Hi cherokee69,
Your attention to detail is way above average.
... so, ... who says you can't make models using Poser. huh?! ;=]
I love the job you did on the texmaps! - Excellante !!! YES!!!
But, um, er, uh, how didja git da lighting inside da smokehouse, huh, huh, huh? ;=]
(your rendering is excellent, also)
So, um, after the barn, what's next? ... the Taj Mahal maybe? ;=]
cheers,
dr geep
;=]
P.S. Don't look now, but you're making a tut. All you need to do is fill in the details, no? ;=]
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"

re: " ... Any suggestions Doc?"
Yes, I have a couple. ;=]
Try this.
Select each object (prop) one at a time.
Use the Grouping Tool to:
Make a "New Group" and name it appropriately, e.g., side panel, roof, etc.
"Add All"
"Assign Material" and use the same name as the group
Exit the Grouping Tool after you have done all the objects
Export all the parts (objects - EXCEPT the door) and CHECK "Include existing groups ..."
Import the (single) object back into Poser.
(Doc's "glue") ;=]
The imported prop should look exactly like the exported objects, textures and all.
If it's ok, save it as a prop so you can delete the individual pieces. (unless you want to save them separately for some other use)
Position the door where you want it and change it's origin to the side where the door is hinged.
Change xOrigin and (perhaps) zOrigin. The yOrigin should not be important.
Parent the door to the smokehouse and save it as a (compund, i.e. both pieces) prop in your library.
And ...
That's all there is to it! ... Simple, huh? ... ;=]

dr geep

P.S. I suggest you save your project as a separate .pz3 file. (before you change anything per my post above) Then, if anything goes ka-blooey!!! ... you can always drop back to your previous known setup. Just a thought. ;=]

If you "grouped" (and named) the objects before you "glued" them together, they should still be available as separate groups when you select the main object and use the Grouping Tool.
The materials, of course, are available in the Surface Material window (or Material Room in P5).
cheers,
dr geep
;=]
P.S. Don't cha fergit ta post us a pic of that there barn when ya gits one now, ya hear.

Geep's tuts are at the above link. Since these building are kind of personal (they are the building on my grandfather's farm and some no long exist) I hadn't considered offering them either in free stuff or the MP. Might change my mind about later after I finish the all. Still have the house to do but it's going to be a real pain.Message edited on: 03/06/2005 09:26
I probably am, mainly because it's something different to do in Poser. I just don't want to fall into the rute that everyone else seems to be in....not being able to do anything in Poser unless there is a naked, semi-naked, or clothed figure in it. Not too many people understand that an image doesn't have to have a figure in the finished pic.
Cherokee - I knew by what we talked about on the phone, that you must be doing some amazing work....BUT THIS - I'm in awe - you underestimated what you were doing. I had no idea this is how you made the buildings. These are totaly amazing = WELL DONE. Like you I'm so glad you have given your Grandfathers projects new life. You family has to be thrilled to get the prints of your work. CONGRATULATIONS - keep up the great work ;)

Hey Doc,
Just had to show you this. Will I've been waiting for your house tutorial to finish, I decided to do something on my own using in Poser your tutorials. They really do come in handy. A smokehouse that my grandfather used many years ago was destroyed when hurricane Hugo came through here in 1989. I decided to try to rebuild it in 3D just for fun. How's it looking so far? Sill have the front siding boards to put on and the front and rear upper boards...along with the tin roof.
