fit becomes easier with Tailor and Clothes Converter and such, then body-sculpting will lead to a lot more unique people in our art. Whether portrait or establishing shot we can avoid the stereotyped and all-too-recognizable Vicki, and still have someone interesting and attractive in the picture. Carolly
We will also need morphs to do major body sculpting If there appears to be an interest in the face morphs from everyone, and if Judy is used more in the galleries, it may inspire morph makers to tackle the body (which is a lot more intensive work). But arms could be twisted if the demand is there. 8-)
Actually, seeing as we are on the topic ... I think Judy and the other Poser 5 figures have potential. That was part of my incentive for putting the morph packs out (and I do agree that in combination with the other morph sets available for Judy, that a WIDE variety of faces can be achieved now). What else do the Poser 5 characters need? Would textures or clothing increase their popularity, or would the body morphs be more important? It's a good topic to discuss.
I would like to see more Body and chest morphs to make the Judy's figure more adaptable and poses. Also a variety of Textures covering various skin tones.arrow1

Hmmm.... More and more people are using P5...I would say that dynamic cloth props would be a big boon (There isn't a hooded cape, for instance. How many would kill for a cowled cape that actually blew in the wind, instead of having to tweak conformers and sections?). The body morphs would be a close second...or maybe in tandem with the clothes. Don needs some face morphs, and body morphs as well...that would give a third male figure for use.
I really have to get that Judy and Don bodymorph set done.... Dale - go to www.philc.net for a cape and some tutorials Poser 5 figures can take the same textures and poses as the mellenium 1/2 figures as their jointing and mapping are the same (essentially) M/V clothing more or less works if you can morph it to fit. I've had good luck with the Clothing COnvertor program and then Tailor to fit the results onto my Judy/Don bodymorphs. Planit3d has a slew of dynamic clothing props, many of which can be shoehorned onto many different figures. Yamato? I think? made a NewJudy, which has a substantially more appealing body and face, drawback is that no conforming clothing fits her yet.
I will argue for Don next. Most users like portraying females, but there is a strong need for interesting male faces: pirates, explorers, mad scientists, vikings, indians, etc., are all genres where we could make use of the established interest and provide alternatives and augmentation. For example, if you were doing "the shootout at the ok corral", or whatever with multiple figures, would you want all the guys to look like Mike? If we could extend the genres, even better. Transpond has those wonderful Cambodian and Mayan sets over at RDNA. A nice handsome-by-their-own-standards Mayan chieftain is needed. If we can get the characters, I think it will be easier to get the clothing and textures. I would have argued for the kids next, since they make nice imps and fairies, but the cute factor in this Forum is going to rise enough already with all the young-looking models coming out, and I don't want to die of sugar-poisoning before my time. I might not kill for that cowled cloak and mysterious stranger... but I'll tackle a modeler in the street and twist his non-mouse arm. ;^) Carolly
Once I get the clothing converted to fit Default Judy via convertor and the POser5 setup room, then I use Tailor to fit it to all 30 something of the bodymorphs I've made. There are some mesh problems, but its better than nothing. Unfortunately my time is being sucked up by PW right now grin but I should be able to get back to the set in a few weeks.

an example of some of the morphs in action... at this point I very well may release the dratted thing as a freebie. I can't get the breast morphs smooth enough for the testers here. Nevermind the fact that I didn't even make the morphs in question!OK, so there are some morphs made by you and some by other people and some which come with Judy. Fine, but I still don't understand why you do a 2-step process to fit the clothing. Why not convert directly to each morphed body? Is converting that much more arduous that you would rather only do it once in a lifetime? (Or at least the lifetime of the figure?) I would think that converting to fay, trollish, rubenesque, etc., each by each would make for a better fit. Carolly
Carolly - yes but..... the conversion process Fit to figure in Clothes Convertor (10 min to sveral hours, depending) Open in Poser5, use setup room to copy Judy's bones and joint parameters. Save cr2. Load judy, load clothing item, spend several days adjusting joints and grouping of clothing item until it fits Judy. Save new default Judy shaped clothing item. Now my moprhs sets for Judy are 30 full and partial morphs for character body shaping. Sure I could do a separate conversion for the Obese and Starving morphs, but that leaves the various THinArms, THinLegs, ThinWaist, ThickWaist out in the cold. In short, converting the thing to fit a figure is a PITA, and the structure of my morphs makes nontailored conversions a non useful option. For other figures I would consider doing several conversions if I wanted to fit the clothing to say V3's Muscular3 which is hard to Tailor for.
Griffnn, Jade is a pretty face... nice oriental shape to the eyes, good job! It looks like a lot of V2 textures will fit. (I'd only tried one and it had a touch of seam showing at the neck... but should try it on V2 as well!) Dale, PhilC's cape is nice, and even has a riding morph. :) Lyrra, So, the Converter will work between Vicki and Judy and probably Natalia, but getting Yamato's P4 kimono on one of the 2 Chinese dragons would be a major PITA? Right now I need to get some clothes on Judy. I can't believe that there isn't a regular full-length skirt for her. :shake head: Carolly
Thanks Carolly; epicanthal folds and a roman nose are usually the first head morphs I make for a new figure (Marco Polo's love child?). I've run into the neck seam thing occasionally with firefly - usually can fix by adding a bit of grey to the head's object color or fiddling with the ambient, but seems like someone once posted an explanation for the cause. I haven't done clothing morphs, but wasn't there a tecnique of scaling/positioning a clothing item large enough so there are no intersections with the morphed figure, then letting P5 drape it to get a spawnable morph? (Um, too much Monday morning almost-remembering; now where did I put that biscotti?)
Gryffyn, The technique you describe (making clothing large enough to cover the figure and then using the cloth room) works pretty well. The only problem is if you use it to drape conforming clothing, the folds sometimes lose their "natural" appearance when posing them. However, in the case of strictly making clothing for Poser 5 that technique would work very well, I would think. If overscaled they won't be skin tight, though ... it's too bad there isn't a feature that will "shrink wrap" for tightness where needed!
I read someplace a technique for using the poser5 cloth room to cling-fit clothing. it involves using the timeline and scaling the figure during the fitting process. Durened if I know where though. beware using conforming clothing objects, many of them break the NoNo rules for the P5 cloth room (self intersections, doublesided) Allegedly the new SR fixes some of that but .... I haven't tested it yet (being a lil too busy texturing right now you see) Hauk Okay ..now you're just being silly :) Yes, putting clothing made for a humanoid onto a dragon would be difficult.

I was wondering if there is much available by way of textures, morphs etc for the Poser 5 characters especially the Judy figure? There doesn't seem to be "much ado" about P5 characters as with the V3 and M3! arrow1
