Subject: Why So Many P6 Threads?

I don't get it, you all seem to have used Poser for years and years and years but yet you fill this forum with P6 questions that you should already know the answers too. You can't be much of a guru ot a bigshot then if you need to keep asking a zillion questions about a program that you've used in the past and can't be all that much different from P5? I'm sure I'll make more enemies with this post don't care and frankly this P6 crowd is not as friendly as it used to be. I miss the poser forum. This was a friendly forum when I first joined Now I'm an outsidder again. So what? You got P6? BFD. let the flames begin because I'll doubt I'll respond.

Poser 6 has new features, that the other Poser versions do not. Everytime an updated product arrives on the market. Their will be new things (features) to it. We do need to ask questions regarding these features.

There are people who put a sack on the porch, strike a match, and ring the doorbell. These are not usually homeowners doing this. Given all the excitement and controversies in the forums the last few months, I do have to wonder why someone would start a controversial post just for the joy of seeing a fluster of feathers. Acadia ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 3:23 AM

I don't understand threads like this. Poser 6 is new, so there will be a lot of discussion about it; that's expected. Mark the forum as "all read", and you will only be exposed to threads that have new posts in them. If it has Poser 6, just scroll on by. Several times I've come here and have seen 3 new threads, all about poser 6...I just mark the forum "read" and move on. I don't see a need to make a big issue out of nothing.

Cause in one day I've gone from P4 to P6 and there's a HUGE difference between the two programs. In alot of respects I have to completley relearn Poser. I'll ask questions as long as I'm in need of answers...Someone here is always kind enough to help me out. No one here knows me from Adam and I'm no "bigshot" but I've never been treated like an outsider by anyone here. Matter of fact, people seem to go out of their way to help me learn...that's what we do here.

randym77 ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 7:12 AM

Who's claiming to be a guru or a big shot? And hey, even gurus and bigshots have to ask questions about new "features." (In some case, bugs!) You've been grumping about P6 ever since you got here. I'm sorry you can't afford to upgrade, but that's no reason for you to pee all over everyone else's parade. I can't afford 3dsMax, but I don't tell people who own it that they shouldn't be posting here. P6 is new. Naturally people are excited about it. The U.S. buyers of the boxed version will be getting it today, so expect a lot more P6 threads. If it really hurts you so much to see them, maybe you should take a break for awhile. Come back in a month, and things will probably have settled down some.

Angel1 ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 7:21 AM

Being on the the ones still waiting for the boxed version (no hair and no nails left) I can only speculate (experience going from P4 to P5) that it's because while the two programs are similar - they may appear very different and rather than muck it up - why not ask someone who may know? I, for one, am following the threads closely to head off any problems I may encounter. If it's any consolation, I'm sure this will pass just as soon as we are all settled in with the new version. Hang in there :-) Angel1

operaguy ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 8:58 AM

I was definately NOT in the book, but you know, Jackson says his move is 'based on' and okay, that's one way of thinking about it. So, I am not objecting because it was not in the book, but because it is a fundamental breach of the Sam/Frodo relationship. There is one point where the Ring Sickness overtakes Frodo so much he thinks FOR AN INSTANT that Sam is an orc trying to take the ring, but that gets shaken off right away. The love and devotion between Sam and Frodo is deeply deeply fundamental to the story, and Jackson was a fool to vilolate it by thinking such a lost soul as gollum could come between. I have used the browser on occasion, but if you want to find out about real opera I suggest La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini to start! Ravishing. ::::: Opera :::::

Birddie? More like 20 strokes over par. Even us gurus have to become acquainted with new features (and I use C4D, LW, Maya PLE, Vue5I, Bryce, TrueSpace, AutoCAD). You're a$$ is hanging out the window - every application has its own quirks, interface, methodologies, and workflows. 1. OpenGL - Poser NEVER had OGL before. 2. Area Rendering - Poser NEVER had this before. 3. IBL - Poser NEVER had this before and is not common to all other 3D applications. 4. AO - Poser NEVER had this before. Usually only seen as plugin in other 3D applications. 5. ShadowCatcher - Poser NEVER had this before. Grow up, read a few thousand books (I have), and get back to us on Tuesday. TYVM

How about if a dog licks his arse and then pees on some small part of your parade while using Poser 6, would that be okay?

Just wondering.

Actually, it's Opening Day here in Cinci (GO REDS!!!!) So please, no one pee on my Opening Day Parade! Please? Not me. The Yankees thrashed the Red Sox last night. All is right in the world. :-) But didn't the Reds used to play the first game every year? When did that change?

xantor ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 9:57 AM

I don`t have poser 6 and I like to see the poser 6 threads because I will probably get p6 someday. One complaint I do have is that there are not enough p6 renders showing off the new features of the program.

OH DEAR GOD...I just spit my iced tea all over my shirt and it came out my NOSE! **Insert dies laughing here...

Yeah, you know the Reds always did have the first game of the season and that changed..... I think it's when they split the league into 3 divisions (Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that's when it took place.)

Hey Birddie: I always like to give people the benifit of the doubt. In your case I would like to assume that you are not simply a troll and that you are just voicing your opinion. So, if that is the case, could you please respond to the civilized and polite answers you recieved in this post. Did they answer your question as to why there are so many Poser 6 posts? Or am I totally incorrect and you don't really care at all as long as you just a bunch of reactions to your post? Your Response = good person who just voiced his opinion NO Response = TROLL

Don't everybody LOVE P6?

After all:

P6 is great. I wonder how we ever got along without P6? P6 will change the world, no doubt about it. With P6, the skies above are clear blue, and the birds sing sweetly in the trees. P6 keeps me up at night. P6 is a dream software. P6 beats everything. P6 clears up the sinuses. P6 makes you smarter. P6 gets rid of stubborn stains. P6 cooks gourmet meals. P6 paper trains your dog. P6 gives you a window into parallel universes.

Excuse me.....I need to go fire up my copy of P6.

Boy, do I feel sorry for anyone that doesn't have P6.

Well I for one have just jumped from P4 to P6 and I only got P4 at the beginning of February so I'm inexperienced plus I know nothing about the features of P5. I don't know how to use the face room (I tried it once, and what I ended up with would have scared anyone if they had met it in a dark alleyway lol), the cloth room is confusing to me, but hopefully I'll be able to get the hang of it. As for the material room, jeez I opened it up once, thought "what the heck is this all about?" and closed it again lol. More tutorials required to study there methinks.

It is because of these P6 threads that are helping me learn more about this program, and it is good to see what more experienced Poser users think of it, it is making me more aware that any problems I have had with P6 is not through my fault, well some of them anyway, but I do know why I have had problems.

I still have a lot to learn about these new features such as the lighting and the Firefly render settings and these threads are helping me understand how they work, how you use them etc.
