Subject: Looking for someone to grade my work :)

I have spent 3 days studying, reading and practicing. You all have been very helpful here in the forum. I have read most of Poser 6 Revealed, and i have one more book on the way.. I want to have you all look at Mickelle in the forum, search for vulcanccit for author. I would appreciate any time you can give me with any advise and criticism, good or bad. Thank you again

I can tell you it looks wonderful or horrible and another person can come along and say the opposite. The person who REALLY should be grading your work is YOU!. Art is about you. What makes you happy. What allows you to express yourself. Are you pleased with what you've werought or do YOU think it needs improvement and what do you need to do to improve. It's all about YOU..

It seems a nice render to me; just two things: you can rotate on the x,y and z axis the earrings to make them perpendicular to the floor (gravity force), and the toes position makes the shoes look "wrong", so after conforming them to the feet you can bend the foot toes until both are parallel to the floor - perhaps you'll have to adjust the foot position a little, but the result will be more realistic :) For the rest, keep up with the good work! :D

In reply to Mordikar, yes I do like it. I wanted a face that was something I created. When I look at her I really like her. I also think she wants me! hahah I just really enjoy it. I do know I can improve on all levels, but I see some of these gallery posts get comements and votes and others do not. Not just my stuff but other gallery uploads as well. I have only just gotten back into Poser a week ago and I cant stop! In reply to Blaufeld. I never even looked at the feet! Nor the earings...thank you for pointing that out, I hope to start noticing those things on my own. I appreciate the comments :)

You're coming along nicely :) For me what I find when I add shoes, I usually have to select the foot of the figure and bend it up or down in order to get the heel and ball of the shoe planted on the ground. Then I select the toes of the figure and bend those up or down in order to match up with the angle of the toes of the shoe... just like your own foot would be if it were in a high heel shoe. I agree with what Mordikar said though. Art is very subjective and it's impossible to make everyone happy, so don't even try. The only person you can make happy with your art is yourself and that's who you should be striving to please. If anyone else happens to like what you made, that's just extra icing on your cake. My best advice is to study some of the images in the galleries and see what they do. Also look at pictures of models on the internet or in magazines and see how their joints bend in relation to their pose. Pay attention to the hands and fingers, and feet and toes. I think you're doing well so far :) Keep up the good work :)

Thank you Acadia! you helped me last night on textures! That is what I do, I spend almost 2 hours a day looking at the gallery, both poser and Bryce (I love to do Bryce too). I look and think wow, I want to do that, or gee look what they did..etc. I have never had any training other than Photography. I took some of that in College and have done a lot of 35mm work, but never have I been trained in art. I get a picture of something in my mind and I just go after it until I create it. It is like a driving force.

Quote - I get a picture of something in my mind and I just go after it until I create it.

That's exactly what happens with me. I see the finished product in my head and then set about trying to recreate what I see on paper or computer. If I don't see it in my head first there is nothing that I can do to force myself to create. It's either there or it isn't. That's how I write too. An entire poem or short story pops into my head and basically I just sit down and type it like it's dictation. I can't just sit and decide to "create". I have to be inspired by something that gives me that idea to work from.

I like the POV. The vicky models do horrible things in the shoulder and collarbone joints when trying to do hand above or behind head poses. What I would see as the two most obvious areas to do some corrective tweaking would be: -bend the toes up to make a level base from the ball of foot to tips of toes to stand on -try some slight dial tweaks to see if you can keep the basic right arm pose without all the twisting of the upper arm. This may not be possible to correct in poser and may take a slight postworking. Some clone stamp tool or other photoshop or psp work to take out the twist Great face and expression on the character!

There's a fairly simple trick to have earrings always point down vertically. Works only with earring props, not with earring figures. First, make sure that the object center of the earring is placed where the earring touches/pierces the ear. This will be the center of all rotations for the earring. You can do this using the Joint Editor (Window->Joint Editor). The object endpoint should be at the center of mass of the earring. Second, create a primitive prop (box, sphere, cylinder, doesn't matter what). Parent it to the BODY of the figure wearing the earrings. Set the xTran and zTran of the primitive to zero, and the yTran to a large negative value, -1000 or so. Make the prop invisible. Third, select the earring and choose Object->Point At and choose the primitive. Do so for both earrings. Now they will always hang down, obeying the laws of gravity. Good work on your first character! Nice shadows and lighting, a great looking face and a wonderful smile.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

I myself find it very hard to get anyone to comment on my work I might have 250 some views but not one comment. So then you as an upcoming artist wonder? "is it done right or does it look good or not"? And I'm just as bad as others for not making comments like I should. So just maybe when we do view someones work we should leave a comment. (sorry just had to say what I feel.)

I'm guilty for not browsing the galleries unless I see a link in a thread pointing to a particular image. I don't know why but it never even occurs to me to click the gallery link here or anywhere.

I appreciate everyone's comments...those earings are figures not props but I did adjust them a bit and I can see what was needed. I never even looked at them before someone mentioned them (typical guy never notices her new jewelry :) ) I try and comment on the gallery photos that I actually click to open .. I look at a lot of thumbnails but not always open them up. I know for me, I have not known what to say on some of the comments as I didnt think I was a good critic but now I am seeing that Art is based on what it does for you, and not some critique based on a template mentallity. As soon as I can upload another photo, I have adjusted Mickelle's lips a bit and took the advise of someone and used the Pretty Base Textures instead of the one I used before and I love the change.. She has a new pose and is trying to make James happy :) Look for this to be posted later tonight when it lets me upload. You all are very friendly and helpful, I enjoy it here!
