Subject: DS Scenes will not re-load properly. Why is this?

Anyone has had this problem before? I posted this in the DAZ Forums, but perhaps someone here will be able to answer this. All my scenes in DS, reload all out of wack. I create the scene. I render it, save the render and the scene, then exit DS. Now, I reload DS again, load the scene, and when I load the scene, all the clothes, hair, skin, etc etc is all MESSED UP. THis is any scene that I re-load again, no matter. Why is this? Anyone ran into this before? I run the latest version of DS: Windows XP SP2. Athlon 64 3500+ 2 GB Infinity RAM GEForce 6600 PCIe. I dont think its a hardware thing, but then again I posted them in case U might ask. What can I do? I tried to remove DS, reload it, and nothing, nada, no success. I hope to find an answer for this, as this really bites when I have to stay in DS to re-render a scene over from different views if needed. Attached is the pics. The first one is when I loaded DS, loaded V3, clothes etc etc, and render. Saved the scene, exit DS, reloaded DS, went and re-loaded the scene again, and I got what U see in the second image, everything is all messed up. THANKX for your time...

Here is the render when I exit DS and load DS again, and load the scene, I get this. I turned off shadows on this render, as I needed to render quickly.

I've never experienced that kind of problem. So now the question is "What's different about your scene that might cause this kind of problem.?"

I think I remembered that there is a bug that doubles the morphs on reentry but I am not sure.

cornelp ( ) posted Sun, 26 February 2006 at 5:59 PM

That could be Ghost, not sure. I was testing while I was waiting for an answer, and this is what I could duplicate and com up with. I reloaded all the items in that same scene, and then saved them. It all worked good, no prob, that is until I resized V3. i resized V3 and then all the clothes and stuff went out of wack again. I am not sure if this did the problem, but could someone do sort of the same test? Load up V3 with some pose and some clothes (any clothes), resize V3 down below 50%, and save it. Exit DS, load DS again and load that same scenery, and see if the clothin is out of wack. If it is, then its a bug, if not, then I guess its just me, or something I cant figure out. THANKS All...

So it's a scaling issue.

Bea ( ) posted Mon, 27 February 2006 at 7:16 AM

There is a known bug to do with the resizing of figures and clothes I do know that. Whether this is the same problem or not I am not sure.

OK I dont want to re-write again the entire story, lol, so gonna give U the link to Daz forums where I posted this. Perhaps someone that has that package could do a test on this, if time is available and U dont mind that is. Daz3D Thread

The title of this thread is incorrect. You imply that ALL D|S scenes will not reload properly. I've successfully loaded ALL of my D|S scenes, including scenes made by older versions of D|S. True, I do not scale my characters or clothes. I do hope you find the cause and solution of your problem soon.

Soul, if U can load all your scenes no matter which version of DS U used to save em, then can U load a scene, and then scale V3 up and down, and see what happens? That will tell if my statement is correct. U do not have to scale the clothes, just V3 or M3 whatever U have loaded in the scene. Thankx...

I loaded Victoria 3 in a scene, scaled her up and down. I saved her and reloaded her. No problems. Your situation is likely different than mine. However, you should bear in mind that your situation is not unique. There is no need to treat it as an individual problem.

There are some scaling issues with DAZ|Studio, and they are working on the problem.

I've seen several forum posts about that problem.

Yeah Soul, I got another message from Daz Thread and they said there that some people had this problem and reported it, I just didnt see the threads on this. I guess I will just wait and see, meanwhile I guess I can stop sizing V3 up and down and see how it works. Thankx

Sorry I am simply late in reading this post. I also have this problem but it appears only with some conforming figures when you use the fit to option. As soon as you reload a scenes saved the scaling of the conforming objects a doubled. To correct this you will have to rescale the % of all the conforming figure to the % used by the main figure (in your case V3) by hand. I know it is painful but I did not find any other way doing it. Hope this helps.

Thankx Jroulin, ill just have to stay away from scaling V3 for now, til they fix the issue. I always use that, so i guess thats why my scenes have these issues, so gnna keep away from it now lol, or go back to 1.0 but i dont really want to do that. Thankx...

I'd think you could find those threads by doing a search for the word "scale or scaling." Or maybe "morphs."
