Congratulations on your son's birth. Pre-eclampsia can be pretty scary for new parents. Hope Mom is doing all right. At three weeks early, the testes aren't yet descended in many cases. This is not an abnormality. It will take care of itself usually. Your son is an excellent size, good color, and the listlessness at twenty four hours old or so, is pretty normal for full term newborns even. I know all the machinery is pretty daunting, but it's doing its job and the "not holding" part is just to be super careful about infections and tube placement for the respirator. I also would not be too concerned about the weaning off the respirator part either...it's a little soon to expect him to be breathing on his own effectively if he needed to be on the respirator to begin with. He's a beautiful baby boy and he will hear and recognize your voice, even if you can't hold him yet. Tell him we are all thinking about how wonderful it will be when he's "out of the box" and into the world. All our prayers and good thoughts for you and your new son, Zane. jason, congradulations on your new son i certianly wish you and your family the best. remember one thing little ones as well as adults feed on other peoples energy and auras, feed your son with all the love and happiness you can give him and i'm sure he will do just fine. there have been babies born much more earlier than your son that are now living happy and healthy lives. my thoughts are with you and your family. blessed be jeff

One of my children had a very difficult birth and first few weeks and this was 3 decades ago. Every time I look at him and his two children I can't help but think of that time that seemed so dreadful and scary then; but can never forget how happy and thankful we were and are as time went by and he grew well and up! Welcome to the world Zane; it's a blessing to have you here with us!!!... Zane is already a very fortunate boy to have such a loving and thoughtful father ... Zane looks very much like my son in your photograph (when my son was born), so he's already captured my heart...=) He looks healthy and strong even with the complications, so hang in there, and stay positive.. He's gonna get a lot of loving energy from all of us here at Renderosity!!!.. We are surrounding him and giving him a great big spiritual hug.... Like many others here I too was a premature baby .. Born two months too early, with serious breathing problems, but I had Nuns who prayed over me night and day in the hospital even though my parents weren't Catholic.. I was born in a Catholic hospital is the reason for the nuns... It doesn't matter where the love comes from though, just as long as it's love, it's all good.. My prayers and thoughts and all my loving energy is going out to you, your wife and your precious little Zane.... ^Cindy
Zane looks like a sturdy little boy, even with all of the tubes. My love and prayers go out to all three of you. I hope your wife is doing ok. Stay positive, and try to relax. Jason: I was a premature baby but survived. My mother contracted German measles while I was in the womb, which is what caused the premature weight and also left me a victim of congenital cataracts at birth and for my entire life. The "experts" told my parents I would never see; one even said I was retarded and should be institutionalized. That was in 1959... Today: I am 41-years-old, fat and happy. I hold a master's degree in a technical field from a major university and make my living in a visual medium--website development. I owe all of this to my parents, who refused to listen to the "experts" and kept searching for answers to my visual problems even when everyone told them to give up. Hi Folks! I join with all the others, Jason, in praying for you and your family. Since so many of you have provided testimonials to offer encouragement and inspiration, I hope y'all won't mind if I add mine. Many of you have seen some of my posts ending with "isn't it a great time to be alive?!!" After a very sickly childhood (asthma, bronchitis, sickle cell, temporary blindness), I spent most of my adult life healthy as a horse, although a bit underweight. Then last spring I found myself in a hospital, tubes protuding from practically every orifice in my body and sharing a room with a man who had just had a quintuple bypass. I recovered, thank God, and I have come to appreciate life a lot more. I envy you, Jason, because I will never be able to know the joy of having a son. Cherish him, as Jehovah cherishes you and indeed all of us. Hang in there! Peter (Dr Zik)
Knowing how emotionalized a "normal Fatherhood" is I wish you and your wife all the strenght you will need. As my wife works in a childrenhospital I have heard of many problematic birth, and usualy thies little Humans have a gigantic will to live. be hughed and give your son all your strengh. your not allone rob / germany
My youngest sister was premature and very ill at birth, I can remember that she was in hospital for a long time, but now she towers above all the other women in my family (all 5 footers!) and is a 23 year old lovable hell raiser with all the energy in the world!
