The fore light is an Infinite Ray trace W Blur-rad@ 2.0/Shadow min Bias @ 0.5 Shadow @ 1000, Shadow map @ 1024.AO is at Nil... "How about we call you the "Node Duke"? Will be interested to see this "clear winter outdoor scene" you're talking about. Cheers" I would be honored!! THANKS!!! But seriously I still have a LONG way to go yet! I'll be posting the nodes tommorrow! Thanks for the feedback folks!
Shadow map on a raytraced light?! What have I been missing here? I thought Ray traced lights did NOT use shadow maps o_O It looks very neat btw, and I'm awaiting the node settings as well.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
"Shadow map on a raytraced light?! What have I been missing here? I thought Ray traced lights did NOT use shadow maps o_O" ============================================================ They don't, I used the D-map light for the back, and The raytraced light for the foreground light to get some accurate cast shadows! And Yes, I'll be posting the nodes tommorrow..As I don't have time to do it propor today...'Cause I gotta go to work soon.....Yammit! I think I'll call in sick! LOL!!<---Sigh I wish!
Very nice looking renders. I'll be interested to see the node set-up too.

I thought the render you get from #2 was normal for FS - not that in #1. The render in #1 looks like it's got the backlight shadows tuned incorrectly, which is why her whole face is red. To me #2 looks better than #3, which is maybe done using translucency?

You said "While in a real world situation Like say IBL on clear sunny day, this would prove impossible to capture any realism because this would involve clear cast shadows, and not diffuse soft shadows as required by the DEFAULT P6's FS feature"
In this render, I'm seeing almost no difference between the ray-traced version and the shadow mapped version. In fact, the shadow mapped version looks a little better to me in that it does not have the jaggies of the ray-traced shadows. Why do you think using shadow maps gives bad results for outdoor scenes? Perhaps you forgot to increase the shadow map size?
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Just a click... It's more easy... ;-)So do you add an url in it or what?
It's one of those things I got hoping to make those nice pdf readmes, and have never been able to get around to.
Man, take about stupid and easy! I never bothered to look at the acrobat toolbar that was added to explorer. 1 click, and Bam! it's converted! Installed, it, meaning to look at it the next day, and never ever got around to it. So I got TWO great tips from this Poser tip! The more I learn, the mor I learn there IS to learn!

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
Here's another tip about saving forum topics.
If you have Internet Explorer, while viewing this page, just choose File/Save As. Then choose
Save as type: Web Archive, single file (*.mht)
Pick a filename that will make you remember the topic. IE will save the page with all embedded images into a single file. No need to buy other software.
There - that's 3 tips today!!!

As you can see in this render, I'm using the default FS on her head text.....
Pretty crappy eh? Now while most folks would simply would'nt use ray-traced shadows..
While in a real world situation Like say IBL on a clear sunny day, this would prove impossible to capture any realism because this would involve clear cast shadows, and not diffuse soft shadows
as required by the DEFAULT P6's FS feature...
If you were to render an indoor, or cloudy day this would be perfect though..
