In the last days I very often see gallery images which seem to be damaged. Does anybody else experience this?

Both images look fine to me Andreas. Have you tried clearing your browser cache to see if that fixes the problem?

DIANE603 ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 4:22 PM

Yes I am having the same problems. The images are chopped.

gumbykat ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 5:42 PM

And I'm not having the problem. Very strange. Can't offer any solutions! Linda

they look perfect to me too, there nothing wrong with them. monica

whirlingfeather ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 7:18 PM

Yes, I have been seeing many in just the past two days, either choppy or re-arranged colors. Wonder what's up?

KITCHAOS ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 8:35 PM

Everything looks fine here tonight, but I did have to log in this morning.

tresamie ( ) posted Thu, 17 February 2005 at 8:45 PM

The first one looks fine to me, but the second one is cut up and pixilated. I have seen one or two others that are bad also. I sent a note to admin to see if they are experiencing problems.

abmlober ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 8:09 AM

I use IE as always. And for me this problem is new. And when I visit other gallery sites I do not have the problem. Only here with Renderosity.

All the images look fine to me when I first viewed them and even today they look fine. I use Mozilla Firefox browser. Marion

deemarie ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 8:55 AM

Hi everyone, This is a puzzlement :[ I have clicked on all the images and can view them without any problems. But ... that does not mean that there is not a problem. Can someone please do a screengrab of any of the wonky images - please :) That way we can have something to show the programmers what is happening. I am currently using IE 6.0.[whole bunch of numbers] And am OS is Windows XP. I have windows 98SE on my hubby's computer and can view netscape from there. Let me see if I see any difference on his computer. BRB

undisclosed-designer ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 9:47 AM

i have no idea what the problem is really, i thought that maybe it's dependable on the browser, i have tried IE5.0, Netscape, Mozilla, Safari, Firefox on Mac OS X ... with Mozilla the mentioned pics look a bit dull in comparison with the other browsers, but not damaging I tried to get on with win2k and xp to see if there is some kind of a problem with that, with Firefox and IE6.0 on either OS, i didn't find anything on the images you specified i have both OS's emulated on my macintosh ya may have to do a hardware check, for maybe the graphic card-drivers may need an upgrade, other than that check with a scanner if there are changes in some of the system-files on your harddisk... [yes antivirus-scanner] hope that would solve yer problem good luck Harmen

deemarie ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 10:18 AM

HI abmlober, I just checked the galleries from my hubby's PC [in both IE and in Netscape] and did not encounter any viewing problems. However, that is not to say there is not a problem. If you, or anyone else encountering this problem, please post some screengrabs, it would be very helpful :) Sorry to not be any more help than that :( Dee-Marie

Here is a link and screenshot of one that has not yet been mentioned. I had to compress the jpg's I'm posting, so please take that into account. I think the misalignment and color shift is very clear, though.

Hi all I have been seeing things fine, but noticed this thread in the Community Center (link above). Anyone using Yahoo e-mail? Could this be the problem? Nick

I do not use Yahoo email, but Mozilla Thunderbird. But my Thunderbird is several weeks in use, the problem described above is relatively new. And very often Thunderbird is closed while I surf. I mostly check my mails with the T-Online Web Client...

I do have Yahoo email, but never had this problem before a few days ago, and only here on Renderosity. I have gotten these corrupted images both when yahoo was open and also when it had not been opened at all during my surf session. I am wondering if there is a problem at the server. Today, when I uploaded my image, then opened it (and it was the first thing I did after turning on my computer and cleaning my cache) my image showed corrupted. I immediately reloaded it through the edit button and it showed perfectly.

Man! Just when I thought there was an explanation for it, lol. Yeah, others are telling me it might be a server thing. Well, I got the word out to Admin. Hopefully we'll find out what the deal is....

now did you reinstall the video-card drivers or not?

abmlober ( ) posted Sun, 20 February 2005 at 2:09 AM

Why re-install? Another problem is that my IE changes text size in the View menu. That is also new... And as I said - corrupted pictures only here at Renderosity...

undisclosed-designer ( ) posted Sun, 20 February 2005 at 2:38 AM

just reinstall the video drivers, mostly its a software problem on the computer as an experienced laptop repairman, which was my former job at the dutch army, i encountered several similar problems, and mostly it was the settings which needed to be fixed, or reset just go to settings>control panel>hardware or whatever you have there and reinstall the video drivers... Before I did I could see the last damaged fractal ok... Now I have to reboot...

kansas ( ) posted Sun, 20 February 2005 at 10:34 AM

Another thought: do you have a spyware program? I find that I must run mine frequently in order to even get pics to load while on R'osity. I often find that whole pages stop loading about half way through and after running Ad-Aware and getting rid of the newest invasions by spyware, then the pages will load just fine. This might have something to do with the distorted images. Just a thought. Marion

abmlober ( ) posted Sun, 20 February 2005 at 12:18 PM

I hope I do NOT have any spyware programs :-) But I have two Anti-spyware programs...

Kathye ( ) posted Mon, 21 February 2005 at 5:26 PM

Just to say I'm getting it too. I don't use Yahoo mail. It's not my cache which I clear out daily and I can't see it's my video drivers when everything on any other site I visited today has been fine. But I just tried viewing locomouse's most recently uploaded picture and it won't come up cleanly at all, even after immediately clearing the cache all I get is a slightly different distortion. Kathy

Richardphotos ( ) posted Mon, 21 February 2005 at 6:29 PM

I have had the same problem but with only part of the images. I found out if you delete files and cookies in IE and then reload the image it will be okay

Compo ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 9:22 PM · edited Tue, 22 February 2005 at 9:27 PM

I have seen this too on some images. Now I just edited one of mine, not the image just the intro text and currently it is totally destroyed http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=890204&Artist=Compo&Start=1&ByArtist=Yes . I reuploaded it but still error. UPDATE I did as above, cleared cache, re-logged 0n and now it's ok. Phew, thanks!

I use Windows Millenium Edition. This seems to be a site-wide phenomenon. I have seen mention of broken images in the Bryce forum as well, though not a single defined thread like in here.

It does keep happening but now I am finding that if I clear my cache I can see the images cleanly which is good :) It seems the site is in trouble though?... for two days running I've had trouble getting in due to SQL/too many sessions. Kathy

I haven't upload my photo's yet in rendreocity but I have the same problem in another fractal web site.Using win xp pro with ie6 and all with the latest updates. The problem came just like that, without to make any changes in my system. Some photo's are damaged and some of them aren't there at all.But only if I am viewing all the gallery in page.If I click on them to view full size photo's are ok.

Hi all Admin is working to resolve the problem: "...we had recently added another front-end webserver box (that makes 5 now) that was running a newer version of Linux and the Apache webserver. I have downgraded the Apache webserver on the new box to match our other front-end boxes. Please post here & let us know if the image corruption problems are fixed." Tim ......................................................... Please post to the thread linked above if you are still having problems. Hopefully all is well now. Nick
