If I'm understanding you correctly you want to render on a plain bg color other than grey correct? If this is what you are saying ...
ON the bottom right hand of your model there's the four round buttons.... (Pink one in the image above is the bg button)... that's how I change the bg color... when I got to render I set it at "Render over BG color" and it works for me... did I help or was this post completely pointless... Try changing the order you are doing things. From your pictures it looks like you are doing the render options first, before changing the background colour. Change the background colour first, and then do the render options. Also, try doing the edit/preferences and after selecting the background colour, do the save preferences and then the render options.

This is a known p5 problem, in the material room, delete all the nodes connected to the background and you will be able to change the background again. It works the same for pz3s load the pz3 then delete the nodes and that is it. When you download the latest patch for P5 (if it's still available), there should be a README file. All you have to do is read it. And make a couple of clicks in the right places... takes just a second to fix. (this info was gathered from earlier threads about this problem) -jjsemp

I've heard that the dumbest questions are the ones not asked, but this one may be the exception.
Using Poser 5, but I've never been able to make this work with any version.
I would like to render with a plain background, without building a wall, so I go to the render options (same in animation setup) and change the background color. Regardless of what color I specify, the Poser grey is always what I get. If I go back to the render options... there it is still... grey.
Yes, dumb... but what am I missing?
Thanks
