In a recent thread by AgentSmith I posted this reply;

"...You say "please discuss ANYTHING you want", so can I promote some kick-ass music. I know of a REALLY kick-ass music-video with great scenery that could help inspire BRYCERS! (I kid you not).

It just also happens to feature a kick-ass babe with a kick-ass voice, all packaged up in a kick-ass leather jumpsuit, running to a kick-ass electronic music track!..."

Well, that kick-ass Moderator has allowed it, so here it is, thanks AS:

It's a personal favourite of mine (awesome vocalist), and apart from being totally cool, I've always thought the lunar-like landscapes would be inspirational to Brycers, and dare I say it, Vue users (Poser users might like the babe).

Anway, it's a 22.9MB download, and requires the DivX codec.

If you decide to download it, I think I should warn you to "Right-Click" over the link I've attached and save it to your hard disk first (DO NOT try to stream it).

If you want almost guaranteed addiction, watch it "Full-Screen" mode in a darkened room, and use headphones so you can pump up the db's!

Once you're addicted, you can buy the album from your favourite online CD importer.

Well, music is very subjective. I'm a Jazz and Blues man myself. But I also listen to Eminem, Black Eyed Peas and whatnot. But, I've never taken a liking to that Euro Techno Pop track. When I was in Zurich, this is the only kind of music being played in Bars. And that was 17 years ago. And from what I hear, they're still playing that same kind of music. You're right about the babe though. Anyway, don't take what I'm saying as criticism. I'm glad you posted this (although I'm on a Mac, and had to look for the MPEG version). I like seeing and listening to new things. Even if I don't like it.

Huh?

@bandolin
Sorry 'bout that, I didn't know Mac's couldn't use DivX. Glad you found the mpeg though. I didn't post the MPEG because it's a larger file than the AVI, and yet it's not as good quality (DivX rocks)! As for the music, I can listen to Jazz/Blues sometimes, like a quick listen before I sleep or something. I could never fill my personal hunger for a racy track though :-p

@ysvry
lol - no need to be nasty :-D

@ICM
That's your son? - cool. Visited, but couldn't find the music :-(

@draculaz
Trust you to spot that one. I don't know what exactly it is your researching, but if it's an issue of "that" copy of Playboy, I think you ought to know it's now 2005 :-D

@cambert
You obviously haven't seen the video, her kit fit's like a glove, and I'm guessing it cost an absolute fortune!

BTW everyone, after seeing dracs excitement, I'd better make it clear that pumeco has NOTHING to do with Slava, it's here only as an inspiration for you folks (scenery and stuff). If you can't find any inspiration for a Bryce scene in that video - check you have a pulse!

Have fun.

Forget the text on the image, does anyone know what she's actually singing about?

That would be really cool to know, my Russian is actually very poor. It's hard enough trying to speak in Russian, never mind having to cope with the Cryllic aspect. I always have to use my translator when I communicate, and those things can make strange translations a lot of the time.

Still, I'm not that bothered about translations really 'cos she's a great vocalist - and I mean that's a pretty "intense" soundtrack which doesn't even overpower her voice!

Sans2012, you certainly won't regret going for Ableton live, that thing's the cream of audio/midi sequencing - no doubt about it. I use it as a test-bed for the VST/VSTI's because the routing on it is simply out of this world :-)

I'll certainly let you know what I think of your tracks, I'll download them tonight and post here tomorrow - I'm no music critic though - lol

As for the VST's, they're not in consumer accessible form (no front end), and can only be used on custom built studio setups. Been working on a consumer release but can't find the funding for decent piracy protection, so everything's on hold.

@pakled
That's some setup. I envy you 'cos although I've had quite a lot of synths, I never had the luxury of owning them simultaneously (always had to flog one to buy the other) - lol I'd hang-on to those old analogs if I were you, always an investment!

@TheBryster
Is that a good idea ;-) ...I gotta learn guitar sometime - dunno when though.

@Jaymonjay
lol

@Sans2012
Ok you asked for it - I downloaded your music and here's my opinion (which you should totally ignore)!

Well, the first tracks are kinda like ambient/electro/experimental or something. I do like the ideas in them, and I liked that feeling of "peace" halfway through "Floating Point". On the minus side, I think they're lacking a melody (though this was probably your intention). When I heard them, they instantly put me in mind of "Monokini" (see below). I thought wow at first, but as they progressed, I was expecting a more "animated" chord progression if not a melody, but neither happened.
I can't help feeling that they'd be so much better, if only you'd use a more varied chord sequence.

As for the Death-Metal tracks, now your really asking something 'cos I never thought I'd find myself even attempting to listen to one :-) That's a compliment by the way, because I actually quite liked the last track (your Solo Jam), even though Death-Metal is not my cup of tea. You've certainly got that sound of "Chaos" down to a fine art though - I'll give you that ;-)

I've dug-up some links here for you. I've posted two bands, Monokini and Nichya.

I've posted Monokini because I want you to see why your music put me in mind of their music. If you animate your chords more, and add some melody, I think you could get a similar thing going - assuming you liked it of course.

I've posted Nichya because they mix synth and acoustic - just as you're doing. And their music tends to have that air of chaos ;-)

BTW, did you like the Slava video?

Just kidding ;-) I know you can get a lot of power for 5 these days. In fact you can get a lot of power for 0 quite easily. Anyway, have fun with that 'Bryster, it'll soon give you the bug!

@pakled
Hmmm...let's see now, trying to remember my kit list. I think it went something like this;

In order of ownership:

Kawai K1 - Used
Roland D10 - Used
Korg 01WFD - Used (kept it the longest - great workhorse)
Korg X5 - New (VERY underestimated IMO - loved it)
Yamaha MU80 - New (Liked it)
Korg Z1 - New (A little dissappointing)
Roland JV80 - New (Sounded very feeble IMO)
Korg IX300 (Never again)
Yamaha FS1R - New (REALLY wish I'd kept that one)
Roland SH100 - New (Wish I'd kept that one as well)

But now that's all gone, and my current setup is a VERY modest software only setup;

Ableton Live 5, NI FM7, Vocaloid Miriam (Virtual vocalist), plus my own design synths and processors - that's it.

...oh yeah, and a Technics P30 piano (used as the master keyboard) which I want to retire to piano use only 'cos I want an M-Audio-Keystation-88-PRO as master.

BTW Brycers, if any of you would like to do pumey a favour, I'd like one of these please;

http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/KeystationPro88-main.html

...and one of these;

@pumeco, yeah your definitely right "experimental":) I tried to avoid the norm main stream chorus, verse, chorus and so on. Although I do write some commercial sounding stuff, I tried to create something a little different with these particular tracks. Check back there occasionally, I will be changing the tracks every so often. The Death tracks were for fun. Yes, chaos was the intention with those lol. I sequenced the drums in fruity using some real drum samples, then I improvised some guitar tracks over the top. I just wanted to see how the drums sounded with a guitar so that's how they came about. Thanks heaps for the feedback;) I think your the only person who has listened to them lol. The Slava video was great. Maybe a little commercial for me, but I liked the video all the same. I would love to know what the hell she was running from though(Translation please). pumecobann ( ) posted Mon, 15 August 2005 at 9:02 AM

@TheBryster, either your taking the piss at my "typo" or you wanna know what ASIO is :-P

Just in case do need to know: Basically, your soundcard has "latency", which in laymans terms, describes the amount of time it takes a signal to go through processing and/or the soundcard driver. If you were to play your guitar without using ASIO, you'll probably notice that you don't hear the processed sound the instant you play it! With an ASIO driver though, and a decent setup, the delay (latency) can be massively reduced.

BTW, just a quick note anyone who couldn't download the Monokini mp3's. The site is back up and running again - it may have suffered a case of "Attack of the Brycers" sucking the bandwidth dry!

Pumeco: I seriously didn't know what you were on about. I've since googled and have d/ld the drivers. However, the system I will be using has its own latency correction and will not (in some setups) allow the use of asio. Thanks for the explaination anyway! ;)
