I tried the code you had in another thread. I didn't mind the colours, but I found that some things didn't show up. - The list of forums in "my options". The text is the same colour as the background. - Some of the text in in the search results for the same reason. - The active page number of the thread list you are on. There were a few other things that I found I couldn't see either, and I don't know enough about CSS to try and fix it. So I went back to the default one.

This one doesn't have anything "black on black" - of course. That was one of the things that was changed, and the reason why I call this my Final one... And thanks to Cherokee for getting rid of the white bar (I hope I'm crediting right here?)

This one is very nice!! Thank you :) Maybe they'll include it as an option once they get that part working :)

Lisbeth, We should probably include PJF in those credits as well. PJF suggested the auto setting for Internet Explorer to get rid of that white streak.
Okay, how do you actually USE such a list of programming thingies... is it called a "css sheet"? I can see where to input the colours I want in that document, but how do you actually USE it? i.e. plug it into Rosity? Also, now I look more closely what's this: color: #CCCCCC mean? i.e. what colour is that CCCCCC stuff and what's it for? "BODY {background-color:6666FF; color: #CCCCCC;}" and will it interfere with my choice of 6666FF for the background? Also, how can I change the text to Times New Roman? I see there's something about "Font Families" in there, but none mentions TNR and I don't know what to change it to.

It WILL interfere with your chosen background. It will make a forum that looks like in my screenshot in the first post. Black background with white, Verdana text.
To use it, you just copy from the first /* and down to the last */ and paste it into that window in your options (the window below the one where you can put in your signature)
And save and that's it.
To change it all to Times Roman ... just change all the places where it says font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; with font-family: Times New Roman;
If you want your blue background instead of the black one, you must seek out the places where the background is #000000; which is black. #CCCCCC; is a light grey.

Well, I've gone back to the default one again.
For some reason suddenly I'm coming across very many posts...sometimes nearly whole threads, where the the posts appear blank until I highlight and see that there is text there.
Your new theme was working great until a couple hours ago and then it got quirky with not displaying some text in posts. Not sure why.

Automatic text color changing is not working, Acadia.
My stylesheet is set the white on black, but when I post, the text stays black in my own posts.
If I manually set the text to white, "I" can read it, but it will be white on white for someone who set the background color to the default white in his CSS-stylesheet.
My Gawd, that's outstanding! A thousand thanks to you good people!

Well, sheesh!
I was just getting used to that other scheme too :( It's strange that it worked as it should until a couple hours ago.
I first noticed it after I got a MYSQL Error on the boards. After the Error went away I noticed lots of new gizmos in the reply box, and also that nearly the whole thread I was trying to read was black text on my black background.
Weird.
EDIT: Hmmm, and the quote system isn't working right either. I clicked the "quote" link and it should have automatically did the HTM quoting, but it's not in HTML???

I think that I'll wait until such time as the process is automated before I attempt to adjust my color schemes, backgrounds etc..
When it becomes available -- then yes....I'll go for white text on a black background.
It is interesting -- I'd never read a novel that was printed white text on black paper. But I prefer my monitor screens that way. Then again: printed paper doesn't glow with its own light.
XENO.. just out of curiosity.. your post is one of the invisible ones, when using my colourscheme.
Did you deliberately change your font colour to black? And if so, why?
I'm just trying to understand why suddenly a lot of people are apparently changing the default black colour to ... black.
And it's annoying because it makes those posts seem blank.
I guess I COULD re-write the css to use the Rosity-blue as an overall background, but.. I prefer white text on black background...

To my knowledge, I DID NOT change my font color to black -- if it is black, then it's involuntary on my part.
Here's a test:
This line of text is 'automatic'.
This line of text is black.
Back to 'automatic' again. I think that part of what is happening here is that the forum parameters are being tweaked even as we type. My guess is that it'll be another week or two before things get finalized.
Both the automatic and the black is.. black to me. And therefore unreadable.
Damnation :( Just when I found a colourscheme I liked, Rosity will implement somehting that makes it practically unusable. At the moment almost half the posts here are black-on-black.
I'm using Firefox 1.5 on WinXP btw.
XENOPHONZ, do you use the default colour scheme here? (I'm trying to track down what triggers this coz it's a PITA)

I would imagine it's the new text formatting feature causing this for you.
Tom
I hope someone can because it's driving me nuts. I'm using a black background also and many messages, I can't even see unless I highlight the text.
Editing this post.
I used the default also...black text on a white background...but I can also read it as this message comes across as white letters on a black background in my browser so there is something else that's causing the problem.
Quote - XENOPHONZ, do you use the default colour scheme here? (I'm trying to track down what triggers this coz it's a PITA)
Yes -- I am currently using the default. I find that at least for now it's the path of least resistance.
OK.. just as I thought this was my final CSS, they implemented that new edit thing that makes at least some posts appear as Blac-on-black.
Not useful at all. So as a compromise, here's another version. It uses the "Renderosity Blue" as a background for the posts, making it possible to see both white and black text. White looks best of course, but at least black is legible now.

This latest change is good - just think it needs a slightly different blue in this message panel to break it up a bit - can someone point me to the line that controls the colour of this cell?

Thats a great idea Mizreal. If someone can start one over there with the first style sheet variation, then I'll go in and make it sticky then members can add to it.
Just whoever starts the thead give me a shout by email (stacey@bondware.com) or IM and I'll jump in and sticky it.
You might consider placing the sticky in more than just the HTML forum. I know I would never think to look there for something like this. I suspect most other's wouldn't either. In fact, I'd bet many many people wouldn't even think of CSS Stylesheets (or don't know what they are) at all.
Before they made me they broke the mold!

are we going to have an easier way to change the colours in future?..something that doesnt require inputting strings of code for the casual viewer would be great..something like a wysiwyg editor?
& just out of curiosity, where do you guys put all that code?..is it specific to a particular browser?

Puntomaus, try:
a:link {color: #XXXXXX;}
above where you have a:hover (actually, it probably makes no difference where you put it, but there keeps it tidy and easy to find ;-))
Obviously, change XXXXXX to your hex colour of choice.
The mid-blue bars across the top and bottom of the page are, I think, hard coded by Renderosity (it's their corporate image). I doubt those can be changed.
I used that dark blue forum entry background to start with but since about half the forum entries appear with black text it makes them very difficult to read. I chose a mid grey as a compromise - black and white text shows up OK, and it's not too blinding.
BTW, what browser are you using?
.

Thank you, I am going to try this :-) I have a hard time with the black text too. At the moment I am simply highlighting it since I want to keep my background color and the blue text color. Luckily not everyone changes the text to black.
I am using Firefox with a different theme, it's called Fusion Alternative.
