Subject: YOU FUCKING UNGRATEFUL BASTARDS!!!!

x2000 ( ) posted Fri, 24 March 2006 at 4:27 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 11:07 AM

My free stuff items keep popping up because I've had hosting problems and have been forced to change the links a couple times. And unfortunately, editing a free stuff item here makes it pop up again. Blame Renderosity's archaic bullshit free stuff system, NOT ME! If I get one more nasty fucking e-mail or IM about this, I'M PULLING EVERYTHING. My son has had serious health problems for months and I don't have time to deal with a bunch of selfish, ungrateful fuckheads. I'm just trying to be generous and I'm sick and tired of getting kicked in the face for it.

Wombat ( ) posted Fri, 24 March 2006 at 4:29 PM

I love your work so please forget about some bullshit some people write. There are many people think like me for sure but the others cry louder normally. Thomas

I'm sorry you are getting hassled. I had been thinking how generous it is of you to persevere in making your work available despite obvious hosting problems. I won't hold it against you if you ditch but in either case don't let the bastards get you down!! I am sorry about your child, it must be miserable for you all. Good luck. Best wishes.

Thanks:) I'm sorry, I probably flew off the handle there. But damn it, I have 54 free stuff items. A few are for my marketplace figures (and some of those could be used with other figures), but most aren't. There are complete original figures, interior sets, posable props, all free for commercial use. I didn't have enough room on my Rendervisions space to fit all my stuff, so I had to find other free hosting to be able to offer everything. zUpload crapped out on me, theupload.com tried to install spyware, and some people were having trouble accessing savefile.com for some reason. Finally, MGCJerry offered me safe, stable hosting. It's been a huge headache for me, uploading everything over and over on my measly dial-up connection, changing all those damned links time after time. But I did it because I like to share. And what do I get for it? Nasty e-mails and IM's. My free stuff, some of which were fairly successful products at one time, some which I've often received requests for, are suddenly spam. I'm sorry that Renderosity's system is screwed up, but that's not my fault. If anyone wants to bitch, go to the Community Center forum and demand that they change the system, that edited items don't show as new uploads. But don't blame me. Many thanks to all those with kind words, though. I can really use them right now...

Yikes! The old saying "no good deed goes unpunished" has some merit I'm afraid. That doesn't make it any less good, but it sure makes it harder. I understand that. There's a thread a few below this one on the meaning of the term "complete idiot." Maybe the ingrates need to be referred to it. Or a plan "B" might be to simply respond to those IM's and Emails with one word. "Onara" That means "fart" (maybe even 'honorable fart") in Japanese. It probably won't make anything better but I (and certain French soldiers) know that sometimes it helps one to deal with difficult people by farting in their general direction. Hang in there and don't hesitate to take a break if you need to. You are very appreciated by most of us. [p.s. Yes, that really is the Japanese word for fart.]

Hey, X2000, You are STILL the MAN! I've always appreciated the fine work you've done and the great gifts you've given to the community. Ignore the people who always have to find something to complain about. They haven't had a new upgrade of Poser to whine about for a while now, so they must have a lot of pent up frustration. Thanks for everything you've done. And I send you best wishes for your son's health to improve. -jjsemp

Thanks everyone:) And special thanks to AntoniaTiger. That's a pretty damn good answer;) I love seeing my stuff put to use. And yeah, I should know better than to let a few assholes ruin it for everybody, but the last IM was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I should also know enough to take a breath before I post, but sometimes ya just gotta rant, you know?;) I don't expect anyone to kiss my ass or anything, but I don't expect insults and accusations, either. Oh yeah, it's all part of my evil plot to... hmm... you know, even my sinister mind can't think of a scenario where having my free stuff popping up as new again and again could possibly work to my advantage. Lord knows it hasn't helped sales of my products in the slightest... lol

x2000 ( ) posted Fri, 24 March 2006 at 5:49 PM

PS: I just edited the last five items earlier, so once they're re-approved/reposted, everything will be back up here and the savefile links are all history. Which means, yes, there will be five more items popping up as new again... sigh

Hi x2000,

I am very sorry that you have been "bitten" by the system. Please understand that there are some people out there that would complain even if they were going to be hung with a BRAND NEW ROPE!

Your models are excellent (as shown by AntoniaTiger - Thanks Antonia) and their excellence is only exceeded by your generosity in sharing them.

My best wishes for your son's health to improve from one who knows that if you don't have good health ... then everything else really doesn't matter.

Keep you chin up and thanks for venting here and giving us a chance to respond.

Keep this in mind ... there are FAR more good folk out there than F****** B*******s. The only problem is ... the FB's usually scream louder, more harsh, and longer than the good folk.

Take care, be well, and ..................................................... straight ahead.

Sorry to hear of your son's health problems. You really don't need any other aggravation at a time like this. For what it's worth, I have downloaded a few of your free items and I intend to put them to use in the near future. As far as the complainers go, fuck 'em. Your stuff is great and I - along with a lot of other people - appreciate the hard work you put into them. I hope you don't decide to pull them but if you do, I understand and don't blame you one bit. My best wishes to you and your family.

sorry you feel you have to say this. but when you did. you said it to everyone that logs on here.yes i have been getting a little tired of seeing your free stuff pop up, but i also understand why it has done so. i also understand what a right pain in the backside it is, when your web space drops or you have to change or move your files. but that dose not give you the right to post a suject line like this. if you have had IM using the same words as you have posted then maybe you should have reported them to the mods, but the best way to counter people who atack your work from the gutter, is not to Descend to that level. myself and alot of people here Respect your work, but we all have a life out side of here, not all of them are good.

Please don't take what a few (hopefully it's just a few) unpleasant people are doing as the way most people are reacting, and please don't punish the rest of us by taking away your wonderful freebies. People do have a tendency to write when they're upset more than when they're not. It is inexcusable that they should be nasty in writing to you. Hit that delete button and forget them! Nothing that happens online means anything, thats why they developed delete buttons .. its the real life stuff thats important. Yeah, I know the complaints can be annoying .. and you have the right to be pissed .. but come on .. grow up dude.

I check the Poser forum and freestuff daily so I'm well aware of your hosting problems. Seeing the same stuff by you posted in the freebies section more than once doesn't bother me. I'd already assumed it was the way the site operated that updating anything in that section made the product "1st in line". Of course, not everyone reads the forum. As such they will not understand why your models are being posted again and again, then take the classic "we're being spamed", line. I can understand their attitude if they can't work out what's going on. I see no need for a thread title like this. Either deal with the flack from individuals by refering them to Renderosity staff to explain how the system works, or ignore them and keep on doing the good work you seem more than capable of. WISQ

x2000 ( ) posted Fri, 24 March 2006 at 10:14 PM

kathym, wisq, you know, I'm sorry I lost my temper, but I'm going through enough stress in real life that I'm in no mood to pussyfoot around. Anyone who can't accept a gift with some courtesy doesn't deserve even the slightest consideration.

Incidentally, most of the complaints have been e-mails, so I don't even know their R'osity usernames.

I know there's a lot of good people here, but sometimes it's easy to forget that...

But thanks to everyone for all the support. You've definitely reminded me why I'm here:D Let's just put the issue to rest so I can go make more goodies;)

I can't provide individual domains, but I have an FTP server which a few people find useful for hosting Free Stuff items. And it's free. And it's been operational for five years at least. Barring an act of nature, it should continue for some more years. I cannot offer all the bells and whistles of a proper hosting service, but then it's not as volatile as these so-called free services. :) The machine is on a firewalled router with 24-7 AV protection, a good FTP server software, tons of storage (80GB solely dedicated for the internet), and I check it daily.

  • Oi, if you're the mtre d', you said you were booked solid for every time we tried to book this place for our dinner, but I don't see many customers in here now, and there weren't the other times we passed.
  • Er, their plane's late, the airport rang, they'll be coming.
  • And every time?
  • And you'd want the place exclusive, I couldn't put other customers in the spare seats. And too much risk you'd get a call-out at the last minute and I'd be left with all the food cooked and I'd have to give it to the Aunt Sally [= Salvation Army] or something like when next door booked some firemen two months ago. Sorry, I don't take bulk bookings from uniforms who may get called out. And where's my doorman?
  • Your bouncer's under arrest for obstructing and assaulting Sea Patrol. We have permanent right of entry everywhere except a few secret Armed Forces areas. Here's the list of what we're ordering. We'll be back with all the men in an hour for it.
  • Steak au poivre - cres suzettes - etc etc, what's all this fancy stuff you want!? You can see above my head what's on our list. I don't like waterfront thugs in riotsquad uniforms barging in giving orders, and I didn't like seeing nine tons of good nearly-new sport diving gear including mine and seven RIB's vanishing into your fragmenter at one of your surrender points, and no soundproofing to stop us from hearing it being ground up.

If a freestuff link is edited that is older than 30 days, it doesn't pop up to what's new again. However if it's within 30 days then it does. I don't know why that is. I asked for them all to go back to their original spot but this is what I got. (They used to all go back to What's New, no matter when posted.) With the community conversion to Bondware 3 just around the corner, hopefully there will be some good enhancements to freestuff which will stop this happening in future. Just an FYI for all there :-) X2000, I hope your son is better soon. I know how distressing it is when a child is sick. Karen

I hope your son has a right speedy recover, it shouldn't be that when you are trying to give something for people to enjoy that you get such flack with it when you are dealing with your son's being ill you don't need that extra stress. I'm sorry a few ruin it for the many with complaints and mean words..you shouldn't be met with that when you are giving something freely for people to enjoy. It is a privaledge to download and use your items, not a right. Thank you so much for your d/ls I have a lot of fun with them. Plus big props for wanting to share so much that you'd transfer them over again when the links fail via dial up. That can not be a fun prospect.
