Wondering if there are any resouces out there for a dirt floor that is somewhat uneven. Quick render to show what I mean. If I use the same stone as the walls you can see that there are certain repeating stones, and if the same stone in the floor is close to the one in the wall it won't work. Thanks, Marque

Mind you I won't be using this lighting. If you look straight through you can see the same odd-shaped stone repeated on the floor and wall. This is an excellent set, not saying there is a problem with the product, I am very pleased with it. Just need to find some dirt for the floors. Using it in Poser 4 not 5, would rather be able to do it in 4 if I can. Thanks, Marque

If you have Photoshop, load your stone texture, then create a new layer over it. Set your foreground color to white, your background color to black and go Filter: Render: Clouds. Then change that layer to multiply or overlay and reduce the opacity down. This will give an uneven, streaked dirtiness to the layer below. Save this as a new texture. Now your floor stone will look different from your wall texture, and it will be dirtier. You can also try using white and brown for your colors for a more earth-dirt effect. I'm sure PSP would have something similar, but I'm a novice at PSP. Hope this helps, Cres

Oh and postwork is out, it's for an animation and I don't want to make that much extra work on this. Thanks, Marque

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 17 May 2004 at 11:31 AM

Cres! Thanks will give that a go! Marque

If you've got metaforms you could use that for dirt. And also if you have Poser 5 (sorry I can't remember if you do) you could use a modified version of Ajax' slime shader

I have Poser5 but don't really want to use it for this project. Actually I'm changing some of the stones and naming those differently. Just a quickie to show what I did as a test, the stone still needs work but I think if I just do a ton of different floors and walls and use those I will have a lot of variety to work with. Thanks Cres for the kick to the brain, and thanks to you too ernyoka, gave up on metaforms. Marque

I meant thanks for the tip ernyoka, not that you made me give up on metaforms....lol Marque

Although a lot of the shots will be like this one, (quick render, not finished by a long shot), there will be some that show more light and that's what I was worried about. I think the kick to use photoshop was what was needed. Will have to scrounge some dirt also...lol Thanks, Marque

you might also try applying dirt using a transmapped single sided square, like a blanket, over the stones. At least you won't have repeating dirt and since you're doing an animation, it will be consistent from frame to frame AND you won't have to postwork each frame.

Yeah that is a good idea, PabloS. Perhaps even something like my super morphing sheet? then you could make it "bulge" a little?

Just a quickie. Will be using the floors but this dirt idea with the sheet was a great one. Thanks, Marque

marque, It's probably a bit late now, since you seem to have it sorted out, but I'll throw it in for future reference. I have a medieval chamber (at DAZ) with an 'uneven' flagstone floor (you can see a pic at the link). I deliberately made the flagstones and walls rough and uneven and mapped the flagstones randomly, so that each stone picks up a different part of the texture. Seems like it would do what you're after. Oh, and there's a wall-sconce prop with genuine rust texture included for your flaming brand. LOL. mac

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 17 May 2004 at 3:47 PM

I'll check it out. Left the rust texture off in those shots, wasn't working on that one, but it would be nice to have one to start with. Thanks, Marque

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 17 May 2004 at 3:53 PM

Actually I need it to match these walls more, but that is a nice chamber. Marque

Marque, what/who's prop is this? It's a rather interesting little dungeon entryway. Lhiannan :)

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 17 May 2004 at 9:19 PM

JesterCGI did it, it's here at the store. I think it's been around for a while. Do a search for dungeon or maze. Marque

Thanks. Don't know how I missed it. :)

http://www.runtimedna.com/catalog.ez?TopID=24695&Form.sess_id=1152223&Form.sess_key=1084926689 RDNA microsom has a floring that you can use and adjust the poly count helps in animation Its easy to sue, cheap and creates some great natural florings..

Cool, didn't think of that, I own that product. Thanks for the heads-up on it. Marque

HyS Temple by Awful Soul (free) comes with a dirt/stone floor. It's sloped, but you can angle it to level.

Yet another great idea, sometimes you forget all the cool stuff out there until someone points it out. Thanks! Marque
