Ok, I am doing texturing of Mechs like some of you have seen. I do em ok, and I am able to import 3DS, then export to Obj, then make texture files from UVmapping, then check it all in Poser......No problem. But, now..this mech was made in 3DS. Was told, legs, torso, arms move. Although in Poser, all I see is for height, location dials. Nothing else. I noticed this with all the 3DS files (mech) that I imported into Poser they only have dials for location, and rotate. What happened from 3DS to poser, when these parts are suppose to be moveable? Do I have to do this in Poser? I have Poser 5 with the SR4 patch installed. Oh..the Mech in the Pic (Texture), I did the texturing by hand in PS7, took a month a half. Still need work (Fixing) on the texturing.

Poser can`t import 3ds animation data so you do have to make the object work in poser, you can use the setup room and I would use bones from a figure that is already there and just delete any that are not needed ie the eye bones. CuriousLabs.com has a tutorial for using the setup room.

Also search this forum for a tutorial by Dr Geep about Poserizing a figure. I used that for the Powerloader and it worked well.
