To link the clothes to the character, select the clothing. Go to Figure -> Conform To. Then pick the figure you want to dress.
This will only work if the clothing was designed for the figure you are using. If conforming doesn't work, the clothing is probably not meant for the character you are using.

Here's a refreshing read for you as well. ;)I have to say...I think the FAQ is a bit off-putting, especially for people who might not speak English very well. That first question and answer is so long and technical, I think a lot of people wouldn't read past it.
Perhaps it would help if it was organized like Stefan's Firefly FAQ. All the questions are at the top, and you click on the question to get the answer. I think newbies are more likely to use the FAQ if they see their question is addressed right up front, rather than having to read through (or scroll through) a small dissertation just to see if their question is on the list.

Hi there, I'm new to poser and need to create a multi figure project. First, I used a standard male figure and tried to add some cloth to it but double clicking the formal suit inside the library but it replaced the figure instead of adding a new figure. Then, I'm trying to add a second person in the project but it keeps replacing the same figure. Why is that? Regards,
