THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: a different WIP really messed this one up.

These meteorites are horrible. Does anyone know how I can do them better. Currently they are a trail of metaballs with clays fire, and another trail of metaballs with a smoke texture. The two trails don't blend together like I thought they would.

I know her dress is to busy, I'm going to try a different texture on it.

And why can't I crack the dome? Wait, TIR might fix that.
The blast sphere's got messed up when I was cracking the glass dome. That's an easy fix.

Any help?

Oh, yeah. Stopped the render somewhere around her neckline.

Attached Link: Maybe my Cataclysm image technique would help?

Aye, I spent several days refining meteorites awhile back. Check out this image, tell me if you like them and I could send you the scene file or just make you a mini-tutorial or something...

what i would suggest with a scene like this is a layered render. make the backdrop first, and then add the smoke trails in photoshop (Ages easier than doing them with presets, plus metaballs are nasty little things to figure out). then render the front part. your render's also gonna be heaps faster :)

i would also recommend a layered approach, though i would render the background and stick it on a picture plane with high ambience behind dome, i think you want the world beyond the dome darker than the foreground, it all seems a bit bright, which makes the characters seemed 'stuck-on'., you could crack the dome with a bump map, or using the rocks as negative boolys. just a few suggestions, hope it goes well.

Experience is no substitute for blind faith.

You know? I think this is pretty damn good. I'd do a full high-rez render just to see that dress. I think it's gonna come out ok....! As for cracks in the glass....you might be able to do something in the T.E. or overlay a streak of lightning on the domes.

The dress and the texture are from DAZ's Platinum Club. Where did her shadow go? :(

Fabulous dress! You have GOT to keep that. It's really alien culture stuff...

Judging by the shadow of her hand on her sleeve, I think her shadow is directly behind her so it can't be seen, Xenic.

tjohn - doh! sun + one light sitting at the camera. 8/ The horrific glare on the glass is from the light, gotta remember to fix that. Keeping the dress, think I've got the cracked glass figured out. Can't texture a meta ball like I want, might go back to the cones I used before.

I'm afraid this looks like a step backwards from the scene you first posted. I'd have a serious look at GroinGrinder's work @ p7.
I don't think you actually need to show the rocks themselves, the fire trail/comet-tail would be better at these distances. 0.02p
