also, some textures apply the bump map to the gradient bump channel not the bump channel in the materials room. Make sure it is attached to the bump channel, then experiment with the settings to achieve the best result. In P6, you need to turn the bump channel down to below .1 to get decent most of the time.

And you can try the Unimesh Realism Kit by face_off. He has two available - one for PC and one for Mac
I have the PC version and it's brilliant. I also have his OcclusionMaster for PC and he has one for Mac
I wouldn't be without either of these.

Stormchaser hit the nail on the head!
I think the key to everything is the lighting and render settings.
If these are not set right then having a good texture wih bump/displacement is going to look -OK Fine, but not WOW!
Now if there were a formula to those great settings other than TRIAL AND ERROR!

**Where's that 'make art' button that people talk about, I can't find it!!
No seriously, it is all about trial & error as dlfurman says. I can spend hours creating a character & pose, to then set up a basic light & render setting would be pointless. Half my time can actually be setting up the right lights, plus my render settings will be to the max.**
Does the Unimesh realism kit work in P7. Nothing stated on the product offering or on the website it referes to . It says all kinds of things that it will work in P6 and not P5. But no mention anywhere that I could find reagrding P7. TIA for any reply

It works fine in P7. I use P7 almost exclusively now, with the exception of testing, and I've not had a single problem with any of face_off's python scripts not working. You just have to be sure they're installed to the poserscripts folder in the P7 Python folder.

i got v3 and i got many v3 characters that i bought with textures. i also have miki and michael 3. One thing that i notice is that i don't get a sense of detail in the skin because it looks blurry especially when i wanted to look non blurry like in . It's not realisitc. Poser 6 by the way. Is there a way, product or tips to make the skin more detailed so that it looks more real? I think i saw a product once that helps in making more realism. But i'm not sure
