still in beta :) but it seems that v1.0 is not that far away anymore!

Yep, still in beta, but not long now. Phil, I'll say what I say to other merchants at DAZ. Get it and learn now. Doing it step by step as new features are added is way easier than waiting till v 1.0 and trying to figure out how to make your products work all at once. Not only that, you have the option of requesting features and having a hand in the development of it. And they DO listen. I've seen a bunch of things implemented that I requested. Something poser users can only dream of. Apart from that, it's a pleasure to use. After 8 years of battling with klunky old poser, I've found an app I actually enjoy working in. mac
To anyone who's having crashes. The major factor in almost all crashes with DS is the video card, and most especially the drivers. You MUST have the latest drivers or problems are practically guaranteed. DAZ collaborate closely with Nvidia, mainly because Nvidia supports OpenGL more than ATI does. Actually, I have an ATI Radeon at the moment (with an Nvidia arriving in a few days), and I haven't had any trouble, but I've updated the drivers with every new release. I know it's really frustrating when apps crash constantly, but the latest releases of DS have been relatively trouble-free for most people. You might want to try again with a newer version. mac
This problem happens when you load any D|S content from their "library." Someone obviously didn't test this version before releasing it.

soul survivor, Yep, I saw your post in the DAZ forum, and it's pretty odd the problems your having. I'm not saying DS doesn't crash, because it obviously does on some systems, but yours seems to be quite an unusual situation. I won't say it's your system. That's stupid. But there may be some weird compatibilty problem and who knows what it could be. These things are so difficult to pinpoint. Sorry to be so unhelpful. It's hateful when these things happen and there's no rational explanation. BTW, have you tried uninstalling and installing a previous version? I make a point of always keeping previous versions, just in case. As a matter of fact, I've already uninstalled this version and gone back one. That was because of a smart-parent bug where some props (but not all) are opening in strange positions. I'm finishing off the DS version of a new product, so I was forced to go to an older build. Really annoying because I can't play with all the new save options. mac
Aha, so you have experienced your own difficulties with this version, and "rolled-back!" Remember I have two computers, with different video cards. D|S no longer crashes on the computer with the ATI Radeon 7000, but still does on the one with the Nvidea card. I may get around to "rolling back" later. In the meantime I've gone back to Poser for some creative projects. One must act when the inspiration attacks.
I also have been using Daz along with Poser 6. I have had some crashes on one of my computers on graphics intense scenes but that one only has 512 mb of ram the other with everything else identical and running 1536 mb of ram has yet to crash. It did shut down a scene or two when I foolishly tried to do several things at once. I do like that I can more easily control the characters with the new beta version without twisting them out of shape.
Seems that this version is not the best one. I got same crashes when trying to use the Base Content and reported that to DAZ. But on the other side D|S works well with Poser content and more than that, it has now "Save Shader" option, and if it works I will not have to fine-tune the surfaces anymore :) It stumbles but gets better and better ^_^ kitty #rendergods

How odd! I just replied to someone on the DAZ forum who's getting crashes with the base content too. I asked a whole slew of questions about computer, OS and video card, but didn't know there were any issues with the base content itself. I'll go back and post this new info. Poor girl! It's her very 1st day with DS and her 1st post at the forum. mac

D/S 9.25.0 is now the current version. Updated spot renderer is now included in the base download of D/S. :D
