Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

Seems everyone has to have a bitch at the TOS all the time and then throw one and leave the site in a great big fanfare to get the sympathy vote yadda, yadda!!!

We all come here, read the TOS and tick the box saying we'll abide by the site rules and then moan about it when we "push the limit" a bit and get slapped for it by the PTB!

And let's not pretend that there aren't people here that try to push the limit to it's tipping point 'cos there is!  The system is fair, you get 3 strikes before you're out from what I've seen and if "YOU" decide to keep pushing, don't bitch about the resulting ban etc.

I know I'll get flamed for this but you know I don't give a shit, I happen to like it here, have never had an image removed in 3 years and never will, because my images [such as they are] don't cross the line of the TOS and never will in whatever they choose for the TOS, "BUT" if I don't like the TOS ever I'll just go somewhere else which is something we can all do right!!

BRING IT ON!!!

Injustice will be avenged.

my pix were lost or deleted during one of the site change-overs in the late 90s. no big deal. they were just a bunch of sucky poser renders and toons. I say, let poser users call themselves artists if they wish, but when they have these monthly public tantrums worthy of a true "artiste" defending a masterpiece, it's a bit pretentious IMVHO.

Yes & various other topics that pop up week after week after week that are NOT knowledged based.  I might take a gander at them if I'm bored or if I need some entertainment or if I need need to go sleep LOL.  I also agree 100% with Miss Nancy.

This afflication is not just here, but at most all 3d sites.

Unicornst ( ) posted Tue, 19 September 2006 at 3:52 PM

Pretentious temper tantrums? Pardon me. I don't think that is all that is behind it.

It's not the TOS in itself that is causing people to leave. It's the grey area and the fact that some are removed and some allowed to stay when they are the same type of image using the same 3d model.
It's the not being able to get a clear answer from anyone in charge here without having to have a team preview your work before posting.
It's the site speed and having to deal with incredibe slowness when you use dial-up and annoying slowness if you have cable or dsl. And when you ask a guestion, you are told everything is fine for the ones runing the site. Therefore...no problem.
It's the repeated statements from the ones who run the site that ANY problems you may be experiencing with the site HAS to be on your end because Renderosity is perfect.
It's the outside banner ads that try to scan your ports and the ads from google that give this place a "cheap" look.
It's the rules that can and have changed daily that you don't get notice about until after you've broken the rule.
It's the threads that get locked or removed when someone asks a question that TPTB don't want to appear or want to have to answer or can't even answer.
It's the members who yell child porn and pediophile when a nude fae appears.

But most of all, it's the fact that this is supposed to be a COMMUNITY art site that was built from the members here, but the owners have forgotten that fact and/or don't seem to care anymore.  Apparently, some of the members here don't care either from the remarks already made.

Well, here's another "pretentious artist" that has had enough of all of this. I'm also a "pretentious vendor". Both of those facts will be changing. As for the "artist" part, I stopped posting images. I'm not planning on removing my gallery as some of my art is in people's favorites. And as soon as the rule about the length of time for my last product has reached the date, the store will be removed as well.

I know, I know... Farewell and don't let the door hit you in the behind. Trust me, I don't intend to.

svdl ( ) posted Tue, 19 September 2006 at 4:03 PM

Don't know what your bone is with Poser artists, Miss Nancy. The site speed being unpredictable (varying between fairly slow and unbearably slow) and not being taken seriously when you post about it (for a LONG time the only answer ever given was "It's fast on our side, must be something wrong with your side") doesn't have ANYTHING to do with Poser, Photoshop, 3DS Max or whatever.

Truth be said, that poll about site speed indicates that the staff are taking the speed complaints seriously - finally, after how many months of reports?

When it comes to TOS, I mostly agree with thefixer. Mostly, because things aren't always as cut and dry as we'd like them to be. I've had an image removed some time ago, and at first I was angry. Looking at my image again I realized that when things were taken out of context it could be seen as a TOS violation. Hadn't looked at my work that way when I posted it. My mistake.
Things like that happen. Okay, I got a slap on the wrist. No need to bitch about it.
And yes, I've made things that I wouldn't dream of posting here. So I don't. No problem.

Are the TOS reasonable? They are, IMO. If I didn't think so, I'd have left for another place.

Is the system fair? For the most part it is IMO. Mistakes can and do happen, and usually those are corrected.

Is the system perfect? No. Nothing ever is.

So, no reason to bitch about it. Suggesting improvements is something else though.

I agree that sometimes the TOS seems to be waaaaaaay too  "open to interpretation" to put it kindly, but generally an artist knows what passes and what doesn't.   I remember posting what I thought might be a borderline pic a while back.  Trouble is I only thought about it after I posted it so I contacted the admins/mods offering to delete if it was deemed offensive.  It was deemed offensive, I deleted it...end of story, except to say the whole matter was handled in exactly the way it should have been; politely.
The fact that I didn't consider it offensive has nothing to do with it.  There are plenty of places to post my work and it was acceptable in the other places I chose to post it,  and no, I don't mean "adult" sites either.
A  painter wouldn't walk intro a gallery and throw a hissy fit if they refused to exhibit his or her work, on whatever grounds.  Why do people assume online galleries should be any different?

i guess people do get bored with it so why bring it up again lol.

and i have to go with missnancy on this one.  though i argue the tos at time i do find that many of the so called poser artists to be pretentious when it comes to defending "their artwork" and before anyone cuts my balls off i do think a select few who use poser can be called real artists. for me the majority are pleasure artists and whilst thats okay the difference is great. a bit like singing in the bath and doing it for a living. zollster...missnancy isn't making it personal..shes just stating her personal opinion. i'm sure it's not directed at you.  maybe this is what she means about being pretentious. ...think about it

i always love these word battle's..

About the TOS ..well i think its ok, but looking at the images lately .. i think some people go on and sometimes over the border.

But what is a normal nice image to one is a devilish image to one other..

One is offended by a nude boob ..that has to be labeled nudity but how about people that feel realy unhappy about two man hugging and kissing or woman for that matter... there is NO rule for those images or upskirt etc etc all those image where it real people are labeled sexual content.

here they make a big noise about a 3d character that has a age in some way like aiko..

I know there are  people that have the same feeling they have about a nude aiko,

as they have about two man in a "sexual" hugging pose...

I .. i dont care about a nude aiko hugging dudes or girls etc etc..

I care more about threating everybody the same and thats where it goes wrong here..

EDIT and proving who you realy ARE ? what the hell is that about ?????

The point I was trying to make [obviously badly] was this: If you decide for whatever reason to leave the site, that's up to you but why go through the pathetic "here's my last image" thing and stirring up a hornets nest of sympathetic murmurings on your image only to come back here a few days, weeks or months later like nothing happened, It's pathetic!

If you want to go, then go but don't make a bloody big drama out of it just to get some sympathy!

Happens all the time, I'm going then I'm back, then I'm going yadda, yadda, just make up your mind and do it one way or the other!

*You know what Grammie used to say...."Don't let the door hit you on the way out, or whine when it does!" , and while I am thinking about it, most Artist's in general are pretentious to some degree or another! Those that say otherwise are not being truthful. After all why post your pic's at all, if not to "Show Off"! Now that is the heigth of pretention! If it is being displayed for sale, that is business. If it is on the Ren Galleries, it is to show how good you are, and if you post it, you deserve respect for throwing yourself to the wolves (commonly known as rendergods) Because it always amazes me how "some" people can be VERY pretentious, while protesting how they aren't! Most are wonderful, some just like to get attention in any manner possible. BTW, I agree with The fixer, who is one hell of a nice person! :)

Things are never as easy as one thinks. Take the TOS for example. A plain thing that states what is possible here and what is not. No question that the owner of a site has the right to define them.  As all the others I accepted the TOS when I registered and I think I never violated them. So that is this.

But there simply are no rules that aren't subject to interpretation! Never have been. Even the ten commendments are... and they are really easy, aren't they? And so we got to the point. YOU may find images with - in the broadest sense - gay content offending. For obvious reasons I don't. I saw some imeges in the Poser Gallery a few days ago with openly anti-gay and anti-liberal content! Does anyone ask if I find those offensive? Of course not  - there wasn't any nudity... what a pity - and I don't have a problem also because I simply... ignore them.

As far as I know the TOS are the same as the day I registered about half a year ago. But it seems that the interpretation is getting narrow minded the past three month. That's my problem. I stated it in comments and I state it here: let young people (I never met an underaged here) see what love is and can be. It won't hurt. Looking at one of my uploads will never bring any young girl to the 'wrong side' of love. That's impossible! But please be careful with violence! Even with the patriotic kind of violence!

I know all I said is pathetic and I'm no artist because I use Poserand upload - for an unknown reason the people who say Poserfreaks are no artists have no gallery... I will not join any discussion about this old, old question. And I never claimed to be an artist. I have found a medium that is a prothesis for someone like me that cannot draw a line! I'm a bad, bad girl, I know.

Ok, my five cent, sorry that it's more than five lines and in my humble English. Is there a conclusion to all this crap? Yes! I'm mortally afraid of the moral majority!

billy423uk ( ) posted Wed, 20 September 2006 at 5:04 AM

i've seen some fantastic artwork by some who use poser rainbowgirl. i just think that the majority of poser user think themselves good artists as opposed to hobby artists. not that a person can't be both. and the saying .....someone who doesn't have a gallery can't make a comment about art or galleries isn't valid. it never has been never will be. ...btw i don't think what you said is pathetic. maybe they do it cos they feel they've been slighted fixer. though i agree with you that sometimes they do overdo the drama queenery lol ..... it isn't allowed it isn't allowed...does that mean you can't try and broaden the scope of whats allowed and isn't allowed? or at least get a clearer understanding of what criteria is used to pull an image.

Billy, I didn't wan to get into the rights or wrongs of the TOS, I don't care about that, I signed up to abide by it whatever it is just like we all did, it's not an issue as far as I'm concerned!

What I saw red about was members saying they were going to leave and making a big drama out of it and getting the sympathy string pulled to satisfy their obvious need for attention!

There's a lot of sites I don't like how they work so I don't go there, end of story, I don't make a big thing of it though or leave in a cloud of martyrdom!

I never even noticed any slight you may have done to me anyway Billy, I have no issue with you or anyone in particular, just the mindset of some!

Well I never had an image pulled. I never really tried to get one pulled anyways. If I want porn I want  to see real people and I don' t like workign on those kinds of images so much. I do like something a bit sexy but things that go beyond the TOS are often just porn and if you have problems finding porn on the net then well you need help.

Some other offesive content is removed one in a while. I don' t like to post images that fall into that catagory but I often like see extreme opinions. I perfer people not know my real opinions on certain matters.

As far as the poser users as artist thing goes Some make great pictures but the root of the problem is that those who do everything themselves often have to put a factor of 50 to 100 times the work into their images They know they used poser before they downloaded models before it is no mystry to them but they feel their work is worth the extra effort.

Agree... there are a lot of good poser images but honestly I think most of them look very much the same (same characters and props used over and over again). We should not forget that not everybody wishes to model their own models - this must be respected but I generally find renderings with self built models more interesting (even if not as technically perfect).

I love 'Rosity. If I ever quit loving it, or the rules make me feel oppressed or whatever, I'll leave, and I doubt anyone will care. I doubt anyone will care now that I love it, but I had to say it anyway. I'll hush now and wait for more drama to read :-)

Sarah

micsteel ( ) posted Wed, 20 September 2006 at 7:54 PM

'Rosity is fun. Sometimes, drama is, too. So in the interest of drama, I will pose this:

I have seen art get pulled, that did NOT violate the TOS.

It can be said that opinions vary, but to me, words are your power. If you say, for example, "no nude child models" and use that as justification for pulling images of half-dressed--or even nude--adults, you have reduced the power of your words. Much of that, and you become a pathetic liar.

We live in a society that shuns pleasure, unless it's self-destructive or painful. Just look at our movies, if you need proof: It's okay to depict murder and gory battles and serial killers and vicious terrorists as heros (e.g., "Go ahead: Make my day!"), but it's not okay if Bambi kisses Thumper. (What, you never saw Bambi kiss Thumper? Exactly!) Further evidence can be found in what is referred to as "comedy": If it makes us laugh, you can bet it's because someone is hurting.

So naturally the team at Renderosity has a hard time knowing what to pull! Society is so concerned with the concept of "political correctness" that people's feelings are ignored! One whining...

Okay, I'll stop now. I have a thing for honesty, and it hurts me that the society I live in doesn't know the meaning of the word.

None of this is meant to incite riots or flames. I'm sorry if anyone is offended by it. (No, I'm not apologizing: If I was wrong, I wouldn't post it in the first place. I am empathetic, though.) My viewpoint is that of an extra-terrestrial: I'm just visiting this planet.

Thank the Goddess!

:)

Alien visitor, you totally missed the point of the original post, this wasn't a rant against the TOS, I said that at least twice possibly three times in this thread, It was about the primadonna attention seaking "I'm leaving and taking my ball with me" brigade that go off in a huff in a blaze of attention vowing to never come back and then a few weeks down the line or sooner they're back!

And for what?....What does my Renderosity membership fee get me?

1 ) A Free place to hang my "Art".

2 ) Free Interaction with professional artists and other software heavy hitters to walk me through techniques.

3 ) Free Tutorials.

Muahahahahh,...you didn't think I would be prepared now didja?

Well...I've had this domain for several years now. Just waiting for such a time ( like now ) when the fee here doesn't justify the service I get from coming here.

Although my site it's in a "Transitional" stage right now, I've managed to promote it to the point to where I have my own membership.

Well...it's a membership of "One" right now but jus you wait,...I'll have at least a dozen one of these days, and we'll all sit around and talk and laugh about how bad Renderosity is.

We all must evolve and move on eventually.

i agree tom. rosity should pay us for using their services. it's disgracefull the way newbies of software get helped with silly questions and pointed in the right direction.  but please please please don't go.....you're a fantastic artist (now i;ll have to see if i kind find some of your stuff lmao) and a credit to rendering bendy figures. you're an absolute artist and as such your temper tantrums re the fee should be listened to. you are rosity tom. please come back and just ignore the admin with their help and their fees. ...what do they know

Fee? Just a nasty rumor you're trying to start, right? Or is that for folk who sell here; I knew about that one.

I like the galleries here better than any of the other sites I've seen--heck, mostly cuz they have comments in print large enough for me to read! :D but you're right, billy: If any money changes hands for our access to the site, it should be US getting paid. Let RR collect their tithe on sales; they provide a service there. But it's the COMMENTS and the INTERACTION WITH LIVE PEOPLE that keeps me coming back.

(I buy most of my stuff at, um, that other place where the, ahem, other software comes from.) :D

I Posted 2 links to "MY" gallery, at "My" site, in that post...but as mentioned, it's mostly old stuff.

Damn it,,,you made me come back here to reply.

Cant you just let me leave in a huff "In Peace"?

lol

micsteel,...you mean you didn't have to pay a membership fee when you signed up here?

Man...now I really feel ripped off.

I wonder if that is why Tim had me mail him a check made out to "Him" and not Renderosity.

They trixed me again Sméagol

i know you had two links tom. i checkered em both out and to be honest, one of the links contained images that were in my opinion much too violent, way to sexy by far and some teetering on the edge of outright pornography. i can't say which one it was cos everyone will just flock to the sight to see the tittyfest you have going on there.. the woman in the cat suite with it all hanging out was particularly lascivious sp i thought.
