In the past some people asked me what kind of postwork i do on my images, so i thought it would only be fair to show you all :o) In my opinion i dont do a lot of postwork, most of the time the images look closer to like it was in reality after the postwork then they did before lol. I treat almost every image in the same way... i add some contrast and enhance the colors a bit... as you can see in the image. Its not world shocking but i just thought this would be a neat thread, especially if some of you would do the same :o) Just keep in mind that in order to upload the image i had to compress it considerably. So its not perfect quality... Btw. I use psp7

well you have a good eye jeroen for in camera composition, where you're not needing to crop, then adding just the right amount of pw :]... i use PSP too... most all of my photos go through clarify & sharpen & maybe some contrast adjustment, smoothing & saturation... think a lot depends on the camera used... i've had to do less with this 5mgpx then i did with the 4... i would imagine it gets better moving up in cam quality & being technical adept at using manual settings... & my scanned images took a lot of pw to clean then up... there can be a lot of varibles to consider :]

Thanks Cindy !! :o) I forgot to mention that i sharpen too, but thats obvious i think... if you resize youll have to sharpen. :o) I can relate to the hassle with scanned images, i shot some rolls of film some years back and scanned them... it was horrible lol But i guess a lot depends on the scanner quality. I can probably get the images out of the cam looking like my postworked ones, because i can adjust the contrast and saturation as in most cams... but i keep those settings on standard because i like to keep my options open hehe I hope to see much more posts here, its really interesting !! :o) Jeroen

I join an example of my work! I use a freeware named Photofiltre to do that. Best regard, Patrick

ok... here's my contribution on "postwork" with some "cheating" in it :p (should we be giving away our secrets like this? :/) i liked the above left one, except for the bottom, so i took the bottom of the right & "layered" & "blended" it onto the left... i don't usually do this but wanted it perfect... "merged, "copied" & used a plug-in called "nik Color Effects Pro! 1.0e- Monday Morning" to give it that radiant glow, then layered the softer glowing version on top of the sharper one & "erased" back the parts i wanted in focus, this technique i learned from another photographer in the gallery so i hope i'm not giving away some magical secret i shouldn't of course there's the added frame with the drop shadow from eyecandy, i've simplified describing my pw technique here & compressed this image to fit i know a lot of postwork, but i luv doing it :]

This is a VERY interesting thread for me, Jeroen!!! First, hats off to your for your outstanding photography! You have many gifts...especially for composition!! Sometimes i use HEAVY postwork...sometimes i do like u...sharpen a bit, add contrast, enhance colors. I will post 2 examples of little post work and a lot of post work...but later...gotta run for now. Patrick...that filter is dynamite!!! really looks great!!!

Thanks Sheila !! Im glad you like this thread, im looking forward to your post here :o) And your work DOES NOT SUCK !! I saw the thread earliertoday but i didnt have the chance to react yet... I believe someone said that the most important thing isthat YOU like your work, it isnt important what others think ! I Agree with that ! As an artist you express yourself and that means you cant please everyone, its just like that. Take care, Jeroen

I am blissful of admiration in front of this perfect work of merge, cynlee!! About my work, a precision: Photofilter is not a filter but a free software of treatment of images with many "classic" effects which I combine in best(?)... I hope that the other rates are going to come, it is very interesting! Patrick

TY jeroen & patrick :] i do constantly strive for composition & technique within the cam viewer but am constantly tempted by the many possibilities of PW...i'm going to go google at Photofilter now :]

Ok, I'll add one of my images, too :o) The first thing I usually do is to darken the shot but only a bit. I do it on most of my shots. In this one I added a very slight sharpening and cloned in the upper left corner as I found that part a bit distracting. Then I added the filter "equalizer". By using this filter mostly the light areas of the image get too bright and so I took away a bit of brilliance. Think that gives a more natural feel. That was all I did on this shot! BTW the "equalizer" doesn't work in every shot... I just play and look how it works. :o) Thank you Jeroen for this great idea! It's very interesting reading your thread and all the replies!
