Subject: Posing Eyes.

Does anyone or has anyone seen a tutorial on "Posing Eyes". Been on this for the past three days, struggling. To go with light (Bright) or how dark the area can be. No one chats about this. Only one two topics in the last week, To help bring life to a Character using eyes. Since then, I been on this, but now posing the pupil, and other eye parts (Having problems). This is the New Devi Character(Not the eyes) made by Vali, got as a gift.

You can see the eyes are not posed correctly. The pupil is large for the light. Normally a pupil will be very small when light is bright, but when I scale the pupil down, all else goes out of balance (Warpy).

This one is about posing techniques........ One mistake often done in 3d is the misconception that both eyes face directly forward. I point this out only as that it causes most of the crosseye problems people have in animations and renders. If you point both eyes at one center they will cross even if it is slight. I would suggest trying this to see if you like it. -Parent two balls on a bar or prop. -Name one right and the other left respectively. -Point each eye at the ball it is for. -Move the balls or scale the parent till it looks right. This allows the eyes to follow a target and look softer and more realistic. Just an idea to try, Anton

ps: if the eyes aren't looking atthe center make sure the center of each ball is in the center of the ball. I think Poser prop's centers are on the bottom by default. The eyes will pint to the green crosshairs which is the actual center of the object. I forgot to tweak in the image above which is why the light of sight is to the edge.

Something that works well in post work in Photoshop or another such program, is to dupicate the image and erase the eyes, later adding a subtle drop shadow to that top layer. Just adjust the angle of the drop shadow to match your lights and shadows. The drop shadow gets rid of the 3d eyeball highlights that people don't have. Just some ideas. Hope that is useful in some way. Anton

Ok..maybe if I be more clear. When a person (You, I, or who ever), is outside, looks at the light the pupil dialates, changing the aspects of the eye itself. Now, with the pic way on post #1. The character is looking outside of the window. Her eyes would have to be balanced with the lighting. The pupils are to big to match the lighting At this angle, you can not see the flaws of the posing. I will show another example, but in the angle where I am seeing it at (The flaws). Will use another character, but same eye textures from above in post #1. This is how it looks and posed before anything to match lighting. Doesn't match lighting.

Now at different angle. Now, see the problem? No matter what eye texture I use, or character, the results are the same. Need Posing eye tutorial (Without postwork).

Oh..if anyone asks "Remove Glass window". That is prob doing it. I have removed glass window, and I still have that square in the eyes as well. But the eye itself (Cornea, pupil, and all other eye parts), is not correct.

Hey there, no prob. Eyeball morphs on the Mil folks don't always stack or reverse really well. You might try less morphing on the eye. Or a different combination.

Hey there, Thanks. I am on vacation in Connecticut for the holidays. After 8 months I am still not online at home in Maine. :) Kinda nice. hehehe. I've just been procrastinating in getting online. The real world has been so nice.

I dunno why people put these images as reflections in the eyes. But I have found a cause why I was getting a boxy image in the eyes. Thinking if you have a person focusing away from you and else where, then it would be ok to delete the tranparency map. But if the person is focusing, like she/he is getting a photo taken then it will be ok to keep the image file. I replace the image with Reflect, and the eyes will reflect (like in the image above), window panes and/or outdoors, or what the person is looking at.

Now, deleting the Transparency Map, replace with reflect, I end up with this type of image like this. I am now able to pose the eye perfectly, but the eyes look like Music CD's, or maybe change the eye color. I do see a reflection as well. I really got to get photos of peoples eyes, to get a proper idea. Still working on this.
