Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 12 9:36 pm)
Doctor. How is it that you can do this? When I do that. The mesh explodes in Poser. The last I heard. The head is the only part of a figure that can be morphed with C4D. I Don't know exactly why yet. Are you saying that you can make Morphs for the other parts of the figure's this way? If so. I'd love to know what settings you are using in C4D6. ScottA
Yep just heads so far Scott, Steve Cox explained to me whats happening and cinema is moving the order of the vertices around but keeping the same amount (his expanation was more technical of course :o) thats just my version).....i also heard that it was something to do with the way mirai exports the obj's but they didn't use it on the heads hence they work.....but i could have that wrong LOL........Nitrous I have no idea why your getting that error are you using V6?.....BTW its ok to scale head morphs i usually scale by 1000 then set the axis back to 1 then do the morph work then scale by .001 and they work fine......Steve
Sounds like there is a scaling issue at work there. That's exactlty what happens when you rescale a body part in Poser. Then export it and re-import it. And apply the same morph to it. But it's interesting that the morphs dont explode this way. It could be a usefull step in finding a workaround. ScottA
Doctor you have it sussed thanks loads :o).......the reason it moves is coz poser doesn't give you the "as morph target" option with 3ds export so the morphs moving back to the figures position.. so heres the fix......add your figure to poser and remove all IK then open the joint editor and zero the figure.....then import the figures obj and line up the figure to the obj (just a move on the z axis should do it (go into line mode makes it easier)) then delete the imported obj and save the figure back into the library now export the bits you need from this as 3ds use as the doctor prescribes and woola a working morph :o).......Steve
Nice job Guys. Nice bit of cooperating there to solve a problem. Steve. It's not as involved as what you said. Here is a simpler way: 1.)load the figure 2.)zero it in the Joint editor 3.)export the body part to be morphed as .3ds format 4.)set import in C4D to 900 for both 3ds and .obj files 5.)open the .3ds file 6.)make your morph then export it as .obj 7.)apply the morph in Poser You shouldn't need to line anything up in poser if you export the figure from the zeroed position. Nice find guys. This will come in handy. Thank you. ScottA
Uuugh! Sorry Steve. You're right. When it comes to the Poser standard figures. They need a little help getting back to true zero position. I never use those figures. I always use my own custom ones. So I never have to deal with that nonsense. They really screwwed those figures up. I use an import scale of 900 because it translates fairly close in scale from Poser to C4D. And back to Poser. I like it a lot. Give it a try. ScottA

Help please. I can't seem to load objects modeled in C4DXL an dsaved as .obj files into Poser. Can it be done, and how? Nitrous
