Hi Can anyone tell me what causes these skin artifacts on renders. They always seem to appear around the upper arm area and are driving me mad. What starts off as a promising render is totally spoilt by these little bumps (circled in red in the picture). I have tried lots of different textures and different settings in the render-options but to no avail.

Does anyone know what causes these and / or how to get rid of them. I want smooth skin on the body like that of the face but just can't seem to achieve it.

my 'flip' answer is that she has celulite.... seriously....do you have a bump map or displacement map engaged? turn down the intensity or else eliminate. ::::: Opera :::::

This problem comes from your bump map: it is too low in resolution or is simply a bad bump map. If you use P5, I would suggest to use a noise node mixed with your texture in a math node to contrll the bump channel... ;)

I also find that the bump setting is definitely too high on the arms especially (when using the DAZ default MAT files - converted with MPE3). Another point I'll add is that often I can alleviate or eliminate this sort of problem by increasing the camera focal length, and then re-adjusting the preview again with the camera controls. There's some excellent (more general) advice about Wide Angle - Telephoto settings in the linked thread.

Thanks for the help. Looks liek it was the bump map - when I removed it the image did improve. I thought I had removed teh bump map previously but because you have to select the 'Torso' part of the skin to see the textures associated with it I had missed that. I hope P6 has a way of applying the same texture to all the parts Thanks again
