Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 02 5:01 am)
sudi, how do you know it is slow? you must be comparing it with something? what is that, and why are you not using it? dynamic clothing, interesting, firefly, interesting, but what MODELS are you using and how many? Unimesh models are extrememly poly-heavy, not too good for animation. ::::: Opera :::::
sudi, your buddy's machine isn't slow ... you simply don't have enough patience. If you're expecting to render animations in real-time with Poser or any other 3D software short of a game engine, animation might not be the career for you. Believe me, six frames per minute is blazingly fast. When it takes over two minutes to render a single frame of a 1023-frame animation, then you can start weeping.
"Believe me, six frames per minute is blazingly fast." I have to agree. If you got rendertimes down to 6 frames per minute without network rendering, you're kicking some major ass. Just as long as it LOOKS how it should. ;-) "Because Poser is just plain slow!" Raytracing and shadow map calculation is definitely slow compared to other renderers I've used, but I'll give it this... it can render micro-displacement faster than any high end renderer out there aside from PRman. Try rendering grass using micropoly displacement on a ground plane in MentalRay or Vray, then try it in Poser. BIG difference. ;-)
Tools : 3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender
v2.74
System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB
GPU.
"Because Poser is just plain slow!" OK.. I know P5 can`t beat Max or C4d for faster rendering on single machine , but 120 frames in 20 minutes... ??? Thats slow !!! , he even touch anything with dynamic stuff so , if i want to push to 8 - 10 minutes , what pc specs i should to buy ? Since i know 32 bit applications only handle 2gb maximum memory Opera : and Little Dragon, I just managed to push my grief threshold to 2.5 mintues per frame how you do that? Thanks
Just out of curiosity: Why do you want it faster? As it was already said, we're not talking about rendering a low poly, low texture game rendering here. We're talking about a program processing a few ten to hundred thousand polygons, perhaps different light sources, Raytracing, several image maps for textures, transparencies and so on which can without problems all together be ten thousand square pxels large - and that program mixes them all together to pictures - one by one by one. Why do you expect it to be faster? Where have you seen a machine rendering such an animation faster?
once again i challenge that vue is faster than Poser, apples to apples. ((That is, aside from dual processor. If you have dual processor...okay, Vue wins)) If you add the proper raytrace and other elements into Vue to make the results equal to Poser with Depth Map Shadows or Ray-Trace, and get the shaders the same, I am not so sure Vue really IS faster. Most people just say it is faster, but they don't turn on ray trace or anything in Vue, I suspect. Someone who REALLY knows how to compare apples to apples in this, set me straight, please. And also, then, I would like to know WHY it is faster if it truely is. Firefly is no amateur render engine. ::::: Opera :::::
Little Dragon starts "weeping" when a frame takes longer than 2 minutes. I have mostly been in the same boat, trying to stay under 2 minutes. But now I've changed my "grief level" to 2.5 minutes, because of ""acceptance"" of that time. It's okay with me now, in order to get sharper images. I've generally upped my shadow map setting, which pushes up render time, but yeilds more detail in the image. ::::: Opera :::::
well..... Poser is ambitious. It's not broken...it's just ambitious...to be utterly frank...it's ambitions have surpassed your equipment. I don't think that setup can run XP. Correct me if I am wrong. But just that alone....XP has better memory management. And you are probably swapping like crazy, so the HD speed would impact as well. ::::: Opera :::::

rudi, in response to your request to think about PC specs to go faster, I posted the above thread and received incredible help and advice on my recent purchase. That 2GB limit was addressed, very interesting answer!::::: Opera :::::

Hi... Im little bit confused with P5 My buddy
s machine : P4 3.06 Ghz , 2gbDDR pc 3200 , i865 from asus (P800), 80+250Gb Hd , when running P5 with latest patch , so damn slow !!! enable/disable hyper threading didnt make faster too!!! Since P5 didn
t support network without plugins (bodystudio , transposer etc... ) So , how fast computer i need it? for P5 pure animation (dynamic clothing, hair , Firefly)
