Subject: getting head in max

hi,
i exported a james hi rez head from poser 6 as obj.  then imported into max.
after importing .obj in max should i be able to right away see the face texture on the model in max?

The .obj import tool in max allows for including texture coordinates. whats that for?

I notice nothing happens.  The object head imports but no texturing.
what gives/ i am newbie.

does whatever obj i import  in max have to have texture mapping coordinates reapplied?

Iam confused.
thanks

ps.  Can i export james from poser 6 as seperate objects like export 3ds does?
what are settings for that.

More than likely Max just can't find the texture maps. After you import the head, open up the material editor in Max and point it to the texture maps. (The eyes and eyebrows might need a little work.)
I think there's a tutorial here at R'osity about bringing Victoria 3 into Max-same concept.

Without texture coordinates, you can't put textures on an object at all, so make sure you import those with the obj.  ("texture coordinates", "UV coordinates" or "UV mapping" is what a model uses to tell it how to wrap a 2D image around a 3D model - i.e. which bits of the texture go on which bits of the model.)

P.S.  Since this is essentially a 3DS Max question, you'd probably get more knowlegable responses if you posted it in the Max forum.
