Thank you very much Xena :) Product get ready for packing and upload ;) here some more preview renders done with 15 sets of 28 total. I will recomend that if you render a close up renders you get the value down of the AO, it is simple to do just click on the light and get the value of Ambient Occlusion to 270-300 max for close up renders.. and this from the Pose Room not Material Room. I will make also a little tutorial for the customer how to use it in a quick way with photo backgrounds. Cath

What happens if you add a light so you can have highlights in the eyes? Will it ruin the light effect?

ahhaah the Yupie looks like from suger! sweet! you can add point light it will not really ruin the light effect at all it will give little more contrast that is ok but take care about the shadows because point light use Raytrace shadows only.. try also with spot light and set it to grey color, this way it will not change the mood color. I am curious what you will get! Cath

I tested it now and yes the light on the surface change to much, I will recommend to use 2 little point lights without shadows on the areas of eyes for the very close up renders where the specular have to be visible. I like the way how it looks with the point light at all but we get another effect with this. Other way will be to create a specular maps only for the parts... ? When my Light Probe real studio is done and I can get the exact parameters of the direct sun light I can prepare the lights too but now I can only create the cloudy day lights for in-doors because I need one more real Light Probe ball for the other... little complicated but ok we see the effect later as well! I was waiting very long for the summer here to get this working finally :) Cath

I have the photo references already done for that last week..including the cars surfaces etc.. it get exciting friends! I can't wait to start for real! I need also new forum I think for the close support in the future of the new production that will be for sure helpful for you in place of search the all forums.. Hugs! and thank you again! Cath

What can I say..? I bought the lights this morning and they have gone straight to the top of my favourite products list..well... after Poser 6 that is ;-) I have never been able to get the hang of the lights in any versions of Poser and the thought of having to use them in Poser 6 was very daunting. But now... oh WOW.! I have been loading up all my old pz3 scenes and using your lights with them. What a transformation.! Scenes that were flat and boring with shadows to match, now look totally different and MUCH more realistic. A BIG thank you from a VERY happy customer. I shall look forward to your next and future sets of lights eagerly ziggie

Please see the mini tutorial and get your own ideas for the next creations that can be done in minutes, and don't worry about to use 2D backgrounds in your images, every today do this and this is an Hit too by the Big One... self Pixar guys used this option ( 2d-3d integration ) in the last 3D Movies to speed own rendering time. Sorry... but I just can't get over this light set...! For anybody that isn't convinced how good they are, I am taking the liberty of posting a pic of one of the lights in use. Exactly the same figure and texture map. One rendered with P6 default lights in Firefly The other with Mec4D Studio Light in Firefly. All settings, etc., are identical.. only the light has been changed. I am a rank amateur when it comes to lighting, so... in the hands of someone with more experience they could doubtless do even better. ziggie

Ziggie WOW that are really amazing previews ! thank you for sharing! and I am happy you get this working so fine!

One note about the Light reflections.
The light created from the maps don't have any reflections
like you usual see with a fake light in Poser before, the reflection
have to be reflect from the light using reflection nodes
and why so complicated? because the light is based on the reality.
If you make a passport photo you will not see 2 glowing points in your eyes? no you see the light reflectors that reflect in your eyes.
the same works now also in Poser and the real LDRI LBL light.
You can put in another spot or point light ( the last is the best) and you will see the specular effect as well, but go not to much with the value to not damage the base of the light...
When I am moved this week, I will prepare one more scene for all customers that purchased this set above to show what to do in this situation..
I will also include some trick scene for problems like this
you will love it for sure!

It is difficult I know, but forget about the old light and everything else you learn in old versions of Poser, we made a big jump to the next level, we have to learn accept the new rules that are used also in other apps like Maya etc..
the rules of the real world , light and reflection...

That why my next light set studio for outside will include everything you need for perfect light and reflection, but that is not only the light , you need more that only that... and I started working on one year ago and now I am almost done.. it take time but now it works fantastic..

Have a great weekend
and Warm hugs to everyone!
Cath

Ziggie, if you make a close up render of m3, put in his eye cornea a reflection node under the Alternate Diffuse with black color for reflection node and white for Alternate Diffuse, put in front of him a white square and render, you will get nice light reflection in his eyes :) you can also put on the square a image map of a room or other things to get the reflection working fine, this is the option for today... also Sallie you can do this my dear with the bird the same way, this is simple.. but it will works too.. Hugs! Cath

here is one preview done using the light above and one point light, the one ball is without reflection the other with reflection node and the Torus around the balls is on standard setting and the reflect light on this prop come from the point light that I set to almost minimum to not affect the base light. The AO looks maybe to dirty but please remember that this is sort of MACRO shot of the actual scene and the balls are very small... normal way I will change the AO setting here as well .... but I have to run, I am sorry !!! see you later! Hugs! Cath P.S it is time to make our figures cuddly, as Sallie say, enough of hard edges and hard shadows :) I like this idea!

Cath: tried the reflection method you advised but couldn't work out the size of square or distance from the figure it needs to be. In the meantime... I found that I still got some reflection in the eyes with your light set (just the one)and a very small amount of light from a standard P6 light in front of the figure. Not a perfect image, but the best looking Mattie I have done so far. What I also like about your lights... is the fact that they produce nice shading (shadow) in the ears and mouth, and... no 'nostril glow' :-)

**James was thinking about moving from Philadelphia to a small southern town called 'Nine Times'. James wanted a simpler life, with less hassle. Slower.

He still wasn't sure about it, though. Such a move would be a huge change for him.

And then James visited downtown Nine Times -- if such a place could be said to have a "downtown" -- on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a regular workday for most people.

So it's true what they say about the south........and those accents!**

Used Mec4D's "mixed light" setting.

However, I have to admit that this image isn't 100% pure -- I tweaked it a bit in Photoshop to enhance the shadows. So I 'cheated' a little.

I am a firm believer in postworking. But the base image hasn't been changed very much.

I'm still learning the trade.

The figure on the left is Syrian for V3 by chrislenn. The figure on the right is Jim Burton's Glamorous Vicky, with the Robin texture by A_, and with modified facial features.

The happy guy in the middle is the default Casual James.

The background is 'Early Sunday Morning' by KenG.

Wow cool works ! ziggie, I love the reflections in the eyes of the , everything else looks cuddly! ;) ziggie you can plug in the eyecornea also the light map you use for the scene, I see I need to make some tricks and tips with it soon, there is so many things you can do with the light and the maps! give me a little time.. XENOPHONZ it is very fine scene the light looks cool! and I see where you made changes as well.. I will say for scene like this you can use well one point light in the direction where the big windows come from , it will create much more deep and the dark areas will fill with the Mec4d StudoLight so no strange shadows surprised, it is always recomend to render minimum in Final render mode if you use AO to get smooth the dark shading, and one more tip for you, if you wish to get the shading of the Ambient Occlusion not in grey color try to use point light with a very little color, the Ambient Occlusion shadows will change to the color you choiced for the point light :) that was the tip for today... P.S point light use raytrace shadows so for that is better to not use shadow, and one more tip, if you change the position of the scene it can change the light too.. try out, The light what you see in the thumbnails are standard scene position light, if you turn the scene to left or right or back the light will change and you have new variation and more fun with.. Thank you MaraxCruz :) and Jeremy I hope fast for you...:) Have a great time with your cuddly light effects I am moved and around working on new products again and if you have any questions or want to share your render please do , it is so cool to see what you did with the light! Hugs! Cath

Ziggie, yes thats the new agen't hair, I just made it fit the baby :) Cath, I have no idea what I did on the render! lol Poser was being a pain in the A$$ last night, I got my first out of memory error, and when the little guy finally rendered he had little jaggies around him, especially around his hands. You can see where I tried to smooth them a little. Thanks aaa3d ;o)
