Hi, i'm working on a Marjorie that's been ported into Bryce and having an awful trouble with her eyebrows. Reading previous posts and looking at BryceTech BryceAlive tutorial has helped--man, you guys know a lot! So i'm hoping that you will take pity on me and help out. When i used the regular marjorie head texture for her face & eyebrows (both sets), i got big heavy Groucho Marx eyebrows. i've hunted down a Vicki eyebrow+lash transmap and played with applying them (this is all in Bryce), but i get weird black lines around the edges of the upper eyebrow. i've messed with my own transmaps, with similar effect. Then i tried making the lower eyebrow flesh colored (invisible) and just deleted the uppers. Now she's just got shaved eyebrows. How can i get decent eyebrows back, without just going to post work? Many, many thanks in advance. You guys are cool! --Nan

Make the lower eyebrows the same color as the skin, then paint in the kind you want on the t-map.

I'm in the process of creating a Morph where the "Grocho Marx" eye-brows are flattened. I haven't seen a morph for that; and I'm assuming most people just set the colors the same and work with it as JeffH said. I'll try to get it done this weekend, and get it out in free-stuff, if that will help.

Jeff: You mean, the t-map for the uppers? When i did that, i got flesh-colored & white stripes along with the eyebrow, which made me think that somehow the marjorie head texture had gotten involved. Oh dear. i'm confused. Can you elaborate? You are kind to help. Joey: new morph! Wow, that is sweet. Makes me think that somehow the upper/lower eyebrow thing was supposed to be a subtle transmap like the hair, that somehow isn't working quite right. Again, many thanks-- Nan

No not the uppers, just delete those if you can. The eyebrows that are part of the face; make them the same color as the skin and paint your new ones over them on the t-map.

Bryce right? Go into the material lab after selecting just the eyebrows. Little downward pointing triangle in the upper right center. Click it. Look for something that says blend transparency. Click it. See if that helps.

You have two options with the eyebrows: Eyebrows is the material that is a part of the head mesh and it is textured within the face proper - the same as P4. It does not support transparency - there is nothing behind it. UpperEyeBrows is a material and a separate mesh - its position is controlled by "brows in" (it is tricky to position and there are donated morphs which abuse its location. Not mine. I hide it before I move any verts. It is usually one made with MAAGGnets.) The location for the texture is upper right on the head template. It supports transparency - the head is behind it. It works like transmapped hair. Two of the ways you can deal with it: 1-Do a full texture of eyebrows' fur on the map and use a transMap to define the outside shape. 2-Just put a patch of what you want the color of the fur to be on the texture map and define each strand of fur as well as its overall shape with the transMap. I have played with this, but we would be doing better if Kozaburo or someone with his talent took an interest in Vicki. This part is for Poser or Bryce or Cararra. Just exactly how you do this in the latter two prog. is for someone else to say, But Yeh Eovia!

Here is Marjorie rendered in Bryce with all textures including the eyebrow transparency and bump. The material for the eyelashes and eyebrows must be set to blend transparency. I just exported her head, setup and rendered this about in about 15 min before going to work. The thing with the outer eyebrows is you can make it look like the hairs are sticking out of her head. One word though before exporting out of Poser move the eyebrows closer into her face or else the shadows when rendered in Bryce don't quite look right. This picture I turned of the shadows for the eyebrows.
