This came up elsewhere today, and I believe that it may have to do with the colour of your diffuse channel. I wouldn't be able to answer directly here, because I have limited knowledge of how things work in Bryce, however, I'm going to move this thread to the Bryce forum, and someone there may have an answer for you. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it
into a fruit salad.
I have used poser in the past. (guess noone in the poser area has any tech knowledge) You have to change the color of the texture map in photoshop or another program and save it. If you just change the color in DAZ or poser when you export to bryce it will call for the same texture map. If you want to keep the original change the name and remember to load the new one. After all is said try what LSD said there are lots of shaders in Bryce you can use your new skills in the DTE. (I read your posts from time to time a laern a few things I have used Bryce for over 10 years)
The wit of a misplaced ex-patriot.
I cheated on my metaphysics exam by looking into the soul of the
person next to me.
LSD, I tried doing it in the DTE - I can change the overall colour but then I loose all the texture. (Tried it with the wing membrane) Dann-0 Don't understand your suggestion, don't use PhotoShop, never done it before, don't know how to even start. What are "shaders" in Bryce? dunno where they are.

And what are "Poser-style bump maps" and how do you use them?

Fran, what I meant by "Poser style bumps" is that the bump map for the Millenium dragon is a 8-bt (256 shades of grey) "image map", UV-mapped to fit the dragon's geometry. It will be in the textures folder, so, - Poser/Runtime/Textures/DAZ/Animals/MilDragon - is the path, after you find your Poser folder. The texture maps for the MilDragon are quite varied, though. Use a thumbnail view and check them out sometime...
Um... I still don't understand what to do - I know next to nothing about Daz so I don't know what you're saying I should actually do. LSD, your explanation may be fine but it's just too technical for me. I'm just completely flummoxed.
