Subject: Victoria3 And BodyPaint :

Hi. First of all, I'm not sure whether this should be here or in the Cinema4D forum... Here it goes anyway: I'm having a go at creating a skin texture for Victoria3 using BodyPaint. I'm able to paint onto the model directly now, but what's irritating is that I can only draw onto one part at a time using the RayBrush. Because the lips and head are considered seperate material groups, I can't paint a line, say, accross her face and lips in 'one' stroke. Is there any way this is possible? I've looked into seam-guides, but they're irrelavant here because I am painting directly onto the model. Sooooooooo, how's it done - if at all possible? Len. (Any help - much appreciated)

What you're describing should be possible. I'm hoping to get C4D soon and have been reading up on the Body Paint module as well. Go to the Maxon site and click Products > BodyPaint 3D R2.5. Then over on the right, click on Projection Painting under the Highlights Tour. If that's what you're trying to do, then maybe you could try doing a search for tutorials on Projection Painting. 😄

Use UVmapper to remove all the original material zones, replacing them with just two (head and body). Then you should be able to work with just two seperate maps (no way round this as they use the same UV space).

Projection painting is definately the way to go. No need simplify the mats, as Projection painting can automatically paint across materials as long as all of them are selected.

Yes, and projection painting is there in v2, IIRC - no need to get v2.5 just for that. (Though there are probably other good reasons to do so!)

Yep, pretty sure it was in version 1 as well, from what I recall. actually 2.5 is not much of a jump from version 2, there are a few new features, such and normal map baking and things like that but not a lot that make it particularly better for poser map production.

Aaaaaaaaah, damn! Yeah, that Projection-Painting sure looks like what I'm after. I say damn because I'm using R1 - and it doesn't have that feature. Indeed, the problem is because of shared UV space - so I can see now, how selecting multiple textures and then using Projection-Painting would work. Aaarrrggghhh!!! Thanks all, much appreciated. Len. (Who's just discovered how much his upgrade is gonna cost) :scared:

Honeslty for me, before I upgrade to BodyPaint, I would jump over to Deep Paint first, but that is me. Sharen

Would it solve my problem of drawing accross multiple parts in one stroke? If so, I'd certainly take a look at it 😄 I haven't looked at it in years, so I suppose it's evolved a lot now. What in particular makes you recommend DeepPaint, Sharen? Len.

Hmmm... Yeah, I've just looked at their website and it seems kinda cold - very little info. It seems DeepPaint can paint accross multiple objects, but so can BodyPaint2.5. It looks like I'll be sticking to BodyPaint. Not only that, I've got Cinema4D8.5 with some modules - so it makes sense to stick with BodyPaint because of the intergration with it. Thanks all, at least now I know what to go for. 😉 Len.

Well you are right, it was not like that before...too bad..but you are right, looks as if they have dropped the support. Sharen

Yup, it is a real shame too. 8-(
