Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
heyas; jeff... michaels hands are... pudgy. they look like sausages stuffed in a glove. :) i want hands that have... well, bones in them! some kind of structure. its not just the hi-res... heck, the lower res the better, this guy already strains my memory.... just these hands are a shape i really like, without having to build from scratch, or morph, or subdivide and morph and stuff. i dunno. maybe it would be easiest to cut michael's hands out of his cr2 and just put these on. because you know, i was thinking... these hands use the old hand poses. and the grasp/spread dials work better. (i'm not too thrilled with michael's hand dials. sure, the spread is more realistic how the middle two fingers fall together, but ever try to get all the fingers tucked side by side using that dial?) only thing to worry about is seams.... hmmm... you know, looking at these again... michael's fingers arent so bad. the hi-res hand fingers have too many polys. maybe you're right and a morph on just the hand is the way to try to go. but, anyway... you didn't answer my question about the geomswitching working on a whole hand and children. :) blue: jeff has already cracked the genital switch/alternate geom code, so yes, it can be done, and on any body part (or prop, even).
I don't think the geomSwitch changes out the children with the parent. Mason made a version that switched out the chest, but it didn't take the collars or the neck with it as far as I know. You could create an extra-OBJ call in the cr2 for the hands, but that only works in Poser4.03 I hear. Prior versions of Poser would toss out the extra OBJ call on save.
heyas; ghost.... um, i seem to have a left and right hand. :) i think! jeff: but what i mean is... can you tell the obj switch dial to switch all the pieces you want switched, manually? like... i guess a cross between ecm and geomswitching -- where there would be alt geoms in all the pieces that point to one dial to switch them? man, this is getting nuts. i think i'll do it an easier way. :)

heyas; i wish michael's hands (top) were more like these hands (bottom). in case you dont recognize those, it's the hand figure, which is in the misc section (or wherever the mannikin, skeleton is, etc.) ___ now it would be possible to pose these hands out to match michael's, size them, position them, etc, and then export them and graft them onto michael's wrists. ___ in fact, it would probably be best to weld/link them onto the wrist connection of michael's hand and set them up with an alternate geometry dial, so you could have the standard low-res hands for everyday work, and then switch to the high-res hands for hand closeups and such. ___ (jeff, think one dial could be made to switch both hands and all the fingers at one fell swoop?) why am i bugging you about it instead of doing it? well, just in case anybody has time to do it before i get around to it. :)
