Subject: Pay Pal and DAZ?

Dumb question! How long does it take for the Pay Pal payment to reach DAZ?

ARRRGGGHHHHH........... If you make a mistake initially when sending the order, IE.,I needed to use a credit/Debit card and the e-mail DAZ sends confirming the order tells you of a problem, Then you go to the PAY PAL site to make the payment. Does this change the receipt time for DAZ.... Sorry...never made any purchases with the "NEW" card....

Don't feel too bad or alone...I'm still waiting after over a year and a half for the delivery of two copies of the magazine Renderosity put out. I paid through PayPal, they debited my bank account and got their money, Rosity says they never got paid so it aint their problem, PayPal says they paid Rosity so it aint their problem, and I'm out the money. I haven't, and won't, use PayPal ever again. I'm setting up a seperate checking account that comes with a debit card for online purchases... And, even to this day, when I email both parties, the result is the same: aint their problem.

I think more people should read this website...might make you think twice before using PayPal.... www.paypalsucks.com ....read this article about PayPal fining users effective Sept 24th...betcha you'll SERIOUSLY think twice about using their service...here's a snippit from that article..... "SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - PayPal, the online payments arm of eBay Inc. (EBAY.O: Quote, Profile, Research) , on Friday said it will soon fine people up to $500 for uses related to gambling, ADULT CONTENT OR SERVICES, and buying or selling prescription drugs from noncertified sellers." I've known a few people who had their accounts "frozen" (with money in it) for a few months because they supposedly went against the TOS...

I have never had a problem with "Pay-Pal" but I don't want to sound like I am saying...that it doesn't happen. For now, concerning this post....I went to daz, Chose payment as "Pay-Pal" and spent my $5.00 coupon/gift certificate (whatever they want to call it) and since I didn't go over the $5.00's.......I didn't get charged anything. (: I got my download just fine....so.....I think the problems right now at Daz is just paying with a "credit card"....even though mind is more a debit card then credit? There are a few more things on my "wish-list" so if I have time today....I will also try it out....this time......actually paying with "Pay-Pal" because I don't have anymore coupons. LOL!

If you follow PayPal's TOS you will have no problems. Jus tfollow the terms that they set forth. It is all on the up and up, if not then I am positive that they would be shut down.

Well I got the e-mail from PAY-PAL, states that it been sent to DAZ...DAZ has notice in the upper left/hand corner of my accounts page saying that they are having problems with credit cards..try using PAY-PAL!!!!

Soooo.... From my account page at DAZ... Click on view my orders...Get details....AT THE TOP IN BOLD LETTERS. This order is waiting on your Pay Pal payment click here to pay!!!! But we've all ready done that.

Cody.....Have you been "verified" at Paypal?" I did this, some time ago so maybe things have changed since then, but I had to send them all my information for them to "validate" it and then I became a "verified" user. This process took a few days. If you just signed up.......this could be your problem?

YEAH.... I got all the mails from them also...Activated...logged on etc...If this is the case "Why did it state you dont' have to join to use them"? Soooo...I probably wont' get Vicki 3 till middle of next week???? Ahhh maaannnn.....

Sorry to burst your bubble, Cody.....but processes like that are in force to protect you as well as everyone else who uses "PayPal". Personally, I love it, as I have purchased a number of things on-line using it....Not just stuff for Poser, but stuff for my house, my car, etc. etc. Like I said before...I have never had a problem and the convienience is great. (: (I know I spelled that wrong >LOL!)

Naw... thats o-kay....Just the fact that I was'nt prepared for the "delay" between them and DAZ.... I went thru this before online(Online credit card purchases)....Once bitten' twice shy! Just wasnt' sure why it didnt' show up right away at DAZ... Thanks for your help "genny"...at least I get it now.

odeathoflife ...read about the class action lawsuit against PayPal on the web site I gave...could be they will be shut down when it works its way through the court system...maybe they have always seemed to be on the "up and up" with you, but I know a couple of people, who as I stated, had their PayPal accounts frozen...you know, as in they couldn't access their OWN money that they had in the PayPal account, for like 3 or 4 months until it went through "the process" with PayPal...phone calls only got them the run around, nothing resolved until the freeze period elapsed...hmmmmm, wonder what PayPal did with the interest they earned on that money during that time period....and for all the people they have done this to...bet they make a bundle on interest on other people's money ;P oh well, use at your own risk, especially if there are any items of a possible mature nature...not like I haven't given the web abby and the info needed...forewarned is fore armed they say shrug

Not only that, if you are a vendor and for any reason have a chargeback (your fault or not), PayPal charges you an additional $10.

Well, blonderella.....I wish my problems was simply that PayPal took my money, and got interest on it, and froze my account! I have to think that, IF PayPal had that much control on my account....then, Yes..it would be a problem! BUT.......why do you think they do? When I decide to make a purchase using PayPal, I have to log on and hit the "Send" button. They don't do that, nor do they have any control over who I pay or not? You really have me confused as to why you think what you do, so I thought I would ask.......WHY? Is this just "hear-say?"

genny...reitering one more time...go to the website I posted above... www.paypalsucks.com ...there are many, many stories on that site that should scare the pants off you...there is also information about the class action suit against PayPal, and many other links...also, I personally know a couple of people who had their accounts frozen...and PayPal didn't even give them a specific reason! my friends have no idea what they did to warrant that action...and many, many phonecalls produced NO results or answers...just the run around from PayPal, until several months passed and the "freeze" period expired...they had heard these things from other people too, but never thought it would happen to them...until it DID! you can make up your own mind...read the website...or dont...I'm just trying to give you people the information to make an educated decision.... the following paragraph about limiting your PayPal account access is from PayPal's OWN website, here is the addy if you want to read it in its entirety... http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_closing-outside ..."If the investigation is not in your favor, PayPal may return funds to the sender and restore access to the remainder of your account, continue to limit your account access for up to 180 days as is necessary to protect PayPal against the risk of reversals"... 180 days, that is 6 months that they can hold onto your money...so, you see I'm not just making this up...but that's all I'll say on the subject now...do what you want, it's your money...I know what I do with mine, and it sure isn't through PayPal...

Paypal just settled on a very big class action suit due to their poor handling of people's accounts. It cost them several million dollars. Most people haven't had a problem with them, but thousands of people definitely HAVE. bonni

I haven't had any problems with PayPal using my checking account, but I would never set up an account where they had control over the funds. I think like a lot of companies, they got big, got greedy, etc. I'd say use with caution. Besides, if you can't buy "adult products" with it, what good is it anyway? :-)

I have never had any problem using paypal with any of the people I have bought things from. They have always been very reliable for me. Only thing I dont like is the 3 day wait for adding funds to my account, but Oh well. Other then that, I am extremely pleased using paypal.

It's only been recently that I've had a delay in DAZ processing my order through PayPal. I have used my PayPal account nearly exclusively when paying for DAZ products and it's only been my recent orders stating DAZ is waiting on payment. The first time it happened I emailed sales with my receipt from PayPal and got the problem fixed the next day. The next time it happened I just waited until the following day and my order was filled. I've never had a problem like this before and it can be frustrating waiting to download an order you've paid for. I even posted my question in the forum but it was never answered except with the usual "email DAZ". I've no such problem with using PayPal anywhere else I purchase products from so I don't believe it's PayPal's fault and I've been using them for 2 years with never a problem with my account.

okey dokey...concensus seems to lean towards that there is NO problem with PayPal...riiiiiiiight...that's why in the Class Action Suit settlement, they were ordered to pay back over 5 million...yeah, million....dollars in customer's money that they were "holding", from frozen accounts...seems that once the 180 days that they froze your account had expired, if you didn't SPECIFICALLY send them a request for your money to be released to you, they simply kept it ;P

um, I'm not known as a fan of paypal, but need to correct something. PayPal was not ordered to pay back money. Settlements are not judgements. Under the terms of the settlement, paypal agreed to do so under the provision that it be known they did nothing wrong. Accepting the payment from them means, specifically, that you agree with that. The amount agreed on is further reduced by the fees of the atty's involved -- roughly 22% of the total. Paypal is not governed outside of California by any money handling laws. They do not have governmental oversight. They are also the largest organization handling such money exchanges, and paypalsucks.com is maintained by folks who have an active interest in seeing it fail -- not exactly, um, netural in the issue. IF you want to do business online, you generally need to deal with paypal in some form or other, and their TOS is no better or worse than Renderosity's. Personally, I prefer just about anyone else. But I'm also a realist.
