Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
I imported Vicky just because I had the obj already in poser. I'll try it the other way but this issue has happened before with other objects. I remember an image I worked on where the character was holding a MP30 machine gun and when it rendered, the barrel and receiver blewup like a balloon. Totally wasted the image. I'll try and implement some of these suggestions. Thanks.

Posers' scaling can be a bit of a chore at times; objects brought into Poser can be huge, characters exported into some programs (like Wings), are squashably small..;) When you import, there's a box that lets you import as x% of original size, you might want to play with that..another thing is I think (at work, so I can't check), there is an option as well to 'place on floor'..give it a shot..
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Try PoseRay.It can read OBJ files (among others), tesselate and split them by edges and re-export them so that Poser or other programs do not autosmooth the model.

See the samples in the gallery section of my site and the tutorial in PoseRay's help file to do this.
good luck,

Easy to fix... Vertices/Split in UVMapper as mentioned. If you don't have UVMapper, you can spelit vertices with Poser.. #1 Select your imported cylinder. #2 Grouping Tool. - New Group.. "Ends" is a fine name. - Select the Top and Bottom of the cylinder. #3 Still Grouping Tool. - New Group.. "Base" is another good name. - Select the rest of the cylinder. #4 Grouping Tool stil. ;) - Spawn Props. #5 Export the Ends and Base as the new OBJ file. The exported version now has the vertices connecting the top and bottom to the rest of the cylinder split, so it will render without that rounding effect.
