Subject: Dynamic cloth "shatters" when calculating dynamics?

Any way to fix this? I am using the v3 dynamic blouse set from the freebies section (the peach colored one). If some one could tell me a good place to host pics for free I would show what I am talking about. It is like the armpits of the shirt get so folded they explode out. Thank you, -mofo

That's strange... I already used this blouse and never had problems... Do you load the blouse from the props library or import the obj file ?

make sure V3's arm never enters her torso, that's the cause of what's happening. You have the item set so the dynamic clothing doesn't enter her body but if her arm does near her armpit then Poser doesn't know how to deal with it and it "shatters". That's why most dynamic clothing items have bare arms.

bookmark Thank you Farside, I have seen this happen before and thought I was doing something wrong in the simulation settings. Next time I'll remember to check the pose!

Hmmm. Thanks for the input. I looked at the animation which is just a slight modification of Nerd3d's v3 walk freebie and yes, the arms do touch the chest, but if they didn't, she would walk like popeye! Is there a workaround? There has to be a way to have realistic walking with dynamic full sleeved clothing.

the biggest problem can sometimes be that when you use morphs to alter the shape of her body it doesn't change where her joints bend. So with certain morphs her body can become wider but the arms still move as if she wasn't. The only thing I can think of is to use magnets to change the shape of her underarm to keep it from entering her body. If you do it right it shouldn't be noticeable since the shirt isn't see though.

I tried it but cant get enough shrinkage to fix the problem without looking weird. Even with v3 blank the problem still happens.

Probably the best option is to add the vertices of the blouse under her armpits to the "constrained" group in the cloth room. Those vertices will always keep their relative position to the closest body part in zero pose, even if it means intersecting another body part. You'll lose some of the natural draping, but the overall result will probably be acceptable. And the cloth calculations will be somewhat faster too. My dynamic "vamp" dress for V3 has tight sleeves, all vertices are constrained, and the sides of the top part also are constrained. Works fine in walking animations.

Thank you so much for the help, and even more for your free stuff. Its better than a few things I have paid money for. -mofo
